my daughter is 16 takes Yasmin for severe periods and cramps, stomach pain, moodiness during her periods. She has just started complaining about headache that hurt really bad, not like migraine headaches, she already had a history of those and said that they feel different. I'm worried, has anyone experienced this?

I have been on Yasmin for approximately a year and a half. And I had nothing to complain about,... it did do it's job, up till recently. I always got severe headaches on one side of my head, and I just thought that was normal. Furthermore, I had noticed an increased heart rate for a while now... but having heart problems as a child, I thought that was normal. Then I had taken 2 pills at once the other day, thinking nothing of it, and an hour later my heart rate was approximately 148beats/min. That is completely abnormal! I have been reading some of these posts and other websites, and I've noticed some other people noticed this too. I was wondering if there was anyone else?

I started taking Yasmine in 2005 and almost imeemdiatley I started to have severe anxiety, depression, no sex drive at all and worse of all extremely bad migranes especially a few days before getting my period and during. My life had to be put on hold when I had my period because of the migranes. I stopped taking the Yasmine 3 weeks ago because I just couldn't take the migranes anymore. I have noticed I have gained some weight, my skin and hair feels alot oilier, and my hair has been falling out more than usual which is kind of freaking me out, don't have mood swings. My sex drive has gotten better which is a relief. I still don't know if my migranes will have gone away during my period. I'm just curious can anyone tell me if these side effects (hair loss, weight gain, oily skin) will go away after a few months.
When I went off another type of pill I actually lost weight, why is this one different?

I was prescribed Yasmin for PCOS in 2002. I took it and never had any problems and it made the PCOS easier to live with. This was until 2005. I started having real bad pain in my left side, so I went to the emergency room. They did x-rays and blood work on me. They admitted me to the hospital. They told me I had an infarct spleen. I was in there for almost a full week. My medical doctor told me he thought it was caused from my birth control (I did not take any other meds) and he took me off of it. Well I was having a lot of trouble with my PCOS so I went back to my gyno and told them about being in the hospital and what my medical doctor said. My gyno said they never heard of such a thing and put me back on Yasmin. They said I needed to be on it because it had an ingredient I needed to help me deal with the PCOS. So I went back on it after being off of it for 3 months. Well in May of 2007 I ended up in the ER once again. This time I was having severe headaches. I had never had headaches in my entire life until now. They ordered an MRI and gave me miagrane medication. I had the MRI done and they admitted me to the hospital once again. I saw at least 5 different doctors while I was in there. The MRI showed I had suffered 3 mild strokes (the cause of headache) and the only conclusion they could come to was the birth control again. I have never smoked in my entire life but yet I still suffered from strokes. I now have to take medication for my blood pressure, aspirin for blood clots, and migrane meds daily because of Yasmin. Yasmin is a very dangerous birth control. I also had to have an endometrial abaltion since I can't take any type of birth control. I am only 29 years old and can no longer have children because of this drug. It is very dangerous, I hope if I do nothing else someone will read this and stop taking Yasmin before it is to late for them also!!!

I started on Yasmin a year ago because I believed the TV advertising. I had no noticeable side effects for several months, then began heart palpitations, anxiety attacks in the middle of the night, crying for no reason, severe headaches, and my blood pressure, which has always been low, skyrocketed to as high as 160/130. I asked my gyn if Yasmin could be the cause and he said maybe, so I took myself off it. I had to go on blood pressure medication, but I'm hopeful that after that poison pill is out of my system I can get off the meds. The doctor's office called yesterday to say my cholesterol was so high they wanted me to go on medication for that. I last had cholesterol checked in Nov, and it was fine. I've been off yasmin for two weeks and already feel more hopeful and less anxious.

Howdy,

Mom from Wyoming who's daughter was a non-smoking, non-drinking 20 year old driving, full time college student and part time working young woman. She was diagnosed with polysistic ovary syndrome and she wanted to have "normal" cycles.

The OBGYN clinic gave her Yaz pack to take. After one month and a half, she developed severe headaches, began to throw up, abdominal pain, became covered in acne, anxiety at being alone, and her depression worsened. She could not sleep through the night and was fatigued for the next days activities.

On March 16th, she woke me screaming of a neck ache and demanding to go to the ER.

