I was on Yasmin for 4 months. I HATED IT!!! What is the point of being on birth contraol if you never are able to have sex? I was constantly bleeding after the 1st month. It was as if I had my period for 3 striaght months - every single day. And not just spotting, heavy flow. I was depressed, miserable and in so much pain. I had constant cramps and back pain. I went to the ER 2 times because of this and I was told the 1st time that it was just my body's way of getting used to a different pill. After I was on it for 3 months, I went to the ER a second time because I was in so much pain and bleeding so heavily, that I could not get out of bed. I actually had to wear Depends, pads were not nearly enough! The dr at the ER the 2nd time told me that he has had a ton of cases with girls on Yasmin with the same problem and to stop taking it immediatly. About 3 or 4 days after I stopped taking it, everything was back to normal - Thank God! I was extremely hesitant to try another pill after that, but I decided to give Ortho Tri Cyclin Lo a chance and I love it. No random bleeding, no cramps and my periods are always light. Yasmin should be taken off of the market. I have a bunch of friends who tried it and went through the same problems I did.

I can agree with the many women who have spoken out against Yasmin. I have been taking it for about 6 years, so when I first started there was no negative media about it. I can say from experience that this pill's worst side effect are the head aches. I have never had migraines till this medicine.

I got on Yasmin for acne and to lessen my periods, but my face was never really clear even while on a face medicine and luckily my periods were lighter. However, now that I have been off Yasmin for a week and a half my face has totally cleared up, I have lost 4 pounds and my head aches are still continuing while my body adjusts to not contantly ingesting hormones.

I thought Yasmin was so great while I was first on it, but since I've been in college I would reccomend trying something else( but not Loestrin because I didn't have a period at all on that)!! So, do tons of research before choosing a pill because doctors are just saying what the pharmaceudical sales reps tell them...the pills are generall new and the side effects are not known.

I was on Yasmin for about 2 years. For the first year I could not have been happier. My period was regular and it was light. I would start 4 days after my last active pill and it would last about 2 days. Before this pill I only had a few periods a year. After about a year, I became extremely emotional for weeks at a time. I would start crying over anything and everything. I could be fine one minute and an emotional wreck the next. It would start on week two of my pac and last until my period was over. I had never been this emotional before taking the pills. I never had weight gain, had a few headaches (but had those before BC), never had acne, not really any breast tenderness, did/do have a small problem with my contacts (I dont think that is specifically Yasmin, but I hear this with most OBC), but I just can't handle the emotional rollercoaster every month. It was starting to affect my marriage. Yasmin was perfect in every other way, but I hate feeling like I will cry if someone looks at me wrong. My doctor switched me to Loestrin 24 and I have been on it now for a couple of days. I still have the emotional side effects of Yasmin but I kind of expect that until my body gets used to Loestrin 24. If this doesnt work I will try a different pill.

I am 21 and have been on YAZ for 6 months, I am soo happy I came across this website. I only went on it (my first BC pill) because my periods are like 8 days long and on the first day I become so sick I can most often barley even function w/o the help of pain killers (in addition to pregnancy prevention). I am about to throw this last pack out I cannot take it anymore. My boobs were naturally a large B small C ...they have exploded into a large D..it does not fit on my frame...no clothes fix me and my stomach is never flat always bloated!!!
I did not change any of my diet or exercise patterns. My boobs are so painful alll the time, I sleep w/ a bra on sometimes. I was always a moody person but recently I have been having crying spells for no reason or overreacting and at times embarassing myself. I was about to call a shrink to go on anti-derpressants! My boyfriend has been verbally attacked for the msot ridiculous things. I do not feel like myself. I called my doc and he said this one should not me doing this to me. My periods last for 6 days and sometimes I still have debilitationg craps. I have also been suffering from IBS!
He gave me a sample of LOESTRIN24? I read the side effects and they sound just as bad!! At this point I'm willing to deal w/ the cramps and use another form of pregnancy prevention! Does anyone have any advice? I want the cramps to go away and I want no weight gain unless it is from eating too much!! not the hormones! Thanks and good luck to everyone

I started out on Estrostep, then Triphasil, then Orthotricyclin-lo, and now I am currently on Yasmin. I have noticed I have more mood swings with yasmin, more acne (i used to have a VERY clear face), and a sex drive that is barely there!!! Also,I have headaches, some mild and some severe, just about everyday!! Most of them come on suddenly, and last for quite some time! Tylenol helps, but doesn't take them away! Although I do have side effects, my periods have become MUCH shorter (from about 14 days before any birth control pills, to about 9 with the above mentioned pills, to like 4 days with Yasmin) and with very little cramping. With all of the pills i've been on, i've noticed some weight gain associated, but nothing severe! If anyone has any suggestions to a pill that has fewer side effects, please let me know! ~Thanks

