I posted not too long ago as my symptoms first began creeping up on me, high chloesterol, depsite a lot of exercise and eating healthy and having a normal body fat percentage. (AND I MEAN SO HIGH THAT I SHOULD WEIGH 500+ pounds)! I also have vitiligo, this causes skin discoloration and began having muscle aches and trouble sleeping at night. I had been on Yasmin for a little over a year and taken a break for 3 months before getting back on and symptoms started creeping up 2-3 months after coming back on Yasmin. I have aslo began to have hair loss in the past few months, gained 17 pounds in 4 months despite excerising and eating healthy. I began having hert palpitations and my late night writing can be attributed to trouble sleeping and overwhelming anxiety. I also have a lower sex drive now and am very depressed. I have been off Yasmin despite my doctor not believing a low dose pill could be causing all this, for one month. I have had withdrawals without a doubt, I am having severe breakouts, my breasts are so tender air caused by a fan hurts them and I want to cry all the time. The worst thing of all is my doctor won;t believe me, but how else can all this be happening. Blood tests ruled out thyroid and anemia as culprits as well as pregnancy (apparently I wouldn't notice that the 17 pounds was really a baby-what are these doctors thinking I know my body!). I hear all your symptoms and I wish I could say that they go away as soon as you get off the pill, but I can say if you just got on and things seem to be great realize I was on it for over a year and swore by it becasue it was the first pill that seemd to help with my emotions and cramps...but that all changed and my life feels like it is crashing down. I may never convince my doctor that yasmin is doing this to my body...they don't blieve me that I'm not eating fast food and siiting on my butt eating fatty foods all day and that is why I'm gaining weight and have dangerously high chloesterol, but I hope I can convince you all. I have had bad luck with all pills, I am allergic to spermicide and can't use diaphrams, I had my period for a month solid on the shot, but what Yasmin is doing to me makes me worry that my life is truly at risk...I would rather deal with cramps that are crippling than be ridiculed by doctors and hate myself the way yasmin makes me fo.

LADIES, I'M HAPPY I'VE FOUND THIS SITE JUST RIGHT BEFORE I TAKE YASMIN. WOW WHAT A RELIEF. OKAY, HERE'S THE BEST ADVICE I COULD GIVE. I'VE TAKEN THIS CONTRACEPTIVE PILL FOR MORE THAN 2 YEARS AND THE ONLY SIDE EFFECTS ARE: HAD MORE FACIAL HAIR BUT IT'LL GO AWAY EVENTUALLY. A LITTLE NAUSEA--JUST A LITTLE. A LITTLE INCREASE IN APPETITE BUT NO WEIGHT GAIN IN THE FIRST YEAR(I GAINED WEIGHT AFTER MY SECOND YEAR). A LITTLE DECREASE IN SEXUAL DRIVE, BUT NO PALPITATIONS, NO MAJOR SIDE EFFECTS. HERE'S THE BEST PART. THE BENEFITS: VERY CLEAR SKIN. TAKE NOT, VERY VERY CLEAR. THE COMPLEXION IMPROVES AS WELL. MY DRY SKIN ON ELBOWS GOT BETTER(I THINK). BREASTS BECOMES FULLER. THE NAME OF THE PILL IS DIANE35. IT'S WORTH A TRY. AGAIN, I THOUGHT WITH YASMIN I COULD LOSE SOME WEIGHT BUT WOW THESE SIDE EFFECTS THAT YOU LADIES HAVE SAID ARE NOT WORTH IT! TNX

HEART PALPITATIONS
After a year on Yasmin, I developed heart palpitations. They first began occurring at night, while lying in bed, then progressed to the point that my heart no longer had normal beats. My heart was fluttering constantly. My OBGYN said that arrhythmia due to Yasmin is "impossible", and a $1,200 work-up by a noted cardiologist ruled that my problem was due to "emotions". Just 10 days after quitting Yasmin, my heart beat returned to normal, and I have not had one heart palpitation since.

I started taking Yasmin august 07-took it for 3 weeks, 2nd week I felt pressure on my chest, 3rd week there was this day I started feeling pressure on my chest and bad palpitations, I got a little worried and they told me I was having a panic attack, it took 20 minutes for me to calm down. I stopped taking Yasmin that day and have continued to feel sick since. Symptoms since Yasmin have been:severe nervousness, shivering, racing heart especially with activity, chest pressure, pain by me heart, huge decrease in appetite, panic, thoughts I will die, body aches, headaches, slight dizziness sometimes. I've been to ER twice I've also had 2 d-dimer tests positive but no blood clot in my chest or legs and been to doctor about 7 times-she just sent me to psychiatry even though she knows I say the pill caused it. I also have an appt with cardiology tomorrow- and I'm sure they will tell me its in my head as well-its been 5 months I wonder how long my sickness will last.

How lost does this soreness lasts or the growth?

I've also had so many problems that I never realized until recently were related to Yasmin. I'm so angry at myself for not realizing sooner. I started taking Yasmin about 3 years ago because I was on Ortho Cyclen for a long time and stupidly thought maybe I'd try something new. Ortho was great, the only reason I switched is because I like to run my packs together and skip periods and I was starting to have breaththrough with the Ortho. BIG MISTAKE. I've had nothing but issues since, and I consider myself a stable, normally functioning woman. Since staring Yasmin 3 years ago, my libido has completely dried up. In fact I can barely let my sweet hubby touch me, let alone initiate it. We're starting to argue constantly because things irritate me that never did before. I've had mini anxiety and panic attack symptoms, blurry vision, foggy head feelings, and weird inner ear pain with occasional ringing I never had before. The worst part is, shortly after starting this terrible drug I developed IBS when I'd never had it before. Now I literally run for the potty after every meal. I cannot even lead a normal life anymore. I've struggled off and on with depressive type feelings, but for the most part have been able to muster through. Some days I am just so fricking tired though I can barely get out of bed. Oddly enough, I also get very hungover from even small amounts of alcohol....(also unusual for me)
More recently I have developed increasing chest tightness and palpitations. I am only 33 and have been checked out and they say nothing is wrong, except for my BP which always used to be very low, and has risen steadily over the last 3 years. I have also experienced significant bloating to the point most of my clothing no longer fits, despite the fact that I eat little given the IBS. My thyroid has been tested and is fine.
Finally, my hair has gone from great spirally curls that I loved to limp, weird half staright, half frizzy. I've never had this ever before. You literally could see this happen over the last few years as new hair grew in, it pushed the curls out and left this behind. I actually blamed my hairdressers and went from salon to salon before I put it all togehter!
I stopped Yasmin 2 days ago as I have had enough. I want to take something though so I started Seasonale, but this will be it. I'm giving it 6 months and if things aren't better I'm done with hormonal BC. I think with so many women who have had serious problems on this pill, you'd think they would listen. My GYN said no way it could be the Yasmin causing the IBS, but Yasmin does increase serotonin levels and the number one side effect of serotonin is diarrhea...so I think it is the cause!!