They did a CT scan and a MRI to confirm that they had discovered she had 2 blood clots one in each sinus area and one blood clot in the base of the brain drain. She was hospitalized for a week.

She has lost her quality of life and her independance. She will need to be on medications and blood thinners for the next 6 to 8 months (maybe the rest of her life) and NEVER use any form of birth control again.

She cannot drive, work or continue college due to the reactions of the blood clots and the pressure on the brain. Her short term memory was affected by the 2 blood clots in the sinus area. She is living in a survival mode and recalling things that happened when she was 13 years old as if they are happening today.

The doctors have informed us her sisters may be subject to the same effects if they take the same birth control.

We were lucky to have a radiologist that could read the CT scan and have us return to the ER and then a professional staff admit her to the hospital. I thank God I have my daughter and she is on the long road to recovery.

WOW! My husband and I are newly weds and have been having SO many problems. I have been depressed, emotionally out of whack (which I never was before), disconnected, NO SEX DRIVE (which for a newlywed husband is AWFUL). The other day I was contemplating finding another form of birth control and decided to research this from other users and ALL of your symptoms are the same- severe headaches (which I had before but after taking Yaz they got WORSE). I am going to try going off of it, it is NOT worth ruining my marriage over!

I have been on Yasmin for 2-3 years now for endometriosis. It was great as it helped with the severe cramping, and cleared up my skin. I never paid much to the series of changes to my body months to follow, till it got worse. Within the past 2-3 years, I've had countless exams literally from head to toe -- bloodwork, MRI, X-Rays, CT-Scans, Ultra-Sounds, and other lab work. All of which, despite slight irregulars through bloodwork on liver count, thyroid, lymph, and raised cholesterol, were normal. It got to a point where my family doctor thinks I need to see a psychologist. I considered my self a pretty healthy and happy individual. I know I was not imagining these aches and pains.
About 1 year into taking the pill, I noticed numbing in my legs, severe headaches, dizziness, and trouble falling asleep. I even discussed it to my gyno, who quickly brushed off any relation between these symptoms and the pill. I figured, it might have be induced from stress at work and thought no further of it. I also discussed it with my family, who also dismissed the idea.

I started losing a lot of hair and started getting more emotional, with frequent/extreme mood swings. I also started crying a lot, which was never the case before. I was never so emotional. The pill does not even help with clearing my acne anymore. I also had bloating, frequent urinating, tender/painful breasts, chronic cough, frequent throat infections, nausea, fatigue, back pain, heart palpitations, chest pain and pressure, and chronic abdominal pain. The chest pain and abdominal pain landed me in the ER today. And of course, all test results were "normal".

It's worth getting off this thing, at least to see if Yasmin is the cause. If this little pill is the case of all of our pain and suffering, instead of helping like it should -- the product should really be pulled of the market, along with a class action against the manufacturer.

I feel very lucky to have found this site, that there are others who are going through the same thing and can understand I am not insane for thinking the pill is the cause. I'll have to come back to post the progress.

yaz is horrible.
I recently had a baby 5 months ago, and my obgyn gave me yaz to start taking 2 weeks after she was born. so i did........
I thought I had serious post partum depression or something. I was getting severe headaches EVERYDAY, i was always nauseous, irritable, horrible mood swings (actually thought i was bipolar or something) i was also gaining a lot of weight even though ive been working out like crazy and eating healthy since the day i gave birth. right now i currently weigh only 6 pounds less than when i delivered.....thanks to yaz.
I was also having severe itching spells, chest pain, difficulty breathing for no reason, constant headaches, always sick to my stomach, sleep issues (i would either have to sleep for more than 12 hours to feel rested, or i would be almost on a euphoric *high* with only 2 hours of sleep and function better than ever) and numbness is my arms and legs.
I took this for about 4 months before i finally just realized not to long ago, that all my symptoms date back to around the time i started taking this.

DO NOT TAKE THIS

Doing an article on Yasmin, INFO WANTED on Side Effects that occur after you stop taking the pill

Hey okay so I'm doing an article on Yasmin, the side effects that occur when you stop taking the pill, and would like more information on it. I would like to interview ex users of the pills that have experienced either hair loss, lack of period, severe headaches, and just about anything that resulted. I need to write this article ASAP! All experiences are helpful. I too used to be on the pill, and ever since I stopped taking it my cycle has been out of whack. Please contact me either via email gator924@ufl.edu or through AIM: lipsfullbittin or via phone: 786-239-8751.