I lterally just starting taking Yasmin today. I used to take Tri-phasil, but found it just wasn't keeping my mood in check over the last 6 months, not to mention I was suddenly getting 2 periods a month. So, I stopped taking the pill for a month, and after seeiong ads for YAZ ended up with Yasmine after visiting my Dr.
My questions for the ladies with symptoms of anxiety and mood swings: Did you not have these symptoms before starting the pill? If so, are you saying that Yasmin made them worse?
Also, I would be curious to find lout what BC pills you NOW use, and how the hormone dose compares to Yasmin. The Tri-phasil I used to take was stronger than Yasmin. If I begin to feel any side effects using Yasmin, I will have to assume that I just need something stronger and will begin with Tri Phasil again.

When a class action lawsuit is filed, let me know....this drug should be taken of off the market immediately. We started all of this with an OB/GYN that prescribed this “miracle pill” and now have had to go not only to our primary doctor, but also a psychiatrist, gastrenologist, college campus counselors, psychologists, psychiatrist, and the campus medical doctors; All the while, accumulating enormous doctor bills. All the doctors say, "No, Yasmin won't cause those problems" (except the college campus doctors..wonder why? Hmm.. could it be that they are not in private practice?)....well, I beg to differ. Everyone needs to give this website to their doctor so the doctors can hear from the patients that have taken this drug, and not listen to the pharmaceutical companies that are pushing this drug to be the "miracle pill". Maybe if enough people complain and go to the media, we can get rid of this drug!
My daughter who is 18 was put on Yasmin because of irregular periods, hormonal imbalance, etc. We were told it was the new “miracle pill”. It will make you loose weight, regulate your periods, clear up acne, you name it, it will fix it. Yeah, right.
She started taking this pill in March 2007. She was off at college but called to tell me she was experiencing horrible headaches, behind the eyes. She complained about her stomach hurting, but we just figured it was the stress of freshman year at college. Then she said she got where she couldn’t eat when she went to a restaurant. When she came home in May for the summer, I noticed a total personality change. For example, she was always a neat freak, and now she wouldn’t clean her room. The first day when she drove home, she started crying she was so mad about the traffic. Yes, she has always had a little road rage, but this was ridiculous.
By June, not only could she not be in crowds, like at a restaurant, but now she is having full blown panic attacks and IBS. We called the OBGYN and they said, “Yasmin won’t cause this, go see your primary doctor”. I knew that the only thing that had changed with her was taking the YASMINE. I knew it had something to do with all of this so I “Googled Yasmin” and this website (http://www.medications.com/se/yasmin) was the first one I looked at. All of her symptoms matched everyone else’s! I am so glad we found this website, it explained everything and I had her to stop Yasmin immediately.
So we went to the primary doctor, explained about the Yasmin and how we thought it was the culprit of everything. Of course this doctor also says, “Yasmin won’t cause that”. We told him to look it up on the internet and see how there are over 3000 complaints on this drug, more than any of the other drugs on the market.
Besides the emotional problems she starting having, her pulse and blood pressure was sky high, so he puts her on medicine for that, and puts her on an anxiety medicine and sends her to a psychiatrist. She is very thirsty all the time, and develops IBS. She can’t eat without having pains in her stomach. So, now we’ve have gone from having just irregular periods, to all of the above, plus a psychiatrist.
The psychiatrist doubles her medicine (and puts her Pamine for the IBS) because the panic attacks are gone, but she still is having a lot of nervousness, anxiety, can’t sleep at night, crazy thoughts, worrying all the time, etc. A month later he changes her medicine again, to Effexor. The first 2 weeks, she does okay, but the packet doubles the strength after 2 weeks. It takes 4 weeks for it to take full effect. Right after she doubles this medicine, it is like her senses are on hyper-mode. She can taste everything that is in her food (chili powder, seasonings, etc…), taste the metal in water, and she can hear someone’s phone vibrating, in another room.
Then she goes back to college at the end of August 2007, and it’s horrible. The Effexor is having bad, bad side effects. We called the psychiatrist that she was using at home and he doubled the dose. That was the worse thing they could’ve done. The side effects were worse than ever. I had her to immediately go to a psychiatrist on campus. She told him the whole story and he believed her! Needless to say we switched doctors. He then lowered her dose back down to ½ a dose and hopefully can slowly get her off of all this medicine.
The newest thing she has developed is being hypoglycemic. The campus psychiatrist sent her to a campus medical doctor and he told her that they would get to the bottom of this. He tested her for everything under the sun. Low blood sugar is the only thing they found. But, she hasn’t taken the Yasmin since May. No telling what the results would have came back like if it was done at the time she was taking Yasmin.
Thank goodness she has counselors and doctors there at the campus that believes that Yasmin can cause all of these problems, and are working with her. From what I have read from the people that have used this medicine, although most doctors do not agree, Yasmin takes like 6 months to get out of your system. I think I am going to believe the testimonials of the people who take this medicine, over a doctor who prescribes it.
If everyone goes to the media, their doctors, the FDA, congressmen, and make them aware of these horrible effects, surely we can get this drug off of the market! Does anyone know a class action lawyer that would pursue this? For my child to have to go through all of this is ridiculous, not to mention costly. What do we know of the long term effects this drug will have if it is doing all of this when you first start taking it?
If you have the same concerns as me about this drug, and would be interested in looking into a class action lawsuit, please email: ****** I would be interested to see how many would want to pursue this.