I started getting panic, palpitations, anxiety, bouts of crying, no sex drive, odd taste in my mouth. I only had the taste and lack of libido since early on but felt fine and than whammo the crying and palpitations and anxiety hit. I asked the doctor if it could be the Yasmin even tho id been on it for a while, i got the royal fob off and some lame comment about 'us girls doing funny things sometimes' whatever that means!!!!! It got worst, i couldnt stand to be in the college where id gotten the palpitations to start with so dropped out and i couldnt understand why, but i was cool to still work nearby the college, I had some odd behaviour tho, like i suddenly couldnt park on the ground level for fear of the levels collapsing, i was scared of dying, of freak events, of flying and i LOVED flying, the syptoms waxed and waned and then a few months lather while still having intermittent anxiety a stressful period popped up and that was it i was gone, worst time of my life, allergies, nauseus, paranoia, depression, nightmares, horrific mental images and distressing thoughts, suicidal thoughts. Crux of it was it sucked big time!!!! That was 3 years ago and im still trying to put myself back together! The original syptoms did get better with time but ive never been quite the same.

When a class action lawsuit is filed, let me know....this drug should be taken of off the market immediately. We started all of this with an OB/GYN that prescribed this “miracle pill” and now have had to go not only to our primary doctor, but also a psychiatrist, gastrenologist, college campus counselors, psychologists, psychiatrist, and the campus medical doctors; All the while, accumulating enormous doctor bills. All the doctors say, "No, Yasmin won't cause those problems" (except the college campus doctors..wonder why? Hmm.. could it be that they are not in private practice?)....well, I beg to differ. Everyone needs to give this website to their doctor so the doctors can hear from the patients that have taken this drug, and not listen to the pharmaceutical companies that are pushing this drug to be the "miracle pill". Maybe if enough people complain and go to the media, we can get rid of this drug!
My daughter who is 18 was put on Yasmin because of irregular periods, hormonal imbalance, etc. We were told it was the new “miracle pill”. It will make you loose weight, regulate your periods, clear up acne, you name it, it will fix it. Yeah, right.
She started taking this pill in March 2007. She was off at college but called to tell me she was experiencing horrible headaches, behind the eyes. She complained about her stomach hurting, but we just figured it was the stress of freshman year at college. Then she said she got where she couldn’t eat when she went to a restaurant. When she came home in May for the summer, I noticed a total personality change. For example, she was always a neat freak, and now she wouldn’t clean her room. The first day when she drove home, she started crying she was so mad about the traffic. Yes, she has always had a little road rage, but this was ridiculous.
By June, not only could she not be in crowds, like at a restaurant, but now she is having full blown panic attacks and IBS. We called the OBGYN and they said, “Yasmin won’t cause this, go see your primary doctor”. I knew that the only thing that had changed with her was taking the YASMINE. I knew it had something to do with all of this so I “Googled Yasmin” and this website (http://www.medications.com/se/yasmin) was the first one I looked at. All of her symptoms matched everyone else’s! I am so glad we found this website, it explained everything and I had her to stop Yasmin immediately.
So we went to the primary doctor, explained about the Yasmin and how we thought it was the culprit of everything. Of course this doctor also says, “Yasmin won’t cause that”. We told him to look it up on the internet and see how there are over 3000 complaints on this drug, more than any of the other drugs on the market.
Besides the emotional problems she starting having, her pulse and blood pressure was sky high, so he puts her on medicine for that, and puts her on an anxiety medicine and sends her to a psychiatrist. She is very thirsty all the time, and develops IBS. She can’t eat without having pains in her stomach. So, now we’ve have gone from having just irregular periods, to all of the above, plus a psychiatrist.
The psychiatrist doubles her medicine (and puts her Pamine for the IBS) because the panic attacks are gone, but she still is having a lot of nervousness, anxiety, can’t sleep at night, crazy thoughts, worrying all the time, etc. A month later he changes her medicine again, to Effexor. The first 2 weeks, she does okay, but the packet doubles the strength after 2 weeks. It takes 4 weeks for it to take full effect. Right after she doubles this medicine, it is like her senses are on hyper-mode. She can taste everything that is in her food (chili powder, seasonings, etc…), taste the metal in water, and she can hear someone’s phone vibrating, in another room.
Then she goes back to college at the end of August 2007, and it’s horrible. The Effexor is having bad, bad side effects. We called the psychiatrist that she was using at home and he doubled the dose. That was the worse thing they could’ve done. The side effects were worse than ever. I had her to immediately go to a psychiatrist on campus. She told him the whole story and he believed her! Needless to say we switched doctors. He then lowered her dose back down to ½ a dose and hopefully can slowly get her off of all this medicine.
The newest thing she has developed is being hypoglycemic. The campus psychiatrist sent her to a campus medical doctor and he told her that they would get to the bottom of this. He tested her for everything under the sun. Low blood sugar is the only thing they found. But, she hasn’t taken the Yasmin since May. No telling what the results would have came back like if it was done at the time she was taking Yasmin.
Thank goodness she has counselors and doctors there at the campus that believes that Yasmin can cause all of these problems, and are working with her. From what I have read from the people that have used this medicine, although most doctors do not agree, Yasmin takes like 6 months to get out of your system. I think I am going to believe the testimonials of the people who take this medicine, over a doctor who prescribes it.
If everyone goes to the media, their doctors, the FDA, congressmen, and make them aware of these horrible effects, surely we can get this drug off of the market! Does anyone know a class action lawyer that would pursue this? For my child to have to go through all of this is ridiculous, not to mention costly. What do we know of the long term effects this drug will have if it is doing all of this when you first start taking it?
If you have the same concerns as me about this drug, and would be interested in looking into a class action lawsuit, please email: ****** I would be interested to see how many would want to pursue this.

There are a lot of negative experiences on here, so I thought I should share my positive one. I have been on birth control off and on for about 6 years. I was on orthotricyclin for the majority of the time-off and on. After getting horrible near migraine headaches on orthotricylin every Friday before my period for about 5 months in a row my doctor and I decided to try a different pill. I was on trilevelin (sp) for 4 months and gained a few pounds and felt easily irritated and emotionally different-just cried easily and not myself. I've been on Yasmin for a month and have had a great experience. I lost the water weight I'd gained and just verified with my boyfriend that my PMS was hardly even there. Everyone is different and has different hormone levels, but so far I am very happy with Yasmin. I've been migraine free tthe whole month!

