My name is Bobby and I've been dating a girl who has been through some tough times. She took my advice and started taking an antidepressant, Celexa, 5 weeks ago. 3 Weeks after starting the Celexa, we began to have the relationship I always knew we could. I love her so much and for one week I was the Happiest man in the world.
Unfortunately, against my advice she started taking Yaz a week after beginning the Celexa. I told her that beginning two new drugs at once will eliminate the ability to identify which drug is causing which affects whether they be positive or negative.
After 3 weeks of Celexa and 2 weeks of Yaz, my girlfriend started acting alive and excited about life again!! She even started losing weight because of her beautiful new-found energy and zest for everything. She was playful, she was laughing, she was sexual, she was the girl of my dreams and we fell more in love than ever.
One week later (After 4 weeks of Celexa, and after 3 weeks of Yaz) a monster emerged who no longer can stand the sight of me. She doesn't want me to touch her, hug her, or even kiss her. She doesn't sleep at night. She screams and yells at me for being annoying when I'm doing things that once made her smile with love in her eyes.
I found an apartment today and decided to move out... I have never been treated so poorly by anyone in my life before. She's aggressive and verbally abusive. She's been complaining that people are talking about her and she seems paranoid. I made the mistakes of taking steroids a while back and I can tell you she is the monster now that I was then and both Yaz and steroids affect hormone levels and I'm telling you I just can't believe how many relationships this drug must be ruining.
Tonight I took the Yaz and threw all of it out. She got mad at me because she's afraid that she'll stop losing weight... I mean she's just completely lost perspective. I showed her pictures of us happy together and she still chose losing 3 more pounds over our relationship. I'm losing my mind... Just a few weeks ago she reminded me again that she wants to marry me and give me babies. Where has my future wife and future mother of my children gone??

I'M LIVING IN FEAR THAT SHE WILL FIND A WAY TO GET MORE YAZ B4 SHE'S BEEN OFF LONG ENOUGH TO SEE WHAT IT'S TURNED HER INTO.

SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP!!!

I, too, thought I was crazy while on Yasmin and then on Yaz. I took Yasmin for 4 years until my doctor didn't have it and I was leaving on a trip and needed it so he gave me Yaz instead. I was paranoid, depressed, nauseas, etc. I also had horrible mood swings, which I never had before. My step dad died last year so I attributed a lot of my anger and other emotions to that, but now after reading all the other posts I believe all of this was caused by Yasmin. I was never like this before. I never acted like a crazy person before or was irritated by people. I am so thankful that I know it isn't me and it was the pill all along. Who knew such a small pill could cause that much drama.
When I started taking Yaz all of the symptoms got worse. Since I was only taking the pill to regulate my period and have lighter period, which never happened, I stopped taking the pill altogether. Since I stopped in August I have only had one natural period. I was really thinking I was pregnant for a bit because I was constantly sick to my stomach, had monster migraines, had to urinate a lot, and had cramps. I took a pregnancy test (even though it has been almost two years since I have had intercourse) and I am not pregnant. I went to my general practice doctor and he said that not having a period after you stop taking the pill is normal. I have missed two periods now and he says if it gets to the third one I should go see my gyn. Has anyone else had this problem? Is it indeed normal? When will my period come back (not that I am missing it, but I'd like to know what is going on in there).

I started Yasmin about 7 months ago and i must admit it has definitely took away the acne, have an awesome 4 or 5 day period. BUT i seriously hate the side effect of crying and being so emotional all the time, it really has come to be a problem between me and my husband, i'll tend to blow up over anything and was never that way before.

Hello Yasmin Sufferers out there, I have currently been taking Yasminfor four months exactly, I started my cycle today which means that I would start to take my new pack of pills come this Sunday, except I have most definately decided that I am going to stop. Especially after reading all of these posts and have come to the realization that all of my health problems seem to be Yasmin driven. I will now list the long list of symptoms that I have expierienced over the last four months:

Water retention, dry mouth, dehydration ( also note: drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day), blurred vision, shaking, headaches, backaches, crying at the drop of a dime, moody, irritable, constipation, nightsweats, coldsores, breast tenderness, as well as numbness in legs. I also have naturally thin hair, but have noticed that my hair has become thinner. I have also gained 10pds.

I am 24 years of age and have been taking this pill for four months. When I was younger I took Ortho Tricyclin for years and gained approx: 60pds. I went off of that pill and dropped the weight almost immediately along with changing my nutrition completely. So, it wasn't just the pill. I then stayed off of the pill for years, and was absolutely fine. Last year I tried to take Yasmin, I went on the pill for one month and withing the 1st week gained 8pds, I stopped taking it after one month, because I am so weight conscience because the pill had made me gain weight in the past.

