hi everyone, i hope youre all ok
i made the decision to come off Yasmin last Sunday as it was making me so unwell, and so depressed
but i haven't really felt that much better; i still feel constantly nauseous and my period that started when i was on Yasmin seems to never be ending
i also feel extremely depressed and not myself at all
does anyone know how much longer it will last? im guessing its just the hormones trying to get back to normal?

I am 21 years old and I was on Yasmin for three in a half months (i stopped the last pack half way through). The first month i was on it, i had a lot of leg pains especially at night and sometimes to the point where i couldn't sleep. I went to the doctors and told her about this and she said it had nothing to do with the pill. My leg pain stopped after the first month i was on it and for two months i was fine. At the end of the third pack i began to get leg cramps again, but this time it was different i had little sharp pains here and there and tingling and my legs became extremely itchy. In the matter of two months i got spider veins and cellulite on my upper legs. Before the pill i had NOTHING on my legs. I searched the internet and found that birth control can cause spider veins because of the hormonal change so I thought my legs were itchy because of the spider veins so i stopped using the pill and made a doctors appointment. Three days after stopping i got my period for the second time that month. I also broke out with lumps that are red and extremely itchy. The doctor told me that the bumps are eczema and i also have a lymph node, which she said is from the eczema (which i find very strange). Two days after i broke out and got a lymph node, i got sick with a fever, extremely soar throat and a swollen neck. Today is my 7th day off the pill and im still sick. Hopefully i get better. But from being a 21 year old whos 95 pounds and having nothing wrong and starting this pill and getting spider veins, cellulite and then eczema all around the same time, i feel like im aging before my time. If anyone else has had any similar effects please let me know. Thank you.

After 5 weeks of taking Yaz, I have developed hives, "lobster red" skin and itchiness from my ankles to my knees. The itching is was so bad, I was using a metal hair brush to scratch (I know, not good). It turns out, I'm allergic to Yasmine. Hives is one of the first side effects.
I stopped taking Yaz about 3-4 days ago and the hives went away completely last night (my doctor told me yaz stays in your system 7-10 days).
The doctor also told me, if you do develop hives on this medication, you need emergency help. Hives can spread very very quickly and they can obstruct your airway.
I personally did not go to the emergency room (I didn't know any better), I was able to control them with Benadryl.
I am sad I can no longer take this pill. It was awesome. It took away my appetite, no moodiness, no pms, no weight gain.

Hi all! I just began taking YAZ two weeks ago and things were fine up until two days ago. I started experiencing itching on several parts of my boy an last night, realized I had hives on my waist at my back, near my underarms and have serious itching all over the rest of my body including the palms of my hands. Please, please, please if anyone reads this an has had similar side effects, please let me know. Furthermore, I did not take the pill last night as I knew this could be the only thing causing these issues. Does anyone know the reprecution of stopping the pill mid month? Please let me know and thanks for your help!

Hello Yasmin Sufferers out there, I have currently been taking Yasminfor four months exactly, I started my cycle today which means that I would start to take my new pack of pills come this Sunday, except I have most definately decided that I am going to stop. Especially after reading all of these posts and have come to the realization that all of my health problems seem to be Yasmin driven. I will now list the long list of symptoms that I have expierienced over the last four months:
Water retention, dry mouth, dehydration ( also note: drinking at least 8 glasses of water a day), blurred vision, shaking, headaches, backaches, crying at the drop of a dime, moody, irritable, constipation, nightsweats, coldsores, breast tenderness, as well as numbness in legs. I also have naturally thin hair, but have noticed that my hair has become thinner. I have also gained 10pds.
I am 24 years of age and have been taking this pill for four months. When I was younger I took Ortho Tricyclin for years and gained approx: 60pds. I went off of that pill and dropped the weight almost immediately along with changing my nutrition completely. So, it wasn't just the pill. I then stayed off of the pill for years, and was absolutely fine. Last year I tried to take Yasmin, I went on the pill for one month and withing the 1st week gained 8pds, I stopped taking it after one month, because I am so weight conscience because the pill had made me gain weight in the past.
I tend to have moderate adult acne. I went to my Dr. for an acne treatment, and he suggested the Birth Control Pill. He suggested Yasmin because of the water pill which is in it. This time my Dr. convinced me that I did not give the pill enough time last time and should give it three months minumum.
So, I have given it four months and the symptoms seem to be getting worse as well as the weight gain, and irritability.
I have also felt depressed and wondered if have been depressed which I have never had thoughts of in the past.
One thing that Yasmin has done well for me has been clearing up the acne, which was what I wanted to stop, but after enduring all of these other symptoms, I would rather have adult acne in trade for all of these.
Like I mentioned above I took my last pill last Saturday because that was the end of my pack and I do not plan on starting a new one this Sunday. I can only hope that I do not get any negative side effects when coming off of the pill.
I hope that this helps you ladies out there looking for info and highly recommend researching a birth control pill extensively before taking it.
Wishing you all the best of luck, thank you all for voicing your symptoms as I didn't even realize that these were all pointing to one problem.YASMIN.