Wow, I'm so glad I found this website. I am not an anxious person, so when I began feeling really anxious and having heart palpitations it was really unusual for me, but I figured it was something situational. I never suspected Yasmin. I wanna go off of it, but am concerned about the side effects people have had in going off. Can anyone share how long it took to feel "back to normal" after going off of it, and anything that helped in the meantime. Thanks so much.

I have just come across this site, while looking to find out why I have been experiencing heart palpitations for the past two months - out of the blue!!! and usually "exercise" induced. I had some tests and have been told they are Premature Atrial Contractions "PACs". I started taking Yasmin in April, after having tried others over the past year (tri-cyclen lo and alesse) which did not work for me as the progestin was not strong enough. I am in my 40s and never took the pill before. Yasmin was great, it significantly reduced my "physical" pms (severe inflamation, severe bloating, severe sore breasts) which I experience for 2-3 weeks a month. However, sometime in mid to late June, I started getting palpitations/tremors out of the blue. The first episode freaked me out and lasted for about two weeks. At first I thought it was allergy medication mixed with my thyroid med, which can happen - but I cut out the allergy meds and still got them. They seem to come about 6hrs to a day after I fexercise/figure skate and they last from 2 to 5 five days. It's very irritating and nerve wracking, and I feel very agitated. I am also out of breath more than usual when walking up stairs, a little light headed and have some tightness in the chest. My legs also are weak, which makes no sense given my exercise regimen. I then lowered my thyroid replacement from .125 synthroid to .100 - too much thyroid med can cause some palpitations. Anyone who has mistakenly taken a second thyroid pill having forgotten that they already took one will understand. Even with the lower dose I am still getting the palpilations. I am totally at a loss as to why all of a sudden this is happening to me (perhaps perimenopause??). I have had the odd flutter here and there in my live, but nothing like this. It just doesn't make any sense ag ll. Can one's health just change like this overnight?. I am otherwise healthy, slim, have "lower" blood pressure (apprx 100-90/70-60)I skate 3 to 5 times a week, I have a full time job and yes I do push myself, but this is getting ridiculous. The only thing I can attribute it to is the Yasmin, ... but my symptoms only started after a few months not instantly, whereas it would seem that most of the the women here noticed the side effects faster. I hate to stop the Yasmin because I will have to return to pms "hell", but I suppose I will give it a try to see if the palpitations subside. At this point, I have been offered a low dose "beta blocker" and have refused. I am stunned to think that all of a sudden I have heart issues, especially since my Dr has always kidded me my that I will never have heart problems with my blood pressure. I will stop the Yasmin tonight and post another message in a few weeks one it is out my system. Here's hoping it is the Yasmin.

I am still trying to figure out all this yasmin stuff. I am the one whose 13 yr old daughter was given yasmin as sorta a favor because she was having long periods. It seem to me that yes, yasmin or yaz whatever the difference is works well for lots of people. Thats great i'm glad to hear that. What about the handful of women/girls that it does not work well for even potentially dangerous. I am starting to thinkl that the ones that have had bad reactions to this are the ones that didn't have good followup with thier obgyn. It seems to me that there is sometimes no association made with bcp and some of these adverse reactions. I mean when my daughter started to get sick and stuff I took her to the pediat. not the ob/soccer mom. I just happened to stumble upon this site in my own desperation to figure out why my daughter has been and is so chronically tired all the time. I do wish when I recieved these sample packs of strong hormones that i would have been told of things to look for. Honestly ,I don't think this doctor knew of these side effects. I will say they stopped the bleeding she hasn't been on yasmin since the end of march and still hasn't had a period. I was told this should be out of her system by now. I don't believe that though.

I also completely understand the decreased libido many report. If you think about it this way it makes total sense and none of are crazy! Yasmin increases serotonin in the body according to my research. SSRIs are a group of antidepressants that also increase serotonin in the body. SSRIs are NOTORIOUS for decreasing libido due to the increase in serotonin, so it makes sense Yasmin would also. For me this has been a troubling problem along with the others I mentioned. Interestingly I had increased depression and anxiety, but this couod be to the increased moodiness overall. I also agree with the palpitations and dizziness as I have these symptoms also from time to time. These could also be attributable to serotonin-mediated side effects.