I've been taking Yasmin for almost 2 years now. I was first put on it after being diagnosed with PCOS (polycystic ovary syndrome). In the passed few months, I have found myself so tired, restless, having insomnia, anxiety, acute panick attacks, hives all over from the anxiety. I thought I was losing it. My only dilemma now is that if I do go off the BCP, I am at risk again for no periods, high blood pressure, weight gain, diabetes, cancer...alot of stuff. So, anyone else out there with PCOS who has had these symptoms, and gone of the BCP..what did you have to do in order to keep your horomones in balance?

I have been on Yaz for a few weeks. The side effects are awful. I am 31 and haven't been on BCP's since 1999. I sat down with my NP to explore different options for dealing with my terrible periods and she thought Yaz was the answer.
Well I have averaged about 4 hours of sleep a night since starting it. Because Yaz is like a diuertic I am up peeing all night as well.I feel anxious and panicky. Normally I am very laid back but feel like I am going nuts. The thing that drives me the most crazy is having restless legs while lying in bed. Time to get my potassium checked? I will be stopping this med as nothing should make you feel this bad. Not worth it.As a nurse I would never tell my patients to take this. I feel like an idiot for starting a pill that 1000's of women on the internet are complaining about.Of course you would never see the positive comments. But this pill sucks!

I am a 32 yo Mother to 4 children. My ONLY purpose for taking Yasmin was to control the severity of my periods. After the fourth child my periods became so heavy, crampy and unbearable that I had to do something. I have been on Yasmin for a little over a year now and all I can say is had I known then what I know now...I wouldn've said to hell with that!!!

Mood Swings, I mean my god ladies, they are awful, my husband of 10 years never once called me a Bitch and now I hear it all the time it seems, the weight gain was off and on. My metabolisim slowed to a stop basicaly, my hair started to fall out of my head and found itself on my face. The sobbing for no reason (at a dog commercial ladies..a dog commercial) constantly being tired, then not being able to sleep when i knew I was exhausted.

My libido was non exsistant which caused termoil in my marriage for a period of time. There was nothing I could do. I felt so helpless. Out of control, sad, sick, and in general just BLAH!

Secondly the medication was supposed to help reduce the severity of my periods and make them shorter..HA HA HA HA HA!! That's the biggest joke. They are still the same now as they ever were. 8-9 days, filling a super pad within and hour and a half, having to wear both tampons and pads just to go out in public. I have had no pills for a week. I quit cold turkey so to speak and I have had spotting lots of spotting, headaches, and bloating associated with nausea. I am glad that I am off of the Yasmin pill and I'll never go on Yasmin again!

I would love to know of a lawsuit pending against them, so that I could be returned all the money I spent in copays, to feel worse than I did before I started taking it.

Hello everyone, I was amazed when I found this site! I was just searching and searching websites to get answers for symtoms I was having and nothing seemed to get answered. I've been on Yasmin for approximately 6-7 years, at first I did not have many problems with it, it did clear up my acne problem, my periods are lighter, everything else is pretty much the same (i.e. mood swings). Since I have been on it, lately I have been experiencing a lot of different problems, small amounts of spotting, depressed at times, A LOT of migraines/headaches. Lately I don't know what to do, I have gain weight on Yasmin since I've been on it, I've probably have gained about 25-40lbs (in that range) I have thought about getting off of it, but I'm not sure if I can or if I should, are there any side effects of getting off of Yasmin? I want to be more happier not depressed. Any thoughts?

I decided to get on birthcontrol because i had horrible cramps, acne probs and i would get really depressed before Id start my period, and I am also married now and no means ready to have a baby. I went to my doc and she prescribed me yasmin. Before i started takeing it i came along this site. I never wanted to get on birthcontrol before because I have always been afraid of the side effects, then after reading everyone else;s comment about the pill i got even more worried, but i decided to give it a shot anyways, that i could always just stop taking the pill.

