im 17 and started Yasmin when i was 14 maybe 15, it made me so sick, id start throwing up about 8 hours after taking the pill, and that would last for about 5 hours, (like having mild food poisoning). I got heart palpitations every minute or so for days on end, and unbearable depression. I was the happiest person until i started taking this pill, and its so bad that i couldn't enjoy my life properly. Now im tiny, like really really thin mums worried i have anorexia, and although my life is perfect (great friend, good grades, nice boyfriend), I cant enjoy any of it properly. I went off it about four months ago and my happiness returns now and then like it used to be three years ago, but my mind feels so fuzzy and sort of disorientated, and i cant seem to convince myself of things properly. I was wondering if these things get better and better or am i stuck like this???
plz help xxx

this is my story... I am 41 and wombless. Was prescribed Yasmin for a cyst which they say is an ovarian cyst, but I have no ovaries. May i say I have never taken contraceptives in my life. began taking prescription 28 days ago today. from the very first day it brought on kidney pain that was dormant for months and a feeling of nausea and headaches. That checked with antibiotics in a week, with the exception of headaches which i still have on and off, it has been smooth sailing. problem is yesterday i woke up bleeding. I haven't had a period in almost 3 years so i am in a dilemma. Its weekend and i don't see my gyn until Monday. The only thing i can put this to is the tabs and i am not gonna take any more. I quit.

Hi, I have been on Yasmin for 2 years now. I didn't like what it was doing to me and so went off it. I didn't get back on it for 7 months, my reason for getting back on it, my PERIODS STOPPED for the whole 7 months I didn't take the pill. I really don't know what to do. If I get off it my period stops, if I don't Im cranky, irritable, low and hardly have any sex drive. The doctors just say its normal. I don't even want to see the doctor anymore sice they don't do anything about it. Ive had it

I was on Yasmin for 2 years and it was 2 years too long! I should have stopped taking it immediately. I experienced EXTREME HAIR LOSS!!!! It started to fall out as soon as I started taking the pill, but I was also coming off Depo Provera and thought it was the Depo causing the hair loss. This happened in 2 different cycles. The first time, A LOT of hair fell out and I was humiliated. After about 6 months, some hair grew back; but my hair was still extremely thin and you could see most if not all of my scalp in strong lighting (outdoors for example). About 8 months later, it fell out again...this time worse than ever because I had about half of the hair I used to. I think I was literally lost 3/4 of my hair this time. Most if the hair loss was on the top of my scalp and every doctor I saw had something different to say. In the beginning stages of the hair loss, they said it was stress. Then when they saw it progress and they realized how much hair I had lost on the top of my scalp, I was told I had female pattern baldness...only no female in my family had ever experienced this before. Finally, I went off the pill and WOW...I HAVE HAIR AGAIN and it is probably close to what I had before I ever lost any of it. Oddly enough, Yasmin is used to prevent hair loss; as it is prescribed for women who have higher testosterone levels...yet it caused me to lose mine. I also gained A LOT of weight on that pill!
I have been off of Yas for about 6 months now and my periods are definitely less than regular. I won't get my period for 3 months and all of a sudden I am getting it every 2 weeks. I also have cysts on my ovaries and I thought I had Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome which can also cause hair loss, but the doctors are quite positive that I don't have PCOS and that it is not what led to the hair loss.
Moral of the story...unless you have to go on a pill that is designed for lowering your testosterone levels (and I recommend Diane 35 if so), do not take Yas! If I ever go on the pill again, I am sticking to something like Alese that is low-dose.