I am a 34 year old and have been taking Yaz for almost a year.
I had some minor side effects until this past month when everything came apart at the seams. I do not know if yaz is the culprit - but the number of women with the EXACT SAME SYMPTOMS as me listed here SCARES THE HELL OUT OF ME.
My "minor" sude effects were the following:
* No period for 5 months
* No sex drive (was not the case before taking Yaz)
* Panic attacks / anxiety (no history fo this. My doc has now put me on Zoloft.)
* Bloating / weight gain
* Brown blotches (like age spots) on one side of my face
This is NOTHING compared to the last month of my life. Basically my life has sucked for the last month. Roughly a month ago my symptoms started with a red rash on the left side of my face and pain in my left ear that led to a migraine that has not gone away at all. (The pain level goes between a 5 and 10, but never lower than a 5.) The rash went away in 2 days, but my ear still hurts today (a month later).
My vertigo began roughly 5 days after the onset of my rash and ear pain and has been non-stop since. I've taken phenergan, valium, etc. - but they are not working. I get spinning/dizzy every time my head moves (up, down, left, right) and with up and down eye movement. It seems like my migraine pain intensifies when my vertigo hits me. If I lie completely still - I have no vertigo - but my migraine is still there. To make matters worse, I have become very disoriented, like I am in a fog all of the time. I am only 34 years old and feel like I am losing my mind. I cannot remember simple words at times and have a tough time completing sentences.
All of these symptoms coincide exactly to the day I began a new packet of the birth control pill called YAZ (Yasmin). I had taken this brand of pill for a year, and though it has worked (not pregnant) I have had some minor side effects up until the last month. The biggest side effect is that I have not had any period at all for the last 5 months. I have also had anxiety (no past history) and have no sex drive (not my normal self.) I stopped taking the pill about a week ago - after reading literally thousands of people with the same side effects I am experiencing on a website called medications.com (My neurologist also told me to stop taking it.)
I am NOT having ringing in my ears or loss of hearing. I mention this because I know other ailments have these as symptoms.
I have already been seen by my dentist, physical therapist, ENT, 2 neurologists and a gyn. So far - they are not helping. I have even been hospitalized for 5 days and all they really did was try and dope me up to sleep and had me take a very potent anti-migraine drug called DHE that must be administered over a 36 hour period via IV. Guess what? It did not work.
The most scary thing is that even though I get severe vertigo any time I move my head (even to the point of waking me up while I sleep) - NOT A SINGLE DOCTOR EVEN MENTIONED I MIGHT HAVE BPPV ( BENIGN PAROXYSMAL POSITIONAL VERTIGO) and they did not test for it at all. They were all interested in treating my month-long migraine with anti-migraine drugs. They all swore up and down that my vertigo was related to my migraine. They also said my fogginess was because I was "tired and sick" and many migraine sufferers are that way.
After my husband and I searched the internet and found dozens of websites, we are pretty much convinced that I have BPPV. We are going to get in front of a vestibular specialist ASAP.
So you know, I have been through a CT scan, two different MRIs, basic blood work on my white cell counts, thyroid levels, potassium, etc.
They have ruled out a sinus infection, brain tumor, pituitary tumor, stroke, blood clots, etc. They have simply treated me with anti-migraine medication - and it has been worthless. I have taken Topomax, Frova and DHE (the drug mentioned above) and my migraine is still there. These drugs have not helped one bit. My neurologist swore that the DHE would do the trick. Guess what? He was wrong.
I discharged myself from the hospital yesterday and am now at home.
I just want my normal life back. I cannot drive, work, take care of my family, etc.
My two biggest questions are:
DOES ANYONE KNOW IF BPPV CAN CAUSE MY MIGRAINE? The reason I ask is that the doctors all think that the migraine is causing my vertigo. All along they have been treating my migraine (with zero success) and have been giving me valium and antivert to simply mask my vertigo (no success there either.) No one has tried to really diagnose and treat my vertigo. Is it possible if I get my vertigo fixed my migraines will disappear?
DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY INFORMATION ABOUT BIRTH CONTROL PILLLS CAUSING BPPV? I saw woman after woman on medications.com have the same symptoms of vertigo, migraines and brain fog while taking the birth control pill Yasmin. I also know that my avalanche of symptoms eerily coincided with my first pill from a new pack. If they are related, I am most interested in what to do to get my hormones back on track in an effort to stop my vertigo.
This is all driving me crazy. A month ago I was absolutely normal. Now I am 100% disabled. I just want my life back.
Please help!

I posted a few reports on this site a few months ago and just thought to let you know how I feel after 10 months off Jasmin: well I feel great and back to my old self again.
Do not despair Ladies, if you want to go off Yasmin, please do it. Here is an account of what happened to me when I went off Yasmin:
1/ finished my last pill and waited for my periods.
First 2 months: periods came regularly/ SYMPTOMS OF VERTIGO AND GENERAL UNWELL FEELING WENT.
2/3rd and 4th months: horrible muscle pains with cramps, and very sore upper right arm: I went to see a physio who advised that I should carry on (even if I could hardly walk) walking once a day (10mns) and swimming for 20mns a week, and he also gave me a 'theraband' (elastic band) to exercise slowly my right arm. Although it gave me pain, I persisted and I did the swimming once a week and the walking once a day.
EAR CONGESTION : no improvement /
HEART MURMUR AND PALPITATIONS / no improvement
5th and 6th months: pains in my calves stopped but muscles were still weak, I carried on walking and swimming
EAR CONGESTION: SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT
HEART MURMUR AND PALPITATIONS/ NEARLY GONE
7th and 8th months: I started to gain more strenght and more stamina in my regular exercises.
EAR CONGESTION: NEARLY GONE
HEART MURMUR AND PALPITATION / GONE
9th and 10th months: BACK TO MY REAL STRENGHT AND I MANAGED TO CARRY A HEAVY RUCKSACK ON A WALKING HOLIDAY IN ANDALUCIA / Since I came back I've been really energetic! full of good humour and in an excellent mood.
I still do my regular exercises to keep my muscles in good shape.
So ladies, please do not despair, it will happen to you also!
And since I went off Yasmin, I have decided to leave my body alone and will never put it under drugs anymore.
Also, I have not seen one doctor since the end of June last year !! SO YASMIN IS THE CAUSE OF ALL YOUR TROUBLES AND PAINS.
BEST OF LUCK (DO NOT BE AFRAID OF SUFFERING AFTER YASMIN!)

If anybody KNEW how relieved I am to read these messages.... you guys just don't know! I stopped taking yasmin 2 weeks ago because I gained 30 pounds on it in one year. I have stretch marks, total loss of confidence, everything. THEN, when I read your messages I was so relieved to find out that a lot of women got anxiety from them too. For the past year I have been nothing but anxiety. My heart beats fast, I felt short of breath almost everyday, I couldn't drink a cup of coffee without getting palpitations and jitters for an hour, I felt fatigue everyday, I couldn't even have a normal workout routine because I would get tired after 10 minutes. And the WHOLE time I thought it was something else. I had no idea that it could have possible been yasmin because everybody told me it was too low of a dose to do anything. I'm so glad I'm off of it but I'm getting hotflashes and I'm only 19. I hopoe it will be over in a few weeks so I can be normal again. By the way, did anybody else get hotflashes while getting off of Yasmin??

Go get blood work done and have everything checked... especially your magnesium. I was having really bad palpitations and it turns out my magnesium was dangerously low (magnesium is an important mineral for your muscles, regulates heart rhythm). You may be depleting your body of minerals because of the diuretic in Yasmin, but go get your blood work done to make sure that's what is going on. I don't know what effexor is.
I am no longer on Yasmin and have an appointment next week for my magnesium levels. BTW- I feel great, I take a magnesium oxide tablet every morning for now.

If you are experiencing palpitations, chest pain, see your Doctor or go to ER immediately. Have your potassium levels checked promptly to ensure that you have not developed Hyperkalemia (excess potassium) in your blood which is likely and happened to me becuase of the potassium sparing diuretic in Yasmin*. Hyperkalemia can be lethal and is extremely dangerous and a risk taking Yasmin.
Erykah-I haven't seen anyone whose tried/used St. john's Wort but would recommend instead having your hormone levels and your adrenal function tested? Oftentimes, after Yasmin, becuase of the diuretic flushing that occurs (constant peeing/urinating) it throws off our electrolyte and mineral balances in addition to that it suppresses our adrenal glands. I have found success with B vitamins (A B stress tab) or a whole food/bio-available Vitamin*. The whole food and bioavailability part is really important-because it is what makes it more accessible/useable by your body. Also-take a calcium and magnesium supplement if you find you are low on magnesium which is one of the minerals Yasmin's diuretic depletes*. I'm taking one that is equivalent ratios: 1:1-1000 of each because minerals compete with one another so taking a calcium that is higher will not give you the benefit of the magnesium. Low magnesium levels effects the health of all the muscles in our bodies-including the heat and if oftentimes what causes the murmurs/palps.