While most people know some of the side effects of taking the pill, few know the side effects that occur when you stop taking it. It would be a helpful article to any users or future users of the pill, don't you agree?

I've also had so many problems that I never realized until recently were related to Yasmin. I'm so angry at myself for not realizing sooner. I started taking Yasmin about 3 years ago because I was on Ortho Cyclen for a long time and stupidly thought maybe I'd try something new. Ortho was great, the only reason I switched is because I like to run my packs together and skip periods and I was starting to have breaththrough with the Ortho. BIG MISTAKE. I've had nothing but issues since, and I consider myself a stable, normally functioning woman. Since staring Yasmin 3 years ago, my libido has completely dried up. In fact I can barely let my sweet hubby touch me, let alone initiate it. We're starting to argue constantly because things irritate me that never did before. I've had mini anxiety and panic attack symptoms, blurry vision, foggy head feelings, and weird inner ear pain with occasional ringing I never had before. The worst part is, shortly after starting this terrible drug I developed IBS when I'd never had it before. Now I literally run for the potty after every meal. I cannot even lead a normal life anymore. I've struggled off and on with depressive type feelings, but for the most part have been able to muster through. Some days I am just so fricking tired though I can barely get out of bed. Oddly enough, I also get very hungover from even small amounts of alcohol....(also unusual for me)

More recently I have developed increasing chest tightness and palpitations. I am only 33 and have been checked out and they say nothing is wrong, except for my BP which always used to be very low, and has risen steadily over the last 3 years. I have also experienced significant bloating to the point most of my clothing no longer fits, despite the fact that I eat little given the IBS. My thyroid has been tested and is fine.

Finally, my hair has gone from great spirally curls that I loved to limp, weird half staright, half frizzy. I've never had this ever before. You literally could see this happen over the last few years as new hair grew in, it pushed the curls out and left this behind. I actually blamed my hairdressers and went from salon to salon before I put it all togehter!

I stopped Yasmin 2 days ago as I have had enough. I want to take something though so I started Seasonale, but this will be it. I'm giving it 6 months and if things aren't better I'm done with hormonal BC. I think with so many women who have had serious problems on this pill, you'd think they would listen. My GYN said no way it could be the Yasmin causing the IBS, but Yasmin does increase serotonin levels and the number one side effect of serotonin is diarrhea...so I think it is the cause!!

I am happy to have found this site. I have been on Yasmin I believe about 3 years. I am educated in the insurance industry, so I should have known better. I really thought I was going crazy. My mood swings have been horrible for a long time. I am snap at my family just saying everyday things. I sound angry even when I am not. I know I am doing this, but can not control it. I get terrible headaches, muscle stiffness, nausea, exhaustion, and I have gained weight. I also have issues with severe anxiety and wake up in a panic sweating at times. I got hot flashes out of the blue. I have come to the conclusion I need to be off of this pill immediately and I believe that I will start to feel better. I will keep you posted.

I've been on Yasmin for about a year now and over the last 6 months I noticed small brown patches forming on my face. I though they were age spots cause I'll be 30 in a few weeks. I always wear makeup and it has SPF in it so I know it's not from the sun. I just spent a week at the shore and though maybe when I get tan the spots will belnd in. To my suprise my face is destroyed. I look as if I had a very dark tan and now my face haswhere the spots are and nothing on the rest of my face. I am so upset cause I take really good care of my skin and Yasmin has stopped my face from breaking out completely. I do have 4 children that are 10 years, 8 years (twins) and 5 my mom though my hormones were messed up from having them so close at a young age. I also have experience severe headaches but they have been something I had before the Yasmin. I just don't know what to do or what to change to.

Where do I begin??? I have been taking Yaz for six months. Migraines! The worst migraines ever, I cannot function for one full day and sometimes more, the pain was so intolerable.

Hives! For the past two months, I keep thinking that I had a food allergy; even my doctor diagnosed it as that. After going to the allergist, I was told that I have developed an allergy to the Yasmin pill. No part of my body has been discriminated with this medication. Hives from the top of my head, in my eyes, right down to the bottom of my feet! This has been the worst experience of my life with this pill.