I gotta tell ya this is scary. I am a 30 yr old guy my wife is 27 we have four children. Our last one was born Mar. 2007 She has been on Yasmin 6months or so.She has never been regular on periods. Well a few weeks ago she started having massive headaches. As of June 31st her doctor said she has migraines. Well by July first her left eye went blurry by the 2nd she has lost vision in both eyes. She only sees light and is very cloudy and can see shadows. We made 3 trips to ER. They did Cat scan and it was neg. the doctor said she might have even had a mild stroke because her left cheek went numb. By the 2nd we were in ER again because of total vision loss. They did a lumbar punture and no Meningitus. cat scan again neg. blood work neg. except UTI sound familiar ladies??? By the 3rd we visited her doctor and she passed out and was rushed by EMT to Hosp. They did and MRI,MRA,had a eye Doctor called an ophthalmologist clear her of vision problems. She has talked to a neurologist. So here is a 27 yr old female with all the test's coming back normal but she can't see. They even had a psychiatrist talk to her because she is on Prozac because she has PCOS and had half her ovaries removed and almost died. They even suggested that she had conversion disorder(google it). Finally I decided to check side effects for all her meds. When I checked this one I almost jumped outta the chair. She has about 10 symptoms. But before I get too excited has anyone had vision loss for a period of time and did it come back once off of it?? I'm throwing these away

I was just discharged from the hospital on Saturday. I had been taking Yasmin for almost two years now and until recently, had no problems. Last Wednesday I went to the ER for severe pain and inability to breath with my left lung. They admitted me after finding a blood clot in the right, as a result of Yasmin! Turns out, I had pneumonia in the left and since I had no symptoms that the clot was there, the pneumonia saved my life! I too had to take those fun Lovenox shots in the stomach and now I'm on Coumadin for 6 months. I am 29 years old, never smoked a day in my life. I do not drink, I am a healthy weight and I work out regularly. I do not have a history of blood clots in the family. How could this happen especially with a drug my doctors told me was safe?

With the amount of occurrences, I'm interested in a class action lawsuit as well. I will never take a birth control pill again EVER.

Oh dear, if you read possible side effects for ANY BC the symptoms you are having can happen, I have been on many pills, some seriously affected my emotional well being, due to est..levels. Not one is right for everyone, as the warning inside your package clearly states, you may have to try several before finding the right one for you.

If you are becoming depressed go see your doctor. If you read the insert on your pills if you are experiencing any "side effects" contact the doctor, it is very possible that the combination of levels isn't right for you, the doctor can evaluate and find a more suitable pill with different hormonal levels for you.

Also I recently had to be put back on the pill due to cysts on my ovaries, sometimes the pill is prescribed for this, so the person claiming pill causes cancer, it also can PREVENT other cancers.

Hi all,
This is my third posting. I've been off of Yaz for two weeks and wanted to let you all know that I'm feeling pretty great. Headaches are gone, dizziness has mostly dissipated, mood is fantastic. Anxiety has diminished, heart palpitations are gone, and sex drive is back to where it should be. I'm having some joint aches and pains but it's hard to say if that's from the pill or just general wear and tear from working out. But I'm very optimistic! Best of luck to you all. My advice is if this pill works for you, great, stay on it. But if it's making you miserable, you have choices, and you should go off and try something new. Like my doctor said, there are tons of birth control pills out there, and you just want to find one that works for you and makes you happy. And if your doctor isn't telling you this, find a new doctor!
Good luck! I'm going back to orthocyclen next cycle.

I began taking Yasmin January 2007, and my previous mood swings greatly improved. However, I have now been on Yasmin for over a year and have recently been experiencing some side effects. For instance, I suddenly have no desire to have sex, and when I do, I experience pain on the left side of my ovaries. I have also been experiencing increased dryness, and loss of appetite/ nausea. Is it possible to develop symptoms after being on Yasmin for an extended period of time, or are the symptoms prominent at the beginning? I had no complaints about this birth control up to this point. Now, I have reason to believe that my pill may be the culprit of my changes. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, please contact me.

I am so glad I found this website! Since starting YAZ 2 months ago because I was diagnosed with PCOS and had not had a period for about 3 months I have not stopped bleeding! Heavy bleeding not just spotting. I have had severe cramping as well. I cry at things that normally wouldn't bother me. I get angry at my husband for little things that aren't even worth being upset about. I am almost always nauseated a few hours after taking YAZ and I barely have a sex drive! This is not me at all. My ovaries actually hurt when I walk or even sit, I can just feel them throbbing. Not only that I am very tired all the time no matter how much sleep I get. Thank you all of you for posting your reactions to this birth control on here.

I am a 26yr-old, another victim of Yasmin.