I AM SO GLAD I FOUND THIS WEBSITE. I HAVE ANXIETY AND A COUPLE OF MONTHS AGO I HAD A BAD ANXIETY OR SO I THOUGT. THE DOCTOR THOUGHT IS WAS MORE LIKE A SEIZURE. I HAD TO HAVE AN EKG, STRESS TEST, EEG AND BLOODWORK DONE. AFTER ALL OF MY RESULTS CAME IN HE SAID THAT IS WAS PROBABLY STRESS SINCE I HAD JUST HAD AND A BABY 5 MONTHS BEFORE. I'M STILL TAKING YASMIN BUT AFTER TODAY I'M GOING TO SWITCH. I STILL FEEL PALPITATIONS ON A DAILY BASIS ALONG WITH SORENESS IN MY CHEST SINCE THAT NIGHT OF MY ANXIETY ATTACK. I AM GLAD I FOUND THIS WEBSITE AND THANK YOU FOR THE ADVICE!!

Hi IPJ!!
Well, thank you so much for your post!! It's another peace of hope for me and I think for many others also. Here in Germany the health system is not very comfortable these days so you sometimes really have to "fight" to get any kind of bloodwork done because everything seems to "expensive" to the docs...
So I didn't get my magnesium levels checked, yet, they always just did the "normal bloodwork" and simply don't know how my magnesium levels are. I always just felt the symptoms of magnesium deficiency (muscle problems, racing heart and palpitations, muscle hurting and so on...) and expected that the Yasmin and its diuretic had caused a magnesium deficiency (as I read from so many sites!!) in my body, too.
I'll have another bloodwork on Friday (had an appt. with my fam.doc yesterday and told him about my again upcoming symptoms), hopefully he'll find something.....
I wish you all the best IPJ and keep us posted!!

To flowerbabies and all the ladies -
Please read the earlier posts a few pages back the ones that were lengthy-one specifically I posted is on Magnesium and what decreases in it does to the body and what having ample prevents-ie. the muscle spasms so many women were complaining of/muscle twitches. It has also been linked to heart murmurs/palpitations.......
while I know several people thought that the lengthy postings were just too much but reading through, identified sources and likely possible causes of teh symptoms and effects of Yasmin!

hi all,
quest 36376, i am not sure what the verification email thing is all about, please try to register again it may just be a glitch,i will look into it for you.
i think some of the ladies have gone straight onto other pills but not sure which. i had an email from a lady the other day saying that she was put onto a high dose pill after yasmin as her Dr said yasmin had messed up her system by dropping her hormones too low.she said she felt fantastic on the older higher dose pill. may be something to research???
guest 36377,
i have no medical training at all just my own personal experience. i only had an ecg,my docotr agreed to do it after much pestering,i was sat at my pc one day when i felt really light headed and my vision went,my heart started to race then flop about in my chest like jelly,i seriously thought i was about to die! the nurse rigged up my ecg and she saw something (to this day i have no idea what) and she went to get my Gp who took a look at the tracing and just said it was just anxiety nothing to worry about and he sent me on my way. i find the flopping sensation and the palpitations are worse when i am tired or if i eat anything really sweet or if i have to many carbs. the chest pain comes along a day or 2 before my period and feels almost like i have been punched or have a cracked rib, sometimes i cannot get a full breath if that makes sense. i take a daily supplemet of magnesium, vitamin b6,b12 and zinc as well as calcium. calcium can be very good for the heart and muscles. i had chest pain when i was on yasmin,it was a stabbing sensation, now it is just a dull ache a couple of days a month. i have been off yasmin for 8 months. hope that helps a little. please try not to worry too much, i know it is scary but stress will make your heart beat more irregular.
guest 36378.
thank-you so much for your kind words,i hope that the new forum will be of great help to all ladies who want to post there and share their experience. we are yasmin survivors because we are looking for answers and we are fighting back!
best wishes to you all.

To All-After months of looking at this site and what has seemed to be a mix of just sorting through personal dialogues of individual conversations , it is almost the first time I have found some very helpful actual fact based research and information. So whomever is making all these posts, I truly appreciate it. Please continue.
I've been having what seem to be growing chest pains, most pronounced just before my period to the point it is almost unbearable. Have other women experienced this? It started two years into taking Yasmin but I've now been off for several months and it seems to be getting worse? Does anyone know what this is or could be attributed to? I've already been to the doctor who after an EKG said that it was normal but that I had developed a heart murmur? I've also noticed palpitations and irregularity of how my heart beats during these times. I would greatly appreciate some help/information.....Its becoming quite worrisome.
Thank you

hi syberlib. great ode to yasmin the "peril in pill form" !
i find it really weird that some people get symptoms when they stop yasmin, did you have any troublesome symptoms whilst taking it?
i was the opposite. i had dizziness, insomnia, depression,MAJOR anxiety, panic attacks, tingling and jumping limbs and restless legs as well as a sense of being smothered then there was also the ever present headache! as soon as i stopped taking it within days i felt phsically much better.the palpitations got less and less as did the headaches and the jumping, shaky feeling. The anxiety is proving to be a tough customer. although it is still there it is manageable most of the time and certainly getting less as time goes on. i have been off yasmin 8 months now. maybe age and childbirth are factors,i had taken dianette on and off since i was 14 up to the age of 22 and i never had a problem with it.never gained weight, got spots, heavy periods, nothing,it was perfect although i never stayed on it for more than 18months at a time as i have always been a little worried about the long term effects of messing with nature! i did not go back onto BCP's after the birth of my 1st child, A) because i didn't know when i wanted to start trying for my second and B) because my sex drive had gone into "park" i just couldn't be bothered so it seemed like a waste of time being on bcp's. after i had my second child i breast fed for a year then my doc put me on yasmin the new "wonder drug" he was right about the "wonder" part. within six months i "wondered" what the hell had happened to me. i was a shaky, poorly mental wreck.!!!!!
i have no idea what yasmin really does to the body but it has some really weird side effects. when i went to have blood tests when i was still on yasmin my blood was really thick,in fact the nurse asked if i was taking any blood thinning agents,i said no and she said i should be!! when i had another test 6 months after i stopped yasmin it was normal again as it had been before yasmin.??? not sure if it is linked but it was just another odd thing that has only happened whilst on yasmin. The heart flutterings also seem to be really common. i read a report on the side effects of yasmin i found on the english government site and it had a major number of pulmanary embolisms listed as reported effects, they were reported by medical staff not members of the public so some doctors somewhere know this stuff is poison. they pulled some of the older brands saying they caused blood clots and strokes etc but yasmin seems to be just as bad if not worse! i never heard of any of these side effects with the older brand of pill.the worst you got was a bit of bloating and maybe some weight gain and if you were one of the really unluck ones maybe a DVT.
once again i have ended up writting a hugely long post,i never mean to but once i start ranting about this devil in white i can't stop!