Fatigue to the extreme! I fall asleep sitting up and never feel rested. Yaz has caused me to go up two cup sizes so far, I went from being a 38C to a 40DD and I can't fit into anything. My boobs are sore a lot.

Weight gain, at least 20 pounds heavier. Nausea; Indigestion; Diarrhea & Constipation; Decreased Sex Drive; and Mood swings; Uncontrollable Rages; Severe body aches; Hot Flashes/Chills; Crying Spells; Blurred Vision; Lack of Concentration; Trouble sleeping; Dizziness; Shaking; Restlessness mainly after 9pm when I should be winding down to go to bed; Terrible night sweats; Never ending cravings for junk food; Inability to cope with stressful situations; Feeling of being inadequate; Can’t concentrate; Gassy; Hate family & partners; Irrational.

Hey ladies

I've never had any panic attacks or anxiety with Yasmin, in fact I believe mine has decreased... but that is the problem! I hardly feel any emotion, no desire for sex unless initiated by my bf, constantly lethargic and tired.. some chest pain at night, and insomnia/anxiety around ovulation

But my biggest side effect is SEVERE headaches. they are disabilitating, come without warning, and are so intense and severe that I can not make it through my daily day. If I take my pill at the EXACT same time everday, the headaches are minimal, however, if I take the pill a half hour or hour later than I am suppose to, the headaches will persist throughout the entire month... Did anyone else experience headaches like this?

Also, my actual period was not how it was suppose to be...very sticky and chunky it was scary.

In general, I believe Yasmin was just making me feel sick. I had really bad experineces with other birth control (ortho tri cylclen low made me puke every morning as well as get my period randomly) and I have decided to give my body a break. I am using Vivex (chaste tree berry) and St Johns Wort to keep my periods regular and avoid any of the depresssion that hear comes from quitting bcp. I only hope my body can regulate itself and return to normal!!!

I just returned from the ER. I am 9 months off Yasmin and am having SEVERE headaches, vision disturbances (feels like I am wearing someone else's glasses), and a feeling like I have a golf ball stuck in my throat. After an episode today of sinus problems, I took Benedryl, which is what ultimately landed me at the ER from dizziness, faintness, heart racing/pounding, and all around panic. My legs are also still slightly swollen and I have spots in my vision. The bad news (maybe could be taken as good news) everyone just said it was all in my head and offered me counciling. With no one else around to believe how horrible the Yasmin is, this website has offered great comfort and hope to me.

I am 20 years old and I have only been taking Yasmin for 2 weeks. The symptoms appeared around the third day. I have had nausea every day. I have also had severe headaches. I've noticed that I have been really snappy lately and very emotional. I almost started crying the other day out of the blue. This is the first time I have ever been on birth control. The nausea doesn't come on until after I take my pill each day around 2 pm. I thought it was because I wasn't eating at the exact time I was taking my pill. I find myself eating more often now because it is the only thing that helps with the nausea. It says that the side effects will go away after two months, but I don't know if I can handle too much more of this.

been on Yasmine for 3 months. 28 yrs old. been on other pills that made me suicidal, moody, etc, but this was the first pill that made me feel actually normal. this is the most expensive pill in Australia- $60 for 3 packs. had severe headaches & nearly fainted. speach problems. thought i had a stroke, but was just a severe headache. major decrease in sex drive. loss in appetite (yeah). numbness in legs (really sore) if sit at desk during day. did actually like that my periods were so much shorter & lighter, & not painful. i get the fainting & feeling dizzy thing too. BUT- am going off it now, due to the constant headaches, leg soreness. am going to miss the non- consequences of spontaineous sex.

I am amazed at what I have read here. It seems like all of the symptoms that have been plagueing me this year may be connected. I was put on Yasmin in April because my gyno said I MAY have PCOS. I didn't test positive but they said I should go ahead and go on Yasmin for it and it would help me shed the 13 pounds I had gained.
I since have gained 15 pounds on Yasmin. I have a very small appetite and I'm a vegetarian, so I know it has not been because of my diet. I started getting severe headaches behind my eyes that would travel to the back of my head on either the right or left side. I had tests and no one has been able to figure out the cause of my weight gain or headaches. I also have become so overwhelmed by anxiety and depression that I basically dropped out of my life. I even have been having recurring thoughts of suicide. Being fat now and having these headaches all of the time doesn't exactly help the depression either. I will not be taking my Yasmin tomorrow. I am not sure what to do about the gyno, but I plan to to something. My physician sent me to the gyno last week to tell her that she thought Yasmin was causing my weight gain. The gyno insisted that Yasmin could only cause me to LOSE weight. She actually convinced me.
Thanks to all of you who posted here and opened my eyes to what is really going on.

