Help me! I have stopped taking Yasmin for about 4 or 5 months because my husband and I want to conceive. I AM STARTING TO LOSE MY HAIR! I am so worried about this as I am losing at least double the normal amount everyday and this has been happening for about a week now. I have noticed the difference as my hair is not very thick. My husband has noticed. My friend says she can't tell, but if you look in my bathroom and my comb you would think I was undertaking radiotherapy. I went to my doctor two days ago and she thinks it could be thyroid or iron problems. She thinks it could be ceasing the pill but is unsure......PLEASE, is there ANYONE who has experienced this? And if so will it stop? I am so distressed about it.

Hey everyone-
so this is my story and I would appreciate any comments. I am 21 and have been on Yasmin for a little over one year. I am SO happy I found this site!!!! First off, I had some anxiety issues before I took this pill and I dont think that it has had any affect on them. I do not have panic attacks anymore but I am in general an anxious person which never used to be. I am so angry and hard to please now and I was never like this! I snap at my boyfriend for everything and he has even told me I am a negative person and I have changed. I thought it was due to stress but I can just feel myself changing its awful.
Second, I notice I shed....ALOT. Hair sheds about 50-100 hairs a day but I just see my hair clumping in corners and all over my clothes. I cant tell if this is me being anxious but I grab my hair and I feel like it used to be thicker. I looked at pictures before the pill and it looked so beautiful and shiny now it is dull and flat.
I guess my majors issues are the hair and the awful mood swings and bitterness.
Question: Will this get better if I change pills?

Hi Ladies,
I'm on day 17 of my first pack of Yasmin. Thank God my doc gave me 3 months worth of samples because I don't think I want to buy this pill. Anyways, I've been having symptoms similar to most everyone else on here. I get a lot of cramping, back pain, feels like my hips are going out on me, not able to eat, constantly thirsty, extremely dry skin, etc, etc. I started taking my pills before bed. After spending a week and a half with these symptoms, I changed the time of day that I took the pills to the morning. Made me feel worse taking the pills in the morning rather than before bed. Went back to taking them before bed and I'm back to "normal". By "normal" I mean taking Yasmin. I called my OB's office and was advised that they do not want to take me off this pill until I've been on it for 3 months to see if it will help my condition. I have not had a normal cycle ever in my life, and I got pregnant while on the pill all 3 times. I had an ultrasound done last month, and was told that when I have my period, the lining of my uterus is not leaving. I was told that my lining is 17-18 cm in diameter when it should only be 4-15 cm in diameter. My doctor wants to see if this will help me shed the lining of my uterus and have a normal cycle. Needless to say, I have noticed a few "good" benefits from Yamsin, I can't eat as much, therefore I'm losing weight and the hair that I've lost from my last 2 pregnancies is starting to grow back. Ladies, if any of you are Yasmin for the same reasons as I am, let me know if this has helped or worsened your condition. I would be grateful for any advise you may have.
Thanks,
Georgette

Hi everyone,
I too had BP of 140/100 (or MORE) when I was on Yasmin. My face was extremely bloated - looked like I had 3 chins and a very round face. My hair fell out in clumps when I was on Yasmin - now my hair is fine and I don't "shed".
After quitting Yasmin, it took a few weeks, and the facial bloating was GONE! When the doc saw me she said "half your face is gone" :-) My family cannot believe that my face looks so different.
My BP now is 110/80 average. I do not take BP medicine and I do not take BCP any more.
My chest pains are for the most part GONE!!! They really had me scared.
I am on Paxil CR 12.5mg once per day for the extreme anxiety that I have which I attribute to taking Yasmin for about 9 months. I also have trouble staying asleep at night. I have observed that my anxiety is peaking when my pd is due.
I had an anxiety/panic attack on Dec. 21, 2005 and I took my last Yasmin in late January 2006.
Thank you all for your informational posts and concern. I had a few minutes so I thought I'd post an update.
PS- I think that the manufacturer better read this site and DO SOMETHING!!!!

I quit taking Yasmin at the beginning of October, and I'm scared of hair loss as a side effect...I don't know how common it is, but of course I'm getting all worked up about it due to my anxiety! I haven't noticed a difference in the number of hairs shed so far. If any of you have noticed significant hair loss after stopping Yasmin, how soon did it happen??