hi kim123.
i am not sure if b12 drops would make you more anxious or not. i take it in a b complex. it is so hard to know what will make us worse or better. i just tried taking a high dose fish oil for a few days but that seemed to make my physical symptoms worse. ie palpitations, agitation, racing heart and mild diarroea, not sure why that should happen as epa is meant to be very useful for anxiety and depression but it just goes to show how different we all are. i have tried many "natural remedies" that have given me an upset stomach or other mild symptoms. i used to be able to tolerate most things but cannot now,i don't know why. anything containing pseudoephidrine gives me really bad anxiety for some odd reason. i have taken it for years prior to yasmin. i agree with dejay that our brain chemicals have changed in some way as different drugs affect the 4 different receptors in our brain responsible for mood, sleep.body functions etc. oh joy!!!!!!! i hope that the natural balance can be restored naturally in time. i am going to give accupuncture a try and also maybe some hypnotherapy,i figure it can't hurt at this stage in the game. please have faith kim. i know it sounds easy to say but it will get better, the one thing we all have is time, devote some to your recovery and i'm sure you will feel better soon.

Guest 34613.
hi, i had recurrent sore throats for about 5 months after i stopped taking yasmin. i also had a tight feeling in my chest as well as constant ear congestion.i still have the blocked ear. someone posted here a while back about bcp being odotoxic ie toxic to the ear. i ceratinly felt down and depressed and suffered major anxiety. my nails broke constantly and my hair started to fall out. also my sking became spotty and greasy. thankfully all these things are going away now,i have been off yasmine since june. i have also read that the pill can effect your adrenal glands,in fact it does state in the warning not to take if you are suffering from adrenal fatigue. i think that that has something to do with the anxiety that a lot of women feel,i think the adrenals are over stimulated which in turn causes a constant feeling of panic and doom. i hope that will help you a little.
hi kim123.
i really feel for you, i just want to be a ble to help you as it is terrible to read that you feel so bad. it is possible that you have now got an anxiety disorder caused by the trauma you have suffered,i am sure that is what i was left with once the effects of the yasmin lessened. look up anxiety/panic disorder. i am sure you will find many of your symptoms. don't panic it does not mean you are crazy or anything like that. it just means that you have learnt a new behaviour that your body automatically responds to.ie it acts innapropriately by giving you a huge rush of adrenalin when it is not needed.this then leads to palpitations, agitation, panic feelings, blurred vision, ringing in the ears etc etc. i bought a really good programme by charles linden that had quite a few good tips in it and also an ebook called panic away by joe barry. both these books helped me to fight back. i could not even leave my house this time last year. in july this year i went on holiday to spain and have been out and about ever since.that is something i never thought i would do again.i thought i was going to be a shut in for the rest of my life. if you are really struggling it may be an idea to go and see your doctor and see if they can help you or suggest something else. i know some doctors can be very sympathetic.mine weren't so i found my own solutions but each doctor is different.
good luck to you kim123.i really hope you start to see the light soon.

sylvia,
wow what an awful experience! i have had problems with my ear since aug 05, same thing, was given pseudoephidrine to clear the "congestion" of course it did not work as my ear is not congested. the only thing that happened, similar to your experience is that the pseudoephidrine gave me palpitations and hightened my anxiety! i later found out this is a common side effect. i now take mucron,it contains ephidrine not pseudoephidrine and does not seem to cause the same reaction. i went to spain this year and took 1 mucron 2 hours before the flight then another as i boarded the plane. i also took a menthol inhaler as menthol will keep sinuses clear on the flight and also i chewed gum and sucked menthol sweets. and drank loads of water and my flight was problem free.i had no problems with my ears or nausea at all. hopefully some of this will be helpful to you. look up blocked Eustachian tube . may be some tips on flying with this problem?

Hi, not sure if these are all an effect of Yasmin but have been on it about 7 months now and have experienced things I haven't before...Migraines and headaches as soon as I wake up, sluggish and nearly always tired, change in appetite, anxiety and palpitations, breathlessness occassionally. Loss of energy to go to the gym etc. Dizziness. Slight depression and emotional. Sounds great eh?! Before this I had Logynon which I came off because of various other reasons...it just seems to get worse yet the doctors say I am 100% healthy!

Hi everyone,
It has been a while since I posted so I wanted to say hello and let you know that things do get better. I am now 8 months Yasmin-free. I am still on the effexor xr (still 37.5mg/day) for the anxiety that the Yasmin caused. I am totally off of Xanax now and cannot wait to be off of the effexor.
My bloodwork came back this week. Thank God that my thyroid and almost everything else is now OK. However, my cholesterol and triglycerides are way too high. And... since starting effexor, I gained 15 lbs. I need to get off of it, but the doc won't let me.
But the good news is that the tremors, the blackouts, leg pains, palpitations, brain zaps etc.... that I was experiencing on Yasmin are pretty much gone. And, I am so much better to my husband and kids now that I am off of the evil "Yasminpoison"!
I am in my mid-30's and never thought that this would happen to me. I lost so much time off of my life because of that little poison pill.
Your posts are so powerful and help me understand that I am alone in this. You should never feel alone in this, so many of us have suffered and are suffering terrible effects of Yasmin.
take care everyone!

here here silke!
i too was surprised at the "2 weeks and great "post! i thought yasmin was a wonder pill for the 1st 6 months i was on it,my skin cleared up,my periods were a doddle,no water retention,no cramping.i went on holiday and took 2 packs back to back and bang........ my life turned upside down! i was sooo anxious i was scared to go out,i was scared to stay in ,i cried,i had nighmares, terrifying thoughts,i couldn't eat,i couldn't sleep,i just cried all the time,i couldn't deal with my kids,i was scared to be around them because i thought i had gone crazy,i lost 35lbs because i physically could not eat or if i did i was sick,i felt dizzy,my ears felt muffled,my vision was blurred and i just felt like i was going to die. i had constant panic attacks, palpitations, racing heart,shaking...the list goes on and on,i was put on diazepam but that made me worse.i struggled on until i found this site by accident,i stopped taking yasmin 5 weeks ago and am already feeling much better,my anxiety levels have dropped massively and the panic attacks are getting easier to deal with. if yasmin works for you then that's great, were all different but please remember that we are not all so lucky! we are all here to share our experiences of yasmin and to give each other help and advice if we can, femalepara...i am glad that yasmin is relieving some of your ailments and i sincerely hope that it carries on working for you as it does for some women but please please bare in mind that if you get ANYTHING unusal, like nausea, bowel problems, depression or any of the symptoms discussed on here,it could be that yasmin has struck again.