Well its been almost two months and I dont really have any complaints yet. My periods are better and shorter. I barely have any cramps. Acne tho is about the same, but i also have heard it takes about 3 months for it to totally start clearing your skin. I have no weight gain or loss. My moods are about the same as they were before. Not any worse or any better.

the only thing i have notice is sometimes id get light cramps and backache...but they come and go...and its not that big of a deal to me because its not painful and its not all the time.

anyways, i thought it be nice to have some positive feedback

I have been on my "period" for 12 weeks now, and about a month ago my gyn. prescribed Yasmin for me. I have now been taking Yasmin for exactly 3 weeks, and I have been amazed by what I have read in this site! I met my live-in b.f. 2 1/2 years ago, and used to be such a fun, energetic, hopefull, and loving person. I took Yasmin for a couple of months in 2005, and looking back,...after stopping the pill because of extreme mood swings, that is also when my panic disorder came about. I never have been able to understand why a person like me, who once had so much to offer had become a walking basket case having very frequent, debilitating panic attacks. I am blessed to have such a concerned, and compassionate b.f. and he has told me that he has seen an extreme diference in me. Like I said above, my gyn. put me back on Yasmin 3 weeks ago to stop my bleeding and regulate my periods, and it never dawned on me that Yasmin is what started my chaos until now. And my bleeding has not stopped! I don't know what to do. It seems clear to me that my problems are stemming from this pill, but others have said on this site that the side effects continue well after the pill is stopped. What to do? Needless to say, I will be making an appt with my dr.

Hello,
I am soooooo happy to have found this post!!! I have been on Yasmin for approximately six months for very irregular or non-existent periods. About four months ago I began having dizzy spells where I could not walk or move my head without vommitting. I have now had one each month, this last one occuring for three days. I have also experience nausea, stomach aches, vommitting, etc... intermitent from the other symtoms. Long long story short I was referred to an ENT specialist and was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease (Inner Ear.) I didn't buy it so I began searching for side effects of Yasmin - I am stopping it today! I have my fingers crossed this is the problem>

I have been on Yaz for 9 days. About a year ago I was on Yasmin and didn't notice any significant changes. In the past year, I haven't been taking BC - but my bf and I decided to try this method of contraceptive. My periods were always fairly short (4 to 5 days) and spaced about 30 to 35 days apart. I also NEVER had cramps or any other symptoms during my period. Well, it's my 9th day on Yaz. My period still has not ended. I have never had my period for this long! Also, for the past 2 to 3 days, I have been experiencing INCREDIBLE cramps. I had to lie down last night I was in so much pain. I am also experiencing mild nausea and horrible dirrhea. I've also gone up a cup size and my breasts are very sore and sensitive. My appetite is horrendous - I feel ravenous! I haven't had the courage to step on a scale, but I am sure that weight gain has occured.
Has anyone else experienced longer periods??
I can't decide whether to stop taking Yaz or wait a month or two to see if the symptoms will clear.

hi guys,

finding your posts so helpful.
i've been on yasmin for nearly 5 years and its only just dawned on me recently that my:
-anxiety/mood swings/erratic behaviour
-body hair growth
-weight gain
-increase in discharge etcetc
could actually be from the pill!!

i was always so bubbly and strong but i seem to cry now at silly things and i just don't feel myself. i initially went on the pill when i was 17 because my periods were so bad but i'm not sure what to do now... change pill or come off pills altogether?!

i'd love some feedback if any of you have been in a similar position, thanks so much

I am 53 years old. Went on Yasmin for 3 mths continously to stop periods while travelling overseas for 6 weeks.
I travel overseas frequently - but had never taken Yasmin before. I am healthy, fit and a non smoker.
Breathlessness and ear problems started overseas after 5 weeks into the trip. On return it has been found I suffered a major DVT incident and now have blood clots in the lungs. Extremely lucky to have survived.
I believe that Yasmin has had a cause in what has happened.

I've been taking Yasmin since March of 2006... My periods have always been light and short in duration (3 days). In the past few months my periods have been 6-7 days with severe cramping... In addition, my hair started shedding excessively about 2 months ago and I've probably lost at least 1/3 to 1/2 of my scalp hair! My doctor tested me for thyroid problems, but determined that the hair loss was telogen effluvium (caused from stress). I have also been having issues with my stomach being upset and have lost nearly 15 lbs since I first started taking Yasmin. If anyone else has ever experienced hair loss from Yasmin, please let me know. I've read articles that have stated you can lose hair when stopping Yasmin, but I'm wondering if taking it could be causing my hair loss???