My story's gonna be a bit long, but hope you can bare with it.
Please also forgive me for my incorrect grammer as English is not my mother tongue....but I hope I can get my message across to all of you.

Here it goes!

Ever since I had my first period at a late age of 18 (I was anorexic and severely underweight btw the age of 14-15 when I was supposed to start my mensus had I been healthy,,,,), my mensus had never been regular.

I only had about 3 full-fledged mensus per year, with occational spotting.
Apart from that, I was a happy, bubbly, cheerful lady.
Nevertheless, worried about the side effects of "not shedding", I made my first visit to the gyn.

The Dr. ultrascanned me.
Both my uterus and ovaries were normal in size.
She ran a blood test for my hormones and thryroid level.
They both came out fine.

So then she recommended me to take Yasmin, which will help to regularise my cycle and "shed" all the accumulated lining.

I was quite happy during my first box as I lost my water weight, and my skin cleared.

But then the nighmare began......

Half-way thru my second box, I suddenly became sooooo depressed.
Sure, I did have some ups and downs prior to taking Yasmin, but the ones I'm experiencing while on Yasmin is just beyond anyone's imagination.

Prior to taking Yasmin, I was confident with myself, which I believe made me an attractive person.

HOWEVER, ever since the onset of depression, I seem to have lost all the confidence in me.

All that "self-esteem" I used to possess is now GONE.

I feel so insecure about myself, and don't feel good about myself even when I'm in my favourite outfit.

Before Yasmin, I was so easily "turned-on" !: listening to my favourite tune turned me on, watching drama with my fav actors turned me on, thinking about what to have for dinner turned me on.... just about any thought was enought to mass-produce dopamine in my brain.

But these days, none of these make me happy.
Nothing makes me happy, but anything can make me go DOWN.

I've been off Yasmin for 5 days now.
I do feel slightly better than 5 days ago.
But I'm suffering from elevated heart beat around midnight, which is making me insomniac.

But my biggest concern is ;

WOULD I REGAIN THAT "GLOW" IN ME?
WOULD I REGAIN MY CONFIDENCE?

Also,

Is taking Evening Primrose Oil beneficial to regain my peaceful hormonal level?
Can I start taking EPO directly after stopping Yasmin?

By the way, I notice that I look older (as in aged) ever since taking Yasmin. Does BCP make you age faster? Or am I just imagining things out of depression?

PLEASE HELP....

Thank you for spending your time to read my story,,,,,,

I was originally put on Yasmin because of my PCOS (polycystic ovarian syndrome). I was taking it for about 2-3 years and just stopped about a month and 1/2 ago and I am experiencing horrific headaches. They are sudden and on the left side behind my eye. There is no warning. They are like migraines but they are piercing pain not throbbing. Could the cessation of taking Yasmin be the cause? I hurt almost daily and I'm so sick of it. Also I haven't had a period yet.

I have been taking Yasmin for 2 years now and the side effects are horrible. Up until the last 4 - 5 months, I never had any problems with the medication. All of a sudden I started having night sweats, mood swings, anger issues, and emotionally unstable. I went to the doctor and they thought I was going through early menopause. I am only 28 years old, so of course they did all of the necessary tests. After the results came back, I was told that it was not early menopause, but they thought I may be having secondary ovarian failure. I went and had a second opinion and was told that the problem was my birth control pills. Apparently this pill can completely stop your ovaries from producing the hormones that they have to produce. My doctor told me that one of the side effects of this pill is that is shuts the ovaries down in rare cases. Well I guess I am a rare case. I am coming off of these pills and in a few months I should not have any of these symptoms. I do not recommend this product to anyone!!!!!!

I've been on Yasmin for about 5 months now. I experience everything everyone else has stated. I experienced nausea, migraines, all the bad side effects for 2 months straight before they subsided. I still get migraines a week before my period and they continue till the new packet starts. I think my body is rejecting these hormones and when the hormones are reduced during my period, the migraines start. While on the plus side....no weight gain at all and shorter days for my period....the MAJOR downside for me is that my hair has begun to fall out and I'm not just talking about the normal loss. I thought since my hair is really dark, I was just seeing it more than usual but there is a definite loss and I can feel areas where the hair is thinner. I had super thick hair and it's getting thinner and thinner. I have contacted my dr and want off of this. I am birth control to regulate cysts that keep forming on my ovaries but I'm starting to think that pain is worth enduring when I have all of these problems.

