Hi guys. I am so glad I found this site. I am 29 and I have been on Yasmin for four years. In the last few months I have toned up and shed a few pounds and all of a sudden last week I got home and felt a tightening in my legs that I had never felt before. Then a tingling in my left arm and I had trouble swallowing and breathing. I am a very healthy person so I freaked out and went to the ER for the first time in my life. After the blood work, EKG, MRI and stress test they told me I was normal, except for low potassium levels and mentioned that I should go to a neurologist. I also thought I must be allergic to something but all the foods I had been eating were the same as before. Well it happened again tonight so I went online because there was no way I was going to spend more money in the ER to have them tell me it was nothing. After reading all the comments on this page I realized it is amazing how many other symptoms that I didn't realize also correlated to the pill. My hair has been falling out at the root like never before and I just recently developed troubles with eating tomato based foods. I haven't been sleeping good lately either and I started crying uncontrollably for no reason. Well I am throwing away my Yasmin and I can't believe that the doctors in the ER aren't mentioning the side effects of this birth control.

i was on Yasmin for 3 years - thankfully the worst side effects i had were low sex drive and dryness. i did have a couple scares where i thought i had a clot, but i got it checked out an it was nothing. i got off the pill a month ago. i feel fine. i've been a bit moody and i cry a lot over nothing, but i attribute that to my body readjusting. i haven't had a period yet. i'm a bit nervous about that. i do feel i've gained a small bit of weight.
for all of you who are reading this - there ARE alternatives that are safe and easy. i just bought a fertility computer called LadyComp. it's expensive, but when you think about the side effects it is saving as well as the monthly expenses for the pill, it will eventually save you a lot of money as well as your health. it's not sold in the states (cuz pharmeceuticals rule the country and won't allow something like this) but you can buy online from England or Canada. it's just as effective as the pill and SO much safer for you!!!!

Okay, i am a 28 year old healthy woman. I have had a few anxiety attacks due to moving, new job, being a single momma and etc. But they are under control.
However, last month i started Yaz to help with mild PMDD which had developed after i had my daughter ( who is 2 now and awesome!!!). Well I thought it was okay at first then 2 weeks into it i started my period and bled for 2 weeks!!!! i have never had a period that long, i thought my blood would be low by then end of it. Well, i also had migraines, which i have never had before. Every morning when i woke up my head pounded. So, i have started the second pack and it has been awful, my lower back is hurting so bad, my anxiety is peaked and i am all shakey. Not to mention i feel like crying my eyes out. Oh and i have eaten 2 pieces of bacon today due to nausea. I couldn't believe it was the BC. When i was young i had taken Triphasil and ortho tricyclen. And i remember them being okay. But not this one.
So tomorrow my gyn. is putting me on Ortho-lo so hopefully it will work. I hate we all have to go through these side effects, but i guess that's how it goes. God bless everyone i hope we find some answers! :o)

I was on yasmin for 3 years. I had horrible anxiety and did not know why. I just delt wirh it. After I stopped yasmin in jan 2005 I wanted to have a baby well for 4 months i broke out in painful cycstic pimples. Finally I got pregnant in sept 05 It took forever. After my daughter was born everything was fine. Started loestrin 24 fe. Bad choice there. I was worse than I was on the yasmin. This has costs me alot of money to find out years later that the bc pill was causing me to have mood disorders. Now off of them I am completly fine. Just remember when you quit taking them it can take 30 to 60 days for that shit to get out of your system Good luck/

TO GUEST 36372,
Your post really annoyed me. I am sorry that you find the new forum annoying but you know what this is the only website that has helped me. When I found this website I was just about ready to end my life. If it was not for these woman on here telling their stories I would have thought I was just going plain crazy. There is a BIG difference between side effects of a medication and a whole life altering experience, which for us is what it was. A horrible experience. People on this site are going above and beyond to help each other out. If you are looking for just side effects well go search somewhere else if we are Annoying you so much. And just so you know that is why Sarah started the forum, so we can still be there for each other without annoying petty people like you. YOu make me ill after reading all of our post and having the nerve to say we are annoying. Maybe I am being rude right now but personally I don't care, you didn't have to attack people that are just here supporting each other. I hope for you, you don't have to ever encounter what we are going through. Because any person that was, would not sit there and call us annoying or have a problem with our conversations. Sarah is not advertising anything or making money from this. She is doing this from the bottom of her heart. On the lighter side maybe I am starting to feel better because your post really irritated me and for the first time in awhile I actually felt like speaking my mind like I use too. Well thanks for that.

Sarah,
I totally agree with you. I think the doctors get money from these companies for these pills. I also found it interesting about the FDA getting on the maker of the pill, I wonder if that has something to do also with not showing there commercial here anymore for yaz. I was so sick of seeing the damn commercial. It was on all the time here, "Yaz contains a unique ingredient different than anyother b/c pill," I swear everytime I saw that commecial I wanted to break the tv. Yea a unique formula that will screw you up!!! Funny thing is I have not seen any commercial in a couple of weeks for Yaz. Makes me wonder!!!!!!

I started with the yasmin about a year ago and my skin cleared up, I didn't have bloating everything was fine. Then about 6 mos. ago I stopped using it (no money, no healthcare). My acne got soooo... bad all over my face, chest and back! So thinking it was due to the yasmin I went back on it and I've been on it for two mos. now and my acne has gotten worse, if that's possible, and I can't deal b/c I had gotten use to clear skin. Just wanting to know if any of you ladies and any similar experiences. Thanks!
Take Care!

Girls, I think we should ALL call Yasmin the company and let them know how we are all feeling. I have spent so much money trying to figure out what was wrong and I'm still having side effects and I'm off the pill now for 3 weeks. The number for Yasmin is 888-237-5394. I am calling tomorrow. I am going to tell them about this site and a possible class action lawsuit. If anyone knows how to get a class action suit started lets get on it.

I was only on yasmin for one month and began to have severe panic attacks. I never had anything like this in my life and thought I was going crazy. I never thought it could be attributed to Yasmin, but with all these others suddenly getting attacks while on it too, it must be the Yasmin. I wonder if we should consider a class action lawsuit? It can't be a coincidence that this many people get panic attacks while on this pill while never having had them before. I am not interested in money so much as preventing others from having to go through what I went through.

started yasmin almost 3 years ago. my doctor gave me samples for a bit over a year because I didn't want my mom to know I was on it so I couldn't use our insurance and didn't have money (i was just barely 16). Everything was great. I didn't notice any weight gain, it didn't give me any acne, and I thought I noticed my breasts get a little bigger. When he ran out of samples, I went to a free sex health clinic because they sell packs for $5. They didn't have yasmin so I took Alesse. just after a week of being on it, I started feeling really bloated and got a crazy amount of acne (I had never had acne before) and so at the end of the month I stopped being on it and took a break from birth control for 3 months. Then, desperate, I got yasmin with my family's insurance and the bloated feeling went away and the acne got a little better. although, the acne is still there now, nearly a year later. i have been on yasmin for the past 9 or 10 months (im guessing) and i still have some acne. it is not horrible, but really annoying because i am sure i would have never had it if i hadent switched to alesse. also, since i tried alesse, my hair and face gets greasy really fast and constantly have to wash it. i think i may stop taking yasmin at the end of this cycle and take a break for a half a year or so to try to get my body back to normal. any suggestions?