I have been using Yasmin for almost 10 years. Recently I have began getting migraines (never had them before), nasty vaginal discharge and an embarrassing increase in facial hair. I can somewhat deal with the migraines, but the other two symptoms are extremely irritating.
I have been to my gyno for both. She told me that the discharge was "normal" with the use of Yasmin. I don't think snotty goo coming from your vagina for a straight week before your period is "normal". She assured me that all testing came back negative and it was just something I would have to deal with. As far as the facial hair goes...I can't leave the house without standing in front of a mirror and plucking my poor chin and neck for up to an hour each day. My gyno suggested that I get laser treatment, which would be grand if SHE were paying for it.
I don't know if I want to continue taking Yasmin or not. I have ovarian cysts and used to have severe periods lasting for a week and a half at a time, and Yasmin had helped with those problems.
Has anyone else had these problems...and what are you doing for them?

I have been taking Yasmin for over a year and it has really helped me. It has reduced my mood swings, shortened my periods and I generally feel a lot better. However, recently my doctor gave me a sample pack of Yaz until I could get my Yasmin filled by mail. Yikes! I have had cramping, I'm tired and I had at least two episodes of severe night sweats. I also noticed a light sprinkling of acne on my chin and jawline. I don't get acne! I have very normal skin. I'm really glad to be going back to Yasmin and I hope to continue taking it for years to come.

I have been on Yasmin a little over 2 years now. I have been on other BCP, such as Tri-cycline, Alesse, Diane 35. Yasmin was great in the beginning, no major side affects, except for the breast tenderness. This past year, the breast tenderness has increased and I cannot even touch my breasts. They are larger and very sensitive. I am very moodie, very emotional. Every month now, for the past 4-5 months, I have been having yeast infections. I went to see my gyno and did tests and nothing is wrong. He has no idea why the yeast infection is reoccuring. I've done some research and read other postings and some other women have had the same issue. It's very frustrating and I cannot take having yeast infections every month. I take Yasmin to help with my cramps, and primarily the endometriosis. I have had surgery (5years ago) to remove endometriosis and my gyno mentioned to say on the BCP to decrease the spreading of endometriosis. Although, Yasmin has been a pretty good BCP, I just can't take the breast tenderness and most of all the yeast infections every month. I will be going off Yasmin next month.

I'm 32 years old with a 5 & a 6yr old. I was on Yasmin for 7mnths, four yrs ago. I lost down to 102 (I'm usually 115). It gave me constant stomach upset, everything I ate went right through me and the only week I wasn't bleeding was the week I should have been. I was put on Nuvaring, and have been on it for nearly four years. The first three went well, but then I began to spot in between periods and my migraines (which I had before either BC) have become out of control. I'm sick and dizzy all the time. After going to the OBGYN and discovering three ovarian cyst, I'm being put back on Yasmin. I can handle the stomach upset, but I am praying it helps the headache and irregular bleeding. Wish me luck.

I started taking Yaz in January or this year, I was on it for 2 months when I called my doctor and said that my appetite changed so much I had practically stopped eating. I couldn't finish a meal and sometimes I'd have the feeling of being really hungry, but then when I sat down to eat, I'd become so nauseated I was afraid I'd get sick right at the table. My doctor then switched me to Yasmin and it was a world of difference. My only side effects would be interrupted sleep (very minimal), periods of tiredness, leg cramps and strangest of all, an increase in sex drive. I can probably right off the side effects as being contributed to my mild case of sleep apnea, working 40+ hours a week and being young and in love. They aren't bothersome enough to stop taking the medication. As like all medicines, its not for everyone. I think the benefits I'm receiving far out weight the small amounts of side effects I do experience, my skin has cleared up, my periods are now regulated and not so severe and best of all.. I'm not pregnant. Hopefully the other women here will find a BCP that suits them and new hopefuls looking for answers wont be too afraid to try Yasmin. Its changed my life for the better... like all medicine, its trail and error, don't rule it out before you try it. Good luck.

I've been on Yasmin for nearly 5 months now and as of last month, all the major side effects started really kicking in: leg cramps, fatigue, moodiness, weight gain, irritability, depression, foggy thinking, breast enlargement, vaginal infections, etc. So my question is this: If a woman experiences side-effects with one pill, won't she experience them with any and all other pills? I would almost rather just go off of them altogether because I feel like even though the drugs vary from one to another, ultimately they have the same effect: to fill you with hormones to "trick" your body into thinking it's pregnant all the time (no ovulation) so that you won't get pregnant.

Any thoughts?

Should I take Yasmin??

I have had a yeast infection for four straight years! THe doctor put me on yasmin yesterday after being on ortho-tri-cyclen LO for 7 years!! Now I am worried with all these side effects. I am getting married in 2 months and I don't want to be on my period at my wedding because of the bloating and my dress not fitting. But I am worried about my periods getting messed up while being off the pill but I am also worried about having a stroke or all the others that everyone has mentioned! What do you think?????