Hi, I started taking Yaz in November 06. The first few months were fine. Then, I started having to urinate ALL the time. I also developed very bad pain in my right lower abdomen. In addition, I lost my appetite and became increasingly depressed and anxious. I went to the hospital three times for the pain. After 2 CT scans, an x-ray, any many urine and blood tests, everything came back normal, but my symptoms remained. The thing the doctors found was multiple, small bilateral cysts on my ovaries, which they told me is perfectly normal. Is it?

Last week, my period came a week and half early which is VERY unusual for me. After looking up information about YAZ, I realized that my symptoms were likely caused by this pill. Anyways, I stopped taking it three days ago. How long do you think it will take for my symptoms to go away?

Im sorry I wrote that last post so fast it was confusing and I didnt even sign! Its me, bitterRN. Anyway I got those lab ranges from this website... www.earlymenopause.com/tests.htm

Dont let the name scare you, I dont think you are in menopause, but possibly having some kind of ovarian dysfunction where your ovaries are not producing enough androgens.(testosterone and progesterone)

Anyway please let me know what your doctor says and dont forget to ask him the normal lab ranges for each hormone right down to the measurement (example ng/dl or ng/ml) or better yet try to get a copy and it will have the normals listed next to your results. The other labs the LH, FSH, Estradiol looked pretty normal, I dont know why he tested Prolactin?? unless this was progesterone? But I dont think the testosterone is normal. Let me know.

I had to stop taking Yasmin after six weeks (a pack and a half). I had been on Ortho 777 for about 20 years was experiencing severe PMS symptoms for 14 days per month. So, the doc switched me to Yasmin. I had severe diarrhea for the entire six weeks and lost eight pounds that I didn't need to lose. I looked and felt so very ill. I had no appetite and was nauseated all of the time. By the last few days, I was experiencing panic attacks at night. I was extremely dehydrated, my skin was dry and lips were chapped. By the second pack of pills, the veins in my lower left leg began to pop out, and I was experiencing a warm sensation along the side of my shin--not warm to the touch, but warm from the inside out. After one final night of violent diarrhea and anxiety, I threw out the pills. After the first pack I phoned the doc's office and the nurse told me that it usually takes two to three months for a woman's body to adjust to a new pill. But these side effects were much too much to handle. Now that I've been off of them for a few days, my appetite is back, BMs coming back to normal, and I feel like a fog has been lifted from my brain. Not sure if it was the drug itself or the dehydration, but I was so listless and out of it. I'm coming back to my normal self, and I am very grateful for it. No more artificial hormones for me; my body needs to heal. Old fashioned condoms, spermicide, and hope that my 42-year-old ovaries are petering out.

hi there bitter rn and others

im 7 days pre-yasmin but i can,t really call it that because its my seven day break. i took my last pill last sunday and was due to start my new pack monday so i guees thats when the real test starts, as my body will be expecting it.

also i have been suffering from real bad migraines continously this 7 day break but today i have noticed SHARP, SHOOTING PAINS IN MY HEAD, IS THIS NORMAL ANYBODY?????

My dr has prescribed me with a ant-depressant called CITALOPRAM HYDROBROMIDE 20MG DAILY, i told him that i would wait 2 months and if i feel like the anxiety was too bad to handle myself i would only then take it. i just hope i am strong enough to cope on my own without any kind of medication.

however i am thinking of taking homeopathic treatment to regulate my periods and get rid of the cysts on my ovaries, maybe this will control my anxiety after all its the hormone imbalance that causes the anxiety and depression, ISNT IT????
WHAT DO YOU THINK?????????

ANYBODY ELSE HAD THE SHOOTING PAINS IN THE HEAD AFTER STOPPING YASMIN, AND HOW LONG AFTER STOPPING DID THEY GO AWAY?????
PLEASE REPLY!!!!!!!