hi all,i have been off yasmin for 3 days now,i am not expecting any miracles yet! i stopped taking it with 5 pills still in the pack so expect to get a withdrawl bleed any day now, it may be all in my head but my anxiety seems less although i still get palpitations at night, the only down side is i seem to have had a pressure headache for the last 2 days and also a sore throat, could be a coicidence, that is the trouble as we do not know exactly what yasmin does and does not do it's hard to say "oh it's definately this that or the other"! My philosophy at the moment is ..... it may make a difference it may not but either way i know i am still going to have to cope with the aftermath and the memories of the anxiety but by stopping pumping my body full of artificial hormones i can rule it out as a cause of my weird and not so wonderful symptoms! Thanks to all have posted your stories on here,i felt so alone and felt that maybe i was going crazy,my doctors just wanted to send me to the shrink and put me on pills. but now i have taken control of my situation i feel much improved mentally even if not physically yet, hopefully that will come once this crap is out of my system! you're all stars and i wish you all the best with your recovery! i will be sending my sceptical pill pushing dr to this site so maybe he will think twice next time someone comes in feeling like we have and is taking yasmin!

hi all, it sounds like i may have come to the right place, hopefully someone can help me. i started taking yasmin in jan 05 after stopping breastfeeding my then 1 year old. All seemed fine but 1 year ago i started to get severe anxiety attacks and panic attacks paraniod episodes as well as numbing in my face, twitching in my left eye, palpitations, stomach cramps, constipation or worse the other extreme! and raging headaches that feel like someone is crushing my head.My doctor told me i was suffering from anxiety disorder and put me in touch with a counceller and gave me a prescription for diazepam, i came off the diazepam and have been trying natural congnitive therapy for my anxiety (which has given me a foem of agoraphobia, not great with 2 kids that want to go out all the time!) i have been looking into the hormone link as i seem to feel worse about 9 days before my period then i came across this site, i am seriously considering stopping taking this pill ,is not needed anyway as sex is the last thing on my mind these days. does this sound familiar to any-one? did your anxiety improve when you stopped taking the yasmin, i am scared that it will make it worse if i stop but i know that i have to take that risk to find out if it is the yasmin that is making me ill, help i feel like a total crank most of the time,i want to go back to being normal!

I am due for my pd tomorrow (my 1st cycle off yasmin) and my palpitations and anxiety are much worse than they were last week.
This is all soooo scary! I hope that my cycle returns to normal now that i am post-yasmin.
The anxiety this weekend and today are pretty bad. I have to see the doc on Friday.
Has anyone else experienced more intense symptoms when they are due for their pd and are on month 1 post-yasmin???
Good luck everyone and thank you!

Hi again -
I just received this from the FDA in response to my submission...
"One or two well-documented case reports may provide an early signal of unexpected problems and lead to additional evaluation. This may result in FDA regulatory actions that improve the safety of the products used in patient care each day."
If they only need "One or two" case reports, let's give them a few hundred!!! The more red flags that go up, the faster they'll take action. Spend a few minutes at www.fda.org and give them your complaints - PLEASE!!!
I get so frustrated because I spent months following "false leads" because absolutely NOTHING in Yasmin's product literature warned about palpitations, anxiety attacks, etc! If there had been some mention, I could've saved myself months of misery and worry (not to mention trips to cardiologists, gynecologists and the like!) I could've figured out what was going on and done something about it before things got so bad.

Hi everyone -
I'm brand new to this site and I can't tell you how glad I am to have found it!
I'm 41 years old with no history of any serious health problems. In February of last year, I started feeling run-down, depressed, etc. (first time ever). By April, I went to my gynecologist and was diagnosed with an ovarian cyst and put on Yasmin to help it resolve. After the cyst cleared up, I stayed on the Yasmin because I liked how it worked for birth control (never used BCP's before this). At the same time, I was diagnosed hypothyroid. A few months into treatment for both, I started having tachycardia/palpitations/pounding heart, severe depression, anxiety attacks. These were all written off by my docs as related to the hypothyroidism. My doctors and I kept thinking once we had that under control, the symptoms would resolve.
Well, the hypo has been under control for about three months, but the heart and anxiety symptoms continued to get worse.
I decided to dump the Yasmin about 7 weeks ago, because I couldn't figure out what else could be causing all the symptoms. My heart started feeling better in about 3-4 weeks, although the depression and anxiety lingers on (but are both improved).
I am not a very patient person and the idea of "waiting this out" is awful - but your postings have given me a lot of hope that all of this will eventually go away.
I would like to suggest that everyone spend a few minutes reporting their side effects to the FDA. If you go to www.FDA.GOV, there is a section where you can report adverse reactions yourself - without having to convince your doctor to do it for you. Under the section "Let Us Hear From You", there's an option to "Report a Problem with a Product". It takes about 10-15 minutes to complete. If enough people file complaints, they'll have to do SOMETHING, won't they? ;-) And just the act of "ratting out the makers of Yasmin" is very satisfying....
Good luck to everyone!

to the last two postings about the side effects.
i just want you to both know that everything ur feeling i have felt too!!
i was on yasmin for a month and had to stop taking it because it was making me anxious, giving me palpitations and i had chest pains and an ache in my left arm.
i went to hospital twice cos the palpitations and pains got so bad.. i thought i was having a heart attack!
im only 23!.. i did lose my libido for a couple of months and yes my breasts went up a whole bra size and they were so sore!!
its definitely yasmin that is causing both of you these problems. my doctor also told me to get my thyroid checked which i did and also had numerous blood tests which all came back fine.
ive now been off this pill for 5 months and i am feeling much better. i am just getting back my energy and finally the heart palps and anxiety is easing up..... it gets harder around the time i ovulate and the week of my period but its easier than the first two months.
i can not stress to you more to get off this pill!! its a nightmare...
lots of luck to you both

you can take suppliments for it... i didnt only because my mum wasnt too keen on the idea of me putting anything else in my body lol... so i just let it pass on its own....
ask your doctor though because they can tell you what you should take.. i cant remember the name sorry darls...
also the palpitations stopped for me after 4 months... but i would have them everyday for that whole time... now i just get them when im ovulating or when im having my period....
it will ease up on its own i promise!! i know you maye feel like its never ending but ur body just needs to detox...

to the posting about the racing heart,
i have been off yasmin for 5 months and at the start my heart rate was anywhere between 90 to 120 beats everyday!!!
its gotten a lot better now and its dropped to around 85 but sometimes i do get palpitations for no reason at all...
try not to focus on taking your pulse all the time cos this could make you more aware of it which could make you more anxious....
just remember all the symptoms will fade eventually and you'll be back to normal....
i understand how scary it is though believe me.... i was in hospital twice cos i thought i was having a heart attack...
i wish you all the best for a speedy recovery and just remember your never alone in this.