It was nice to find this website, finally figuring out a reason why I get my yeast infections, headaches, naseau, pain on my left breast bone, fatigue, mood swings, etc... I always thought it was just me, but I'm now thinking that maybe it's not. I've had recurrent yeast infections ever since being on Yasmin (I've been on it for over 4 years) and my MD has never mentioned it could be the pill. I finally started seeing a connection between the two when I started tracking what happens to me when I miss taking the pill (ALWAYS a yeast infection). And it got me to thinking that maybe there are other women out there who suffer from the same thing. Also, at some points I actually thought I had serious mental/health problems b/c of my consistent headaches, fatigue, and mood swings. I used to be really active up until I was 19 when I started on Yasmin, and it went downhill from there. I guess I just thought that this was just my normal grown up self (I know sounds kinda lame). And I've totally experienced the lack of sex drive, it seems I'm only interested the week before I get my period or when I'm on it.

Girls Girls Girls! My experience with yaz was a near fatal one. I took yaz for 21/2 months and ended up in the hosp with a massive blod clot to my left leg and a small one in each lung. I'm 42, and basically healthy except for the killer periods. I also felt nauseaous the first month then things got better, lighter flow, less cramping and back pain. halfway into my third pack is when things got ugly. Sudden onset of shortness of breath with normal activity and a leg that was 2inches bigger in diameter. For you older girls I think the ob/gyn should take labs prior to starting yaz. check cholesterol, clotting time, and potassium and hormone levels then monthly for the first 3-6 months to see how your body is responding. Dont let moderate side effects go on >1month before calling Dr.

I posted a few reports on this site a few months ago and just thought to let you know how I feel after 10 months off Jasmin: well I feel great and back to my old self again.
Do not despair Ladies, if you want to go off Yasmin, please do it. Here is an account of what happened to me when I went off Yasmin:

1/ finished my last pill and waited for my periods.
First 2 months: periods came regularly/ SYMPTOMS OF VERTIGO AND GENERAL UNWELL FEELING WENT.

2/3rd and 4th months: horrible muscle pains with cramps, and very sore upper right arm: I went to see a physio who advised that I should carry on (even if I could hardly walk) walking once a day (10mns) and swimming for 20mns a week, and he also gave me a 'theraband' (elastic band) to exercise slowly my right arm. Although it gave me pain, I persisted and I did the swimming once a week and the walking once a day.
EAR CONGESTION : no improvement /
HEART MURMUR AND PALPITATIONS / no improvement

5th and 6th months: pains in my calves stopped but muscles were still weak, I carried on walking and swimming
EAR CONGESTION: SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT
HEART MURMUR AND PALPITATIONS/ NEARLY GONE

7th and 8th months: I started to gain more strenght and more stamina in my regular exercises.
EAR CONGESTION: NEARLY GONE
HEART MURMUR AND PALPITATION / GONE

9th and 10th months: BACK TO MY REAL STRENGHT AND I MANAGED TO CARRY A HEAVY RUCKSACK ON A WALKING HOLIDAY IN ANDALUCIA / Since I came back I've been really energetic! full of good humour and in an excellent mood.
I still do my regular exercises to keep my muscles in good shape.

So ladies, please do not despair, it will happen to you also!
And since I went off Yasmin, I have decided to leave my body alone and will never put it under drugs anymore.
Also, I have not seen one doctor since the end of June last year !! SO YASMIN IS THE CAUSE OF ALL YOUR TROUBLES AND PAINS.

BEST OF LUCK (DO NOT BE AFRAID OF SUFFERING AFTER YASMIN!)
Sylvia

Hi Ladies.. I am so happy to see so many postings on this pill. I have been on this pill over 2 1/2 years and didn't think anything was wrong with it until 6 months ago. I stopped getting my periods and at first I thought it was because I was working out 6 days a week but when the next month came around and I didn't get it again I thought it was strange. Now 6 months later I have only had my period once. I talked to my midwife about it and she said it was perfectly normal. I have been on the pill for about 12 years and I always got my period. I also have noticed that after 6 months of working out and eating right I am not losing any weight. The only time I lose a couple pounds is when I am suppose to be having my period and I am taking the sugar pill. I also have been experiencing headaches but chalked it up to my life of working, with two kids and maintaining family, house etc. Recently blood clots have come up with a few of my friends and it just makes me think that this pill has something to do with it. I am not ready to have another child, so I would really like to find another pill to try out. Any suggestions??

I think for most women in this world, you're going to like this side effect. I have seen a reasonable change in my breast size. I have been on Yasmin since Nov. 06 and I haven't had any problems with it at all. Also, I haven't experienced any weight gain at all. During my periods, I tend to have more water retention than I normally did before, but only during my period, and we're all bloated anyways at that time, you'll just notice you'll be using the bathroom more often. Overall, I love it, If you don't like water weight, I guess you can try something else, but I'd prefer water weight gain over regular weight gain which I had experienced from using other birth controls. Good luck!