I DON,T FEEL DEPRESSED TODAY , JUST THE HEAD PAIN REALLY.
IM REALLY SCARED WHAT PEOPLE HAVE SAID PRE-YASMIN I HOPE I,M STRONG ENOUGH TO HANDLE IT, IM SUCH A SENSITIVE PERSON WHO HAS ALWAYS BEEN WEAK-MINDED
WELL I GUESS I HAVE TO BE STRONG AND SEE WHAT LIES AHEAD AND HOPEFULLY I,LL BE ABLE TO HANDLE IT WITHOUT THE ANTI-DEPRESSANTS.

THANKYOU TO EVERYONE WHO HAS POSTED THEIR EXPERIENCES ON YASMIN I FEEL SO MUCH BETTER KNOWING THAT IT WAS THE PIL AND NOT MY MIND GOING CRAZY

ANY REPLIES WOULD BE APPRECIATED GREATLY

THANKS SO MUCH AGAIN

I started searching for any side effects of Yasmin after a young lady on another website that I frequent asked about it. I started taking yasmin in 2002 after I had sugery to remove tumors from my ovaries. I experienced such terriblr pain during my menstral cycle right before and right after my surgery that my gyno prescribed it for me. It did stop the pain but my body has not seemed right ever since. I contributed it to my body being confused after my surgery, I never would have contributed it to the yasmin. I had absolutely no sexual desire (and it is still at a minimum), I would wake up in a pool of sweat every night, I have had excessive weight gain. Before my surgery, I weighed 115. At my last visit to the gyno I weighed 160, My weight had not been an issue in my adult life and I cannot seem to lose the weight. Since beginning a serious workout routine, I have had terrible pain in my knees and I battle with depression and for a while had constant anxiety attacks. When I tried to tell my doctor that I thought something was wrong, especially about the weight gain, he said that it couldn't possibly be the yasmin. This site has really opened my eyes. Thanks ladies!

I'm on day 19 of this pill and it's been a crazy ride so far. Some info on why I'm on it and what it's been doing to me thus far:

I've been like clockwork with my menses from after I finished puberty till now... about 10 years total.
I'm 33 and not sexually active.
I missed my menses after a very prolonged stressful month and then proceeded to bleed for 17 days a month later.

I had an ultrasound and the results showed a 4 cm cyst on one of my ovaries, it being unique in that it's a cyst inside of a cyst.

After these results my GYN (as assigned to me by my HMO primary care doctor) suggested I go on the pill for 3 months to stop any more ovulation then do a second ultrasound to see what the current cysts state will be.

I am predisposed to migraines since I was 7 years old, so this was my only concern in taking this type of medication.

So far I've had 2 major migraines which I've toughed out at work.

The second of the two, yesterday, Day 18, was accompanied with feelings of high intolerance, anxiety, anger, panic (that this crap was happening), and this weird feeling of knowing who I am normally, but not being able to grasp any of my normal behaviors.

To my S.O.'s credit, he says this is what I'm like when I'm PMSing.

I really hope that this doesn't mess with my overall chemistry, as it's taken me a long time to get to know me and to start all over is not something I want to have to go through again.

Hello everyone,
I too have had problems on bcp (specifically coming off of it) and had a tough time with anxiety/insomnia/ depression due to the loss of hormones. I was never really quite sure how reproductive hormones affected all of these things and I couldn't get clear info from docs or from the web. I eventually read a book called, "Its My Ovaries Stupid" By Dr. Elizabeth Vliet. In it she talks about how changes in estrogen and progesterone affect anxiety, depression, hair loss, headaches, urinary problems..the list goes on and on. It was a HUGE relief for me to read this book and it made me feel SO much better about my situation. I highly recommend you look into it. She is also the author of, "Screaming to be Heard: Hormonal Connections Women Suspect but Doctors Ignore"
Good reading!

to lisa and Manda... its chrissy here...

firstly lisa.... you asked about my breasts and if they went down after i stopped yasmin. Well when i got on it they increased a whole cup size within two weeks and when i stopped yasmin they decreased back to my normal size within 1 week! but they were so sore it was terrible...
also my heart rate kinda just eased up on its own. it wasnt a sudden change or anthing the pace just decreased gradually... like at the moment i can feel that its beating a bit faster but thats because im ovulating... but nuthing like what it used to be.... much easier to handle now.

to Manda... you asked what PCOS was... it stands for Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome, its a health problem that affects a woman's mentrual cycle, fertility, hormones, heart, blood vessels and i guess overall appearance. Girls that have this usual have high levels of male hormones or an irregular or no menstrual cycle and sometimes have small cysts on their ovaries. If your wondering about it more there is alot of information on the internet, just type in PCOS into google or something like that.

ok guys lotsa luck!