I have been on Yasim for about 1 month. I started it and began gaining weight and quit taking it. After I went back to the OB/GYN she told me that Yasim was one of the best pills on the market so I went back on it not knowing any better. I have been back on it for 1 month and have been experiencing Leg cramping, severe headaches, dizziness, weight gain. I am getting ready to transfer providers I feel that I am not being listened to regarding my systoms being on the pill. Please would someone respond to me?

Thanks

Has anyone else had this problem? I feel I should go to the doctor and have it checked out becasue my head hurts so bad. Any suggestions would be very helpful.

I am new to this site and thank God I found it. Now I don't feel like I am alone anymore. I have been taking Yasmin for 2 1/2 years now and dealing with this "new self". I stopped taking Yasmin 2 days ago (before I found this site) and last night I woke up to a pool of blood in my bed. I stopped taking Yasim in the middle of the pack because I was having severe headaches and had practically ruled out everything except my birth control. So, once I saw the blood, I was scared - but I assumed it was my 2nd period since I stopped in the middle of the pack. Did anyone have this happen to them when they stopped Yasmin???
My side effects have pretty much been the same as everyone else's - severe headaches, depression, not feeling like I am worth very much, I haven't been able to keep focused, very low sex drive, bitchy, bitchy, bitchy - and I could go on. It has been a terrible 2 1/2 years and I can't believe it has taken me this long to figure out what was wrong with me. I am dumbfounded... But I am finally seeing light at the end of the tunnel - as long as these symptoms go away.
Has there not been any lawsuits or action with Yasmin to make other women aware of what this can do to them? I am willing to make an effort if someone could lead me in the right direction. Yasmin is scary and has terrible side effects. No one should have to go through what we all have been through.
Please reply and I will keep you updated on my progress.

I started taking Yasmin Aug 14th and quit on Aug 19th due to severe headaches and frequent urination. Within two days of quitting I started cramping and had one of the worst periods in my life along with a severe tension headache where I thought the vein in my temple was going to explode. I am definitely never going to take any type of pill again.

I have thankfully been off this pill for two weeks or so and thank goodness have not had any more horrid leg cramps! Did you know runners should NOT take this drug?? No one told me!

But has anyone experienced (from going off Yasmin) SEVERE headaches and a thick vaginal discharge?

The headaches are driving me nuts and I probably will have to visit the doctor once again. This pill SUCKED!