I've been on Yasmin for about 4 or 5 years now. I've just recently notice a decrease in my periods (since about October '06). It would only last for about 3 days and was very light. The past couple of months, I have had NO period. I'm not pregnant (done the tests), and I'm extremely worried about what's going on. As much as a period is a burden at times, it makes me feel better when I actually have one. I have an appt. with my gyno at the end of June, and am supposed to start a new pack today, but am seriously considering getting off of it. Any advice? Should I be as worried as I am?

"Stuck Between a Rock and a Hard Place" 04/04/07
Thank you for all of your shares! Has anyone experienced Diarrhea as a result of taking Yasmin 28? I have been on it for 4/5 years. I started taking it because my GYN diagnosed me with endometriosis and my periods were heavy and sooo very painful. So, at first it was a relief; my periods didn't last as long, were not as heavy and the cramps were lessened. HOWEVER, ever since I have been on the Yasmin, I have been certainly very moody, and I have had moderate to severe tummy pains a lot of the time, and spontaneous bowel movements including diarrhea! I have tried every medication from anti-spasmadic meds to anti-anxiety meds to homeopathic remedies and probiotics. I was diagnosed with IBS many years ago but the symptoms grew soooo much worse ever since I started the Yasmin!! After being on Yasmin, it was as if my whole gastro system broke down; I have seeked help & testing from gastroenterologists since I developed ulcers due to h-pylori bacteria, diverticulosis of the intestines, gastritis (inflammation of the stomach lining)and I even developed a hiatal hernia and have to take prevacid daily ever since I started taking Yasmin! I eat healthy, I am 33 years old, I don't drink or do drugs and I don't smoke. I swear I am beginning to think all of this may have been caused by the Yasmin since none of it was occurring before I started taking the Yasmin 4.5 years ago!? I think I want to get off of it now, but I am afraid to take any other birth control due to suffering from more side effects. Although I do want to have children with my boyfriend when we get married in a few years, I am in fear of getting pregnant now if I get off the Yasmin. I don't even know if the rythym method truly works. Help?!

Hi, well I have been thinking about getting off Yasmin because I feel that I have become a really moody person. I have been on it for 4years and the only reason why I haven't changed my birth control is because I don't know how other B.C.'s are going to make me react. The only reaason I noticed was because my boyfriend and I were dating long before I got on Yasmin and I always felt great and after I got on it I started feeling very insecure, made about every little thing and just plane crazy. I had to stop thinking it for a month and I have to say that month was great! I had no mood swings and things just felt different and when I got back on it I am back to feeling mad all the time... I know I should get off it but I don't want to have irregular bleeding, longer periods, or possibly go thought the same thing I have with Yasmin. Yet I don't want it to rule my life anymore... Some advice would be helpful because I run out of my refills at the end of this month and I think I should decide now. I am also going to another gynecologist next week and plan on talking to her about my situation but it would be great to hear from people that have had the same problem.

I've been on Yasmin for 4 months. My moods were out of control...more than normal and so my boyfriend and I decided that it was best to stop taking them to see if it was the pills that were causing the problem, so I stopped taking them a week after I started my new pack of pills the first week of Feb. My moods were more under control almost instantly, but the strange thing is that
I got my period within a week but it was wasn't when it was supposed to come...it wasn't due for at least a couple more weeks. Since then I haven't had another period, yet I've had all the symptoms of one coming. Mind you, I've had protected sex one time since comng off yasmin and my first period thereafter, but that shouldn't affect anything. Has anyone else had a problem with messed up periods?

I was on it for maybe 5 years, then I stopped taking it mid-cycle in September because I had a mini-stroke!

I wondered if my current problems are related to a hormonal imbalance caused by stopping taking Yasmin?

I suffer from: insomnia, lightheadedness, a fluttery feeling in my chest, weakness in my hands, tingling feet on waking, anxiety and depression, abdominal pain worse during periods, constipation etc. etc.

What can I do to help myself? How long is this going to last? (I'm 38.)

Thanks

Anna

I've been on and off Yasmin for about a year now. The side effects I've experienced while on the drug are dry patches on my face and pimples on my jawline (which I've never had before!). For the past three months, I've also experienced inter-menstrual bleeding i.e. small amount of bleeding in between my periods. This can't be normal?!

Hi Flowerbabies,

Thank you for your advice, I will try the Mucron to see how I feel. Also I have read your post of yesterday and I am experiencing the same thing as you. I have been off Yasmin now for the last 6 months and although I feel a lot better, I still have my heart beating irregularly, exactly like you describe it:' my heart would slow right down, miss a couple of beats then start banging and jumping around then it would race'. This however tends to happen in the 10 days before my periods. I am 38 years old and maybe this is also due to a hormonal change... May I ask how old you are?