I have been on Yasmin for 2 1/2 years - and I always thought it was a blessing. I had very heavy, irregular periods before Yasmin, and now they are light and regular. The only thing that showed up on a test during the first year was a slightly higher triglyceride level, but it was still healthy.
However, last December I had what I thought was a heart attack. I went to the ER with palpitations, and they told me that I had high blood pressure, pulse, and low blood oxygen. After sitting in ER for about 30 minutes everything went back to normal, they said I had acid reflux and prescribed medication for that. The problems never really went away, and I have been to see my doctor at least once a month with different symptoms all the time. Before this I only went to the Dr once a year for my pap - I never got sick! Ever! She told me it was stress and anxiety, and didn't even look into anything else even though I insisted it had to be more than that. Every time I go to see her my blood pressure is always normal, as is everything else.
Sometimes when I am sitting at my desk at work or lying in bed reading I will start to panic for no reason at all and feel like I can't breathe, when if fact I have no problems breathing at all. I also get colds and allergies when I never had these problems before.
I'm not overweight, and I do cardio exercise everyday with no side effects so the Dr's rule out any heart problems. I never thought to blame Yasmin for my problems, and maybe I should make a switch to something else.
Has anyone switched to another BCP with better results?

I can't believe what I've read. I've been on Yasmin for 2 1/2 years and developed symptoms 4 months ago that sent me to the hospital twice. I had hear palpitations, high blood pressure, anxiety (which only made it worse) and almost passed out. I've had an EKG done and an ultrasound on my adrenal glands and kidneys. I am now on blood pressure medicine and Paxil for my anxiety. My panic attackes made my blood pressure so high (170/100) my doctor gave me Ativan to take "just in case." All these things seem to worsen at night even thought they have been greatly controlled by medicine. Neither me nor my doctors suspected Yasmin until my friend (also on Yasmin for 2 1/2 years) has started having the same symptoms. Yasmin is our only thing in common we could figure out. I was just doing a search on it to see if I could find out if Yasmin could be causing our symptoms. I actually have an appointment with a cardiologist next week to find out what is wrong with my heart and if there is any damage. I've never had any similar symptoms ever in my life on any other birth control pills. I'm only 28.

After reading the post by guest 12715, I did a search on symptoms of low potassium and this is what I found
Weakness, tiredness, or cramping in arm or leg muscles, sometimes severe enough to cause inability to move arms or legs due to weakness (much like a paralysis)
Tingling or numbness
Nausea or vomiting
Abdominal cramping, bloating
Constipation
Palpitations (feeling your heart beat irregularly)
Passing large amounts of urine or feeling very thirsty most of the time
Fainting due to low blood pressure
Abnormal psychological behavior (depression, psychosis, delirium), confusion, or seeing or hearing things (hallucinations)
Sounds like the list of symptoms some of us are experiencing.
Since Yasmin contains a diuretic and diuretics are a cause of low potassium this kind of makes sense. Might be worth getting it checked out. I have been off Yasmin for 6 weeks now and I'm still experiencing nausea, tiredness, abdominal bloating and thirst.

Wow! I can't believe how many of us suffers from the pill from hell, Yasmin. I stopped taking it September 17 after 5 years and I'm worried as hell as to what's going to happen to my body now. But first things first. I seem to have gotten pretty much every side effect in the book.
About a month after starting it I got gastroparesis- paralyzed stomach- and I also became lactose-intolerant after 30 years of drinking a lot of milk. Go figure! I get a huge bloated belly as soon as I drink a little water even now. I have gained about 6 lbs that I can't shake no matter how much I work out and that has never been a problem before.
I had migraines from hell and headaches nearly every day the last few years.
I got panic attacks and was very nervous, had anxiety and it felt like an elephant was sitting on my chest. And that is SO NOT me or anybody in my family. And I know it was the pill cuz I had no reason to feel that way.
I had blurry vision at times. Fainted once in the mall for no apparent reason, I had never fainted before in my life.
I had no interest in my own life or in doing anything whether that was working, going to school, exercising, going out with friends, traveling, whatever it was I was not interested. Again, so not me. I could have died and I wouldn't have cared. I could have gotten a Ferrari and I wouldn't have cared.
I could sleep 10 hours a night, take 1-2 hour naps in the afternoon and go to sleep again at 10 pm, no problem. And the nightmares! Holy crap. Awful dreams about plane crashes, robberies and murderers EVERY night. Thankfully they seem to have disappeared now.
I have high cholesterol, through the roof actually! -no family history there either- and blood pressure is a little high but not too bad. My thyroid was a little elevated last time and the doctor thought it was due to Yasmin.
I snap at everybody and think that I don't love my husband when I actually do love him a lot. He has put up with me being so unbelievably bitchy for 5 year. Bless his soul!
Since I started Yasmin we have had sex about 1-3 times a year. I'm NOT kidding. I haven't wanted anything to do with sex.
I have heart palpitations at times. Shortness of breath just walking up the stairs in my house.
Dry skin no matter what cream I use. Major hair loss.
I went off Yasmin once before and didn't get my period back for over 6 months so I just started taking it again like an idiot cuz I wasn't planning to have kids then anyway.
I was never happy, never sad. Mostly mad or irritated, no problems there.
What else? How many hours do you girls have to read my post? ;-)
To sum it up. Yasmin has destroyed my life for the past 5 years but I was to blind and scared to get pregnant before that I just didn't care. And not caring about my own health was surely caused by that rotten pill too.
What can I expect now that I'm off the pill since 2 weeks? How long before the hormones are gone from my body? What can I expect and when does it get better? Can I go to the ob/gyn after 2-3 months if I don't get my period and have them give me something to start it? Or would that be bad? What about the weight, should it go up or down? Acne? Hair loss? What else? Have you had any medical problems that you needed medicines for due to Yasmin? How long has it taken you to get your period back? And most importantly; can this pill make me infertile???
If there is a class action lawsuit I want to be in it!