I am amazed at what I have read here. It seems like all of the symptoms that have been plagueing me this year may be connected. I was put on Yasmin in April because my gyno said I MAY have PCOS. I didn't test positive but they said I should go ahead and go on Yasmin for it and it would help me shed the 13 pounds I had gained.
I since have gained 15 pounds on Yasmin. I have a very small appetite and I'm a vegetarian, so I know it has not been because of my diet. I started getting severe headaches behind my eyes that would travel to the back of my head on either the right or left side. I had tests and no one has been able to figure out the cause of my weight gain or headaches. I also have become so overwhelmed by anxiety and depression that I basically dropped out of my life. I even have been having recurring thoughts of suicide. Being fat now and having these headaches all of the time doesn't exactly help the depression either. I will not be taking my Yasmin tomorrow. I am not sure what to do about the gyno, but I plan to to something. My physician sent me to the gyno last week to tell her that she thought Yasmin was causing my weight gain. The gyno insisted that Yasmin could only cause me to LOSE weight. She actually convinced me.
Thanks to all of you who posted here and opened my eyes to what is really going on.

This site is amazing but scary! I have been taking Yasmin for about 2 years now and am thinking about going off of it. These side effects scare me to death!! especially the weight gain. I have PCOS which made me gain all of this weight. Then i started taking yasmin to regulate my periods and hoping to shed some of the weight i gained. I havent lost weight and i cant seem to lose any weight. This is why i now dont want to get off the pill, the FEAR of gaining more weight. Weight gain has been the main focus of my life it seems because i am always thinking about it.
I never connected the symptoms i was having with this pill. I had the terrible nausea in the morning for about a month or two when i started to take it. Then i have noticed the hair lose and i am only 18 years old! And the leg cramps are bad. I get them during i sleep and i have to shoot out of bed and walk around to get rid of them and then i wake up and my leg is sore.
I am also very emotionally and cry often, i am even crying now thinking about all the symptoms i will experience getting off of this pill. I have 3 more yellow pills left then the week of my period. I want to stop but i dont know if i have the courage to. I dont want to gain weight now when i am already at the worst shape of my life. I just started college this year and that has been a big adjusment for me. This is the time i want to experience life and try to improve upon myself, not make myself worse.
Please, if anyone can give me some words of encouragement and help me get off of this pill it would be so wonderful.

Hi,
I've been reading this site for some time now but am finally deciding to post. I took Yasmin for about a year and half. At first everything seemed fine and then my mental state starting getting whacky - depression, memory loss, just not myself. I've been off for about 4 months now. I feel much better, although still feel anxious at times. The worst part for me is hair loss. I used to shed a normal amount but now so much hair comes out in the shower and during the day. My hair is thick so I've been lucky so far, but there is no sign of this letting up and I'm getting nervous. Anyone else have this post-Yasmin symptom? When did it stop??

Hi everyone
My daughter had been taking Yasmin for a year. She was put on it for medical reasons. During the last year her personality has gone from bad to worse. Being very irrational with mood swings and a "Dr Jek/ Mr Hyde" personality thing going. Just very hard to talk to any sense into at all. After suffering with her we took her to our family Dr who said she had mild depression and perscibed Zolft. We saw a quick improvement however after a few months on zoloft she took herself off when she gained 12 lbs in 3 months. However after reading this web sight it has become clear that maybe just maybe her problems are related to the Yasmin. After talking with our doctor we have decided to take her off Yasmin to see if we see any improvements. As we think back..yes, she has always been strong willed and some what "difficult" but there has been a definite decline in her personality behavior in the last year. Sooo my question is this..she has been off the Yasmin for almost 2 weeks now and we dont seem to see much of a differance ( maybe a tiny bit?). Cna nayone maybe shed soem light on how long this might take to "begin to return to normal" ( assuming it could be Yasmin). Any thoughts on this would be helpful. Thank you

I started taking Yasmine in 2005 and almost imeemdiatley I started to have severe anxiety, depression, no sex drive at all and worse of all extremely bad migranes especially a few days before getting my period and during. My life had to be put on hold when I had my period because of the migranes. I stopped taking the Yasmine 3 weeks ago because I just couldn't take the migranes anymore. I have noticed I have gained some weight, my skin and hair feels alot oilier, and my hair has been falling out more than usual which is kind of freaking me out, don't have mood swings. My sex drive has gotten better which is a relief. I still don't know if my migranes will have gone away during my period. I'm just curious can anyone tell me if these side effects (hair loss, weight gain, oily skin) will go away after a few months.