Hello all,
I have a question regarding menstruation. I have been off of oral contraceptives altogether since August. My first and second period came right on schedule. Now I am waiting around for my period. Even though it is only a few days late, I am terrified of pregnancy even though I use barrier methods and chart my temperature. Is it normal to have periods be a bit irregular, even if the first few after quitting were regular?

hi murph 70,
not sure if this site will help you work out your results,i looked my tsh level up on here.
www.pinelandpress.com/faq/hormonelevels
you could give it a look. i am also having problems with my cycle. i have started to ovulate again (thank goodness!) my periods are still coming between 33 - 38 days instead of my old pre yasmin cycle that was 28 days on the dot. i have some periods that are really heavy and some that are so light they are more like spotting. i suffer pms (with mild anxiety) about 12 days before my period starts until 2 days after bleeding starts. i get an outbreak of acne about 10 days before my period and savage backache just before my period too! all are symptoms of pms,i never had any of these symptoms before i went on yasmin except for the odd monthly spot on my chin! i really wish i had not messed with my perfectly normal cycle but i was totally ignorant to the fact that any of these awful things could happen just from taking a pill,i was told it would improve my life not wreck it!
sorry for the rant murph 70 but i find once i start on the subject i can't stop! hope the site i suggested is of some help.

silke.
my heart goes out to you...... remember you are strong and you will beat this! please feel better soon!

Hey Sophie and everyone!!

So nice to hear from you.... Well, I'm still or should I better say "again" doing very badly at the moment. My weakness seemed to get better around Sunday/Monday of last week and I already was so delighted about that fact and felt happy to slowly get better, when I was hit by another very heavy cold during the night of Monday to Tuesday.

I suddenly woke up in the middle of the night with fever and a sore throat.... I couldn't believe it. The second cold within 4 weeks!! I fear I didn't feed the first cold in starts October enough, I should have given my body the rest it surely would had needed... Well, I felt so bad that I couldn't even leave my bed for cooking lunch or so. I stayed in bed for about at least 3 days with again loosing very much sweat because of the fever and what should I say: This week the weakness has rosen up again and in a much much heavier way as it was 2 weeks ago when I posted here.... :-(

My muscles seem to have no energy left at all... Even lifting one of my arms feels impossible to manage... I nearly can't hold my head over the wash basin while brushing my teeth.

The other thing that has hit me on top around Thursday of last week is my period. It came up so regular that I nearly could set a clock at its arrival (well, perhaps the only thing which I'm still very proud of, my period is here after 1,5 years without Yasmin and it came up completely by itself)... And the bleeding was very very heavy again (after the last two periods had been very light and short and nearly not there...) and it's still not stopped completely until today...

So I think you can say that there are too many facts together at the moment, that are bringing my whole body in a mess.... And today I'm feeling very sad and despaired about all that, and not to forget: always afraid of getting where I was 2 years ago (ok, though I'm not really believing this, because I know that the Yasmin was the cause of all that and it's no longer there!)... It's so hard to believe, that I will be feeling better again in a few days or weeks, though everyone around me keeps telling me. OMG will this nightmare ever have an end??

I'm trying to take some Magnesium and such things to help my body with the loss of elecrolytes (which I guess has happened because of the cold). I hope it will help somehow....

Thank you so much Sophie, you caught me in a very weak moment with your post and it was so good to read your words!! Thank you (and all the other wonderful ladies here) for thinking about me and still helping me through this.....

Best wishes
Silke

PS: I'll let you know how things go on in the next few weeks......

I am seriously considering getting BACK on the Yasmin... I only got off of it because I forgot to refill my prescription. (I don't take it for birth control, I take it to level out my hormones.) The side effects I had while on it were headaches, sinus infections, 7 day periods: stuff like that. My issues started AFTER I got off of it.

I've been off of Yasmin since Sept 22. I went one month without any other BC, then started Loestrin 1/20 FE. I just started my second week of it and I AM MISERABLE... I'm eating out of control, I'm weepy, angry, irritable, my boobs have grown at least a full cup size (and they hurt like HELL) and I have funky discharge!!!! I was just fine until I started mucking around with these pills!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm at a loss - I sincerely do not know what to do. I don't have insurance until Dec so I don't have a whole lot of options... Do I stay on Loestrin? Do I go back on Yasmin? Do I stop taking them altogether?!? How do I get back to feeling OKAY?????

Sorry. No one ever responds to my posts anyway and I just needed to rant. I don't know what to do. I have Bipolar disorder so having my hormones out of whack doesn't help...