I am a 35 y.o. mother of two. A year and a half after having my second child, I was diagnosed with PCOS (January of 2004) after telling my doctor that I was suffering from cystic acne, very irregular periods (if i got one at all), hair developing on my chin and upper lip, etc. My doctor ordered some blood tests and a sonogram and sure enough....cysts all over the place! Since I have had problems with hormone-induced birth control methods in the past, my GYN started me on Prometrium to help get my cycle regulated and to "ease" my body into taking the pill before starting me on Yasmin. I began taking Yasmin about 6 months later as my doc raved about this being an excellent treatment for women with my condition. HE COULD NOT HAVE BEEN MORE WRONG!!!! While Yasmin did away with my acne and regulated my periods, the side effects that I suffered far outweighed any positive affects it could have had and were far worse than any side effects I'd ever experienced on other forms of the pill. I suffered with depression, uncontrolled (not to mention untimely) bouts of anger/rage/crying, severe acid reflux, ZERO libido (much to both my and my husbands dismay), vaginal dryness, dry eyes and nasal membranes, severe night sweats, respiratory problems (I was drying out which was irritating my lungs and giving me false asthma symptoms and I've never had asthma), very dry skin, "phantom" abdominal cramping, unexplained memory loss, insomnia (aye yaye yaye! the sleepness nights), anxiety, severe headaches which increased in both frequency and intensity as time went on, frequent leg and back cramping, intermittent and unexplained bloating and water retention (isn't this supposed to be a diuretic?)....you name it, and I've pretty much experienced it over the past 6 months. I even went to see my regular doctor explaining my symptoms. He ordered a series of blood tests, potassium and calcium tests, liver enzymes, etc., etc., etc....everything came back NORMAL! I though I was going crazy! After on the first 3 months taking the pill I went back to see my GYN to tell him that something just wasn't quite right and that I think he should put me on something else. His response...."Give it time. Your hormones have to level out. This is one of the most successful pills out there for your problem...." blah, blah, blah, yada, yada, yada. I listened (like an idiot) and stayed on it hoping to "level out" at some point, which never happened. My turning point was in January of this year, when in an uncontrolled bout of rage, I exited my car at a red light to confront a male driver who had been honking the horn behind me (apparently I was supposed to drive through it) and then proceeded to call me a stupid b*&%h out of his car window, at which point I ran over to his car window and dared him to get out and say it again!! He promptly rolled up his window and sped through the red light. I got back into my car, drove home and sat in my driveway and cried for nearly a half hour out of sheer exasperated frustration. I threw away the remaining pills, called my GYN and told him he was a quack and could kiss my a$$ and have never looked back. I've only been off the pill since mid-January, but I've already seen a drastic difference in the symptoms that I mentioned earlier and some have gone away all together. I'm still having problems with the anxiety and the anger/crying bouts, but not as often and not as severe in intensity. Ladies trust your bodies....if you feel that something is wrong, it is! No one knows your body like you do so don't be afraid to tell your doctor that you want something different.....they work for you, not the other way around. As far as a class action suit goes, someone please let me know as soon as one gets started and I am so there!!! This pill is a danger to women and needs to be taken off the market all together. Please feel free to email with any information on upcoming litigation or if you have any questions.

Hi everyone - thank you so much for all your info regarding Yasmin. I had a bad experience 15 years ago on another BCP but now have been having trouble with recurrent ovarian cysts...so my OB suggested Yasmin. He claimed it was one of the ones that you don't bloat with, so I figured I'd give it a try. I had many of the symptoms everyone has complained of - severe headaches out of the blue at about week 3, wicked PMS and I never am affected, frequent palpitations, and the night before I decided to stop mid pack, I awoke out of a sound sleep with a gasp of air, as if I couldn't breath. That same week I also complained to my PCP about severe pain in my left calf and a feeling like it was dead and heavy. I am an RN and insisted they do a scan for DVT - it was negative thank goodness, but still all of this was a little worrisome. I made up my mind that I would never take this pill again. Only one month off the pill and my cyst symptoms are back. Oh well. Good luck to you all. I will be calling the number to report side effects and tell my OB.

Thank you to all of those who have posted to this website. After two years on Yasmin, I kept attributing heart fluttering (started six months ago), horrible mood swings (past three months), weight gain (noticed three months ago), and of course, horrible symptoms of PMS (three months), not to mention the anxiety attacks. Of course, like everyone else, I didn't put it all together until today.

I started looking back to see when all these "things" started happening, and realized I was not taking any other medication besides Yasmin. Heart - the doctor said the EKG didn't show anything, but recommended a stress test, though the sudden "smothering" feelings kept on, anxiety attacks began (nothing changed in my life to bring on any anxiety, and in fact, my life has never been better professionally or personally), severe headaches on the third week, and then a noticeable weight gain (at least to me, as I work out all the time and eat healthy and could not figure out what it was). Breast size increased some, not enough to go up a size, but enough to notice my bra fitting tighter and not because of any weight lifting.

I am about to call my doctor and tell his nurse and get off these pills. I am miserable and so moody and angry all the time, for no reason. I felt like I lost my old self the past few months. Sex drive is diminished since being on Yasmin.

Does anyone know how quickly the weight comes off after stopping these pills or hormones? I have always been thin and these pills have almost forced me to invest in a new wardrobe.

Thank goodness I am not going crazy.