I tend to have moderate adult acne. I went to my Dr. for an acne treatment, and he suggested the Birth Control Pill. He suggested Yasmin because of the water pill which is in it. This time my Dr. convinced me that I did not give the pill enough time last time and should give it three months minumum.

So, I have given it four months and the symptoms seem to be getting worse as well as the weight gain, and irritability.

I have also felt depressed and wondered if have been depressed which I have never had thoughts of in the past.

One thing that Yasmin has done well for me has been clearing up the acne, which was what I wanted to stop, but after enduring all of these other symptoms, I would rather have adult acne in trade for all of these.

Like I mentioned above I took my last pill last Saturday because that was the end of my pack and I do not plan on starting a new one this Sunday. I can only hope that I do not get any negative side effects when coming off of the pill.

I hope that this helps you ladies out there looking for info and highly recommend researching a birth control pill extensively before taking it.

Wishing you all the best of luck, thank you all for voicing your symptoms as I didn't even realize that these were all pointing to one problem.YASMIN.

hey there ladies!!!

TO ALL OF YOU READING READ THIS FIRST!!!!

my first round of yasmin about 3years ago was great...no side effects just happy as a clam birth control...

until they found i had endometriosis...i did a round of lupron to treat it and then they put me back on the yasmin nostop (like lynn wrote earlier). since then my life has been a living hell...

chronic fatigue, leg pain/tingles (they fall asleep all the time), i am the scariest monster with the mood swings and all they keep doing is shoving drugs at me because i am "depressed". well don't fall for that crap. it is just a way to shut you up for the next couple of months. i finally got sick of the juggling of the doctors so i went off it myself and it has only been a couple of days and i am soooo different. i am a happy little clam again!

i just want to get some feedback on one thing...how do i lose the weight i have gained? i keep trying and nothing results?

love luck and lollipops to all

OMG! I found this site by accident and as I sit here and read the posts my mouth is hanging open. I have been ready to leave my family and never look back. I have been terrified of the "monster" that I've become over the last few months to the point of feeling my family would be better off without me around. I had no idea at all that this drug caused this sort of mental condition. I cry at the drop of a hat and have become a recluse, dropping several classes on my campus because I just don't want to be around anyone anymore. I have an appointment for a pap this Wednesday and I was going to tell the doc that I have been certain I've been going through a nervous breakdown. Something has got to be done. I can't continue to live like this. One of the reasons that I agreed to go on Yasmin was because I have PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome) and was put on this and Metformin to help me regulate my periods and lose some weight. Now that I'm reading how everyone has gained a lot of weight after going off this drug I'm terrified out of my mind! I don't know what I'm going to do now. Any suggestions from anyone?

I've been on the pill for just a month...i'm in the last days of the inactive pills. I have always had anxious tendencies (was on medication 4 yrs ago and have just pushed through them since then)...but this month I've felt like a monster!!

Most of you have never had anxiety before taking the pill, which is a clear indicator that it's not right for you.

Has anyone ever had problems with anxiety PRIOR to taking the pill? And can you compare your condition once you started taking it? I definitely feel it's worse for me...I feel insane, like a cold, unfeeling monster...I feel like I'm trapped beneath this hard shell of anger/apathy.

Any feedback from those that had suffered anxiety prior to Yasmin?

I'v ebeen on yasmin 3 months and I have been so extremely moody, and depressed. So moody that I even convince myself I hate my boyfirend, but then the minute he has to go off to work, I cry and practically ave him by the legs.
I've gained about 7 lbs. I can not seem to get it off. My face is clear, no headaches, slight cramping, my period is ok,pretty light. The weight gain has caused me to be depressed. I reallyw anted this pill because i heard it was wonderful, weight loss, no acne, light periods, all that wonderful stuff.

I have not wanted to have sex with my bf in 3 weeks. I do because i have to, he shouldn't suffer for my hormones.

I want to get off of this thing, this monster, but honestly what else am i going to be on? Is there really a great BC?

I'm going to give it another month and then my bf is going to have switch to condoms.

I have been on Yasmin for a little over a year now, at first everything was great, aside from swollen breasts, I had no complications. Over the past 6 months, I have become increasingly moody, depressed and I feel angry all the time, stressed-out, overwhelmed...any little thing will set me off. I have gained some weight, but not a whole lot but I noticed my appetite has increased since starting Yasmin. I have headaches almost daily, my eyes are blurry at times and I have a hard time concentrating on things. I also have horrible leg cramps that happen in the middle of the night, usually when I stretch my legs out, I can literally feel the calf muscle tighten into a hard ball...and I have ti rub it to loosen it up, then my leg aches the rest of the day. The more I take this, the worse I feel. I feel good the few days during my period when Im not on active pills, but here I am 6 days into my active pills and Im turning into the "monster" again.....this pill has got to go...thanks for all who have written their side effects as well, I can now see its this pill and not my imagination.