Chrissy - You are absolutely an adorable charm! Right now I'm in bed, as I've been all day, my 'watermelon' is too heavy to lift so I've propped my laptop up. I'm glad, unfortuantely, to know that there are other people that have been here and are still alive! I ate a small bowl of oatmeal to keep my stomach from eating itself but I have no desire to even cook for my family.

So many are on Yasmin for birth control but I'm on it because of the cysts so I don't know if I can stop, yet, or if there is an alternative. I've considered a holistic center just to get my body off of any foreign substance but I'm afraid of the cysts growing. My doctor is on my poo list because I have to wait until 30 January to talk to her. I have two more packs to go through, but remember that I don't do the white pill week, I keep doing the yellow so that means I have about seven weeks left.

This is just insane. Here I thought I was getting sicker from the cysts growing and my estrogen increasing, but I'm experiencing illness from the meds that are supposed to be CURING me. Ouch. The first week or two of the Yasmin I felt disgusting but not at ALL like I do today. If it gets progressively worse I'm definitely going to take my ovaries out and mail them to the company that makes Yasmin.

Ewe. That's gross, but not as gross as how I feel right now.

Thanks for listening - AMEN for this board!

Kelli

Hey girls,

I am so glad I found this site. My doctor prescribed Yasmin after my 2 stays at the hospital over the summer due to midcycle cyst which bursted both times and gave me an appendix-like pain. He said that Yasmin will stop ovulation which was the cause of this cyst forming on one of my ovaries. Anyway, I was happy until yesterday. I've been on a pill for 3 months and yes, indeed my monthly pain stopped and i had no reoccurance of midcycle horrors but there it was - the anxiety and depression which hit my yesterday. I may blame it on PMS but could it be Yasmin? I never felt this way, I never cried over some silly things and never was this upset with absolutely no reason. It scares me, it scared my best friend and it scares my boyfriend. According to the doctor I have to take Yasmin for 6 months but I doubt I can live with this depression any loger, I am just not used to being this upset without any reason.
Thank you girls for all of your comments!

Post your symptoms since stopping Yasmin!!!

Hey everyone it's Kay21 here and I just wanted to post my 3 month off Yasmin update. Because stopping the pill is a hard decision, I figured we should all post are updates here to help/support those who are planning to stop or who have recently stopped Yasmin.

I have been off of Yasmin since April 17. As some of you already know, I was experiencing horrible side effects while on Yasmin for 3 years (particularly stomach problems, vaginal dryness, muscle cramps, increased blood pressure and heart rate and anxiety).

The first 1 month off of Yasmin was okay. In fact, I felt the best I had ever felt in a while. My blood pressure and heart rate decreased and the migraines and muscle cramps went away. But when I hit the 2 month (8 week) mark, I felt HORRIBLE. I was severely depressed and anxious. I was crying all the time and felt a severe sense of DOOM! The physical symptoms also started to become problematic. The acne increased and I started growing more facial hair. The worse symptom, however, was that I started losing a ton of hair. I would lose stray hairs all day (probably about 200 a day). Since I have hit the three month mark, the hair loss has gotten MUCH WORSE! Now I am losing CLUMPS of hair all day. I have seen several doctors about this. Some say it's because of stress and a few (a derm, GYN and endo) say that hiar loss is common after stopping bcp. I have already loss about 1/3 of my hair.

I am also really concerned, because I have not had a period since April 22. So my doctor has put me on provera for 10 days to induce a period.