I am 36 years old and have been on Yasmin for almost 2 years. My dr. switched me from ortho-cept because of terrible mood swings and said this was a much lower dose bc pill. When I first started, I thought it was the best thing since sliced bread!! Over the last year, however, I started with all types of aches and joint pain and major fatigue. Only being in my mid 30's, I felt as though I was in my 70's. Over the last year, I have been through tests for thyroid, lyme disease, etc. I have even been to a rheumotologist. Within the last 2-3 months, I have started with break through bleeding which I never had before. Also, I am getting severe headaches which seem to be more prominent when I am on the placebo pills. They subside after about the 3rd pill of a new pack. Some headaches have been at the migraine level with my vision also being affected. I have noticed severe dizzy spells, nausea and the cramps has returned with a bang. I have contacted my dr. and they have told me to stop when I finish the next pack and they will put me on another pill. I realize everyone's body is different and there are those that this may be the mriacle pill. But after this roller coaster ride, I think I am going to take a couple of months off and see if my body can or will recoupe and I may feel better.

I came on this site trying to find anything that might help me figure out what is wrong with my daughter and I am so glad that I did. she haa been on yasmin for about a 4 months now. She has developed all these strange symptoms and has an appt. with a rheumatologist this week because we dont know what else to do. She has been constantly tired and achy in her joints with severe headaches all the time. She sleeps all the time and is still tired and hurts all over. This didnt start until she had been on yasmin for a while>I have talked to the pharmacist and the doctors office 2 or 3 times trying to find out if this could possibly be from yasmin and they tell me no. But know after reading all this I want her to stop taking it and see if she feels better atleast.

I feel like a can take a huge sigh of relief right now!!! I went on Yasmin because I heard it made you lose weight. I was also told that it made your breasts grow at least a cup size. So I thought, "hey, lose weight and increase my breast size with a pill, why not?" I think I should have done a little research first. For the past month and a half, I have not only gained 10 pounds (10 POUNDS!), but have been extremely drepressed. This is the worst for me. I thought it was Yasmin, but kept ruling it. I mean, I was like Dr. Jeckyl and Mr. Hyde! I have never felt this bad in my life and I couldn't figure out what was wrong with me. As for the weight gain...I wasn't eating any different, as a matter of fact, I started eating less when I noticed the weight gain. I also experienced severe headaches behind my eyes, chest pains and the worst anxiety attacks. Oh, about the boobs...yeagh, they grew, but are so sore that I it hurts to put a bra on! I have been online doing research for 3 hours now and nothing has helped as much as hearing all your similiar experiences. Thanks!

I experienced a stroke after being on this pill for only three months. I have no doubt in my mind, nor do my doctors, that Yasmin was the cause of the stroke. I had experienced 15 lbs weight gain, fatigue, and headaches prior to the stroke. If you are over 35 or if you have ever had migraines, don't take this medication! And if you begin having severe headaches while on Yasmin, don't wait for them to go away or give yourself time to "adjust" to the medication. You are gambling with your health.

Please share any similar stories with me at geanos@hotmail.com. Put "Yasmin" in the subject line.

We'll I was going to the doctor today, but after reading all this information I'm just getting off this pill. My husband confronted me last night and said something had to change because of my change in mood and being ill ALL the time. I have zero sex drive and just got married less than a year ago. These postings answered it for me. I have experienced every single side effect listed: tender breast, left arm numb most of the day, severe leg cramps, luckily no weight gain, dizzy a lot and severe headaches. My husband said I changed right after I switched to this pill. He was right. Ladies, listen to your bodies.. Get off this nightmare. It's tough enough daily without some drug interfering.. Best wishes to all!

I have been on Yasmin for 1 1/2 months. I have had nausea every day, severe headaches, dizziness, fatigue and increased agitation. I don't sleep well and often wake up sweating. The first month, I had lower abdominal pain every day. My blood pressure has always been normal at 120/80 and now, the first time in my life, it has been running 150's/100's. I have not felt good since I started this pill. I have anxiety but Yasmin has made it much worse.

I was given the fantastic news that my body doesn't like itself anymore. I don't know when it had a falling out, but all I can say is the course of action to remedy this disease is CRAZY. Taking meds that have more side effects and the restrictions on my daily life, because of the meds, no driving, no salt, no sugar, and little fat in my diet, very little sun. Bathing in skin moisturizer, moodiness, mental confusion, can't work, but expected to continue cooking for family, and cleaning. Which I guess ...