For those who have stopped Yasmin, what have your symptoms been (i.e. increased acne, weight gain, anxiety, etc.). Has anyone experienced hair loss? How long did it take to get a period???

Thanks...

OMG!!! I have PCOS and my doctor suggested this "GREAT NEW B/C that really seems to help those with PCOS" I was on yasmin last spring for about 5 months...hated all the nasty side effects, racng heart, anxiety, moodiness, you name it i had it including IBS. Finally in July I couldn't take any more and quit, with out letting my dr. know, because I wasn't ready to try something else.

My husband and I liked how it helped me to loose weight and the spontanity we could have (granted with 2 little kids in the house - things aren't all that spontaneous) without having to fumble with condoms and or inserts, but the 2 little pros were not worth the way I was feeling. I hated it and it wasn't me!

Well, seeing as how I had no period in Nov. and have tested negative on 4 hpt's I figured great, my body is back to it's usual - I better get back on the pill again to try and regulate my cycle before I get more ovarian cysts. So I refilled my yasmin, figuring ok I'll give it another shot...big mistake!!!!

Today is Wednesday, I started this pack on Sunday - I have only been on the damn things for 4 days and I feel like HELL!!! I have the racing heart again, my anxiety level is way up there (my poor husband had his head bitten off last night for no reason what so ever - I'm surprised he talked to me this morning!) and to top it all off now I have the diarhea and nausea again. This is so not worth it, I can't believe that I can feel this way after only 4 days! Actually, myhusband said to me this morning, "honey I don't think you should take those pills any more - they aren't good for you and make you someone else completely."

So I called my doc. to see what my options are - I can't start on anything else until I have my annual exam on 12/15 - there is no way I'm staying on the Yasmin until I see her again!!!!

I'm throwing that pack away as soon as I'm done typing this! God I was soo stupid for thinking it would be better the second time around....I'd rather deal with my PCOS than feel like I'm feeling now.

Thanks for letting me share! Please think twice before you take Yasmin.

Hi everyone. Well first off, I have been on Yasmin for about a week now. And I don't feel bad at all. When I was seventeen my gyno recomended that I go on the pill. My mother was not thrilled about that one (old fashioned), so I waited until I was eighteen. After looking over many options, because I do not need it as a contraceptive, I decided to let the doctor use his best judgement. I took two pills in one day in order to make my cycle go every fourth Sunday.
So far I feel fine. My appetite has dwindled down to nothing, and because I work full time, those cravings have subsided so much that I lost three pounds in two days. One thing that I encourage women to remember is that the pill is meant to fool your body into believing it is pregnant. Because of the "pregnancy mode," your ovaries will not release any eggs. This is very important because the whole morning sickness bit, and the cravings, and the decreased sex drive, and the dryness are all symptoms of pregnancy. Every woman's body is different, and some woman during pregnancy do feel numb emotionally and physically. So the pill basically is doing just that, making you feel pregnant.
A woman's body produces natural hormones called estrogen and progesterone. However, the bosy does not produce these hormones in consistant amounts, hence we get our period. Because of these fluctuations, eggs are releases, our breasts are occasionally tender, a pimple will pop up here and there, and we get a bit moody. The pill maintains these hormones at a constant level so hopefully this symptoms subside a bit. The week that you are on the white pills is basically just your body's natural chemistry taking over. So of course that week you would feel very normal and like your old self.
I hope that maybe this information will help some people who, by coming to this website, have become frightened. Yasmin is a pill prescribed mostly to teenage girls because the hormone progesterone used is a synthetic one and not real. This basically enables your body to safely come off the pill and go back to normal once the menstrual cycle is regulated. I have experienced minimal side effects, the ones I have noticed are the loss of appetite, and desire to drink a lot of water, which by the way is a good thing. By the way, because Yasmin is a diauretic, that means you lose water while taking it. When your body is lacking water (a good indication is if there is a hint of yellow in your urine, urine should be clear and copious), it tends to become oily. People who drink plenty of water while on this pill do lose the weight after about eight weeks and have beautiful skin. Water is an amazing thing when trying to clean up acne. Good Luck ladies, and e-mail me is you have any questions. AgapeAngel1120@aol.com