I have been on Yasmin for 1 year now. I looks back to when I started and I had terrible insomnia to the point I had to take an additional sleeping tablet in the middle of the night when the first one had worn off. I feel nausea in the morning from time to time. My boobs have increased from a C to a D (sounds great but so has my bum and thighs). I don't have much energy and find it hard to lose weight.
My boobs are sore all the time now - not just around my period. I have awful anxiety attacks. I cant seem to cope as well and get teary and frustrated. I have numbness in my big toes. I'm going off it once my cycle is over. I was taking it for PCOS but I think I can manage the symptoms with exercise and diet.

hi everyone.
just a quick update. i have been off yasmin since june.this month my period came after 30 days which means that for the last 3 months i have had a regular cycle..woo hoo! i had virtually no mid cycle anxiety and virtually no anxiety before my period this month. although i still get quite nasty cycstic spots just before my period and my skin gets a bit greasy i am generally feeling much better. i am not gloating i am just letting you know that there is hope that life can be good again. today i went to visit my grandmother who lives a 1.5 hour car journey away then i took my 2 girls to the cinema.these are 2 things i would not have been able to do this time last year and i did them today with very little anxiety! hang in there ladies with a little bit of faith in yourself and your body you can have your life back.
just one annoying thing though, has any one else gained loads of weight after stopping yasmin? i gained all the weight back that i lost on yasmin with interest! i seem to gain weight really really easily now and carry weight differently to how i did before.it is now more on my belly and my thighs and bum!

Hi, Twogirlsmom, Lisa, Silke, Chrissy and everyone out there it's Hill.
I am on day 34 post Yasmin. If you read some of my earlier posts, I too got a cold, felt horrible and got some of my symptoms back during the cold. I also had/have the bloating/swelling. I should get my period very soon. If I was still on Yasmin I should have gotten my period last thursday, however, when I stopped my pills, even though I had just menstrated, I got my period again about 4 days after stopping for a few days so it should be here soon.
As for the swelling, yesterday my ankles were the size of my thighs, as well as my hands. My fingers were huge, none of my rings fit. And while I was on Yasmin, my face was rather enlarged, around my cheeks. Right now everything is bloated. I am assuming it is due to almost that time of the month and first real cycle off pills.
Driving to work I almost had an anxiety attack, but I some how controled it. So what I'm assuming is it's just because my little ole friend is due, and he doesn't know how to act with out that horrible drug or something.
So keep sharing your experiences I know they helped me so much,
Hill

Grateful to find this page! I'm having the strange experience of muscle cramping after 3 months on Yasmin. The first month I spotted every day (but assured this passes and it has the past two months) and nothing else. Towards the end of the second I had finger and toe cramps (you know, where they pull together). This month I'm having leg cramps as well - especially when I stretch, the calves, feet or thighs tighten up. Painful! I'm not sure what to do. Mentally I'm feeling stable - sleeping well, no anxiety - but I'm so glad I've read this is something which might occur after I quit taking them!

Hi,
I have been on Yasmin for about 2 1/2 weeks now.
Over the last couple of weeks I have noticed that I am really sensitive about things, that I am more depressed and sad and I had an anxiety attack yesterday. My heartbeat is faster and I have a high level of anxiousness.
I also notice that my legs are more cramped after sitting down at my desk for a couple of hours. At work I dont sit down all day, I get up and walk around all the time, but the back of my thighs feel cramped at the end of the day and I have lower back pain I havnt really noticed before.
I think I am going to stop taking this today. I cant remember the last time I felt this sad and depressed for absolutely no reason!!!

hi everyone,
Ive been of Yasmin for about 8 months now, i am surprised that no one mentioned on eof the side effects as Cellulite. I am tall and slim, and have a little cellulite on my bottom. When i was on Yasmin, i literally had cellulite from my bottom, all the way down the backs of my thighs to the back of my knees.
i also experienced the social phobia and low self esteem and definatly weight gain, but i stayed on it because it made my boobs bigger (and perkier!) m back to my diminished size and my boyfriend and i are sick of using condoms and was thinking about going back on the pill.. until i read this information!

Have been taking Yasmin 28 for exactly one week, as a 'day 1' starter. This morning it was VERY difficult to get out of bed, and I felt tired all day. I don't know yet if this is just a result of a hard schedule? I couldn't fibihs my exercise routine, either--just felt too weak. I have noticed my skin on my thighs for example seems to be more sensitive--scratch marks are bright red, though these fade momentarily. I felt a bit moody, which I thought was due to being tired. I am generally very keen to changes in my body, so I will keep track of all of any reactions I have to this pill. I don't take any other meds at all, don't take over-the-counter pain killers ever. I noticed an increase in sex drive and a general feeling of easiness, feeling more "feminine" , if you will??? That's all for now.

I have been on Yasmin for a little over six months. In the past 3, I have noticed weight gain even though there have been no changes in my routine. I'm bloated constantly. I'm starting to have little cellulite looking things on the back of my thighs (I'm 16! this isn't supposed to happen yet!!) and I've noticed some of the women talking of uncontrollable anger bouts. The entry girlsaturday posted on March 5th is exactly how I've been, as well as one women who said "I've turned from 'the nicest person he's even known' into a 'crazy B@#$'. And I know it! And I hate it! I sometimes feel like I don't have control of myself...I can't stop myself from saying something I know I shouldn't. " .... all of these things are exactly like me, and for months I was trying to find a solution. sure I may be a teenager whose hormones are running wild, but this was so unlike me! I have always been unstable in a depressed way but not angry... I've never really wanted to lay a violent hand on anyone or be mean to those I love as much as I seem to have been wanting to, especially since around november or december. I had absolutely no source for this anger, there was no where it could have been coming from, and it frustrated me to no end that I couldn't figure out why. Once it came up in my mind "hey maybe it's the pill" but i didn't want to believe it. I thought, no, it's just me being a moody teenager. but after reading all of these, i honestly don't think that's what it is. I don't feel like myself anymore and the timing points to the pill. I'm on the white pills right now, so I'm about to finish a pack, but I'm not getting it refilled. Back to acne and condoms for me... it seems worth it at this point.

After reading other posts, I realized what other side effects I have. I noticed that I do have to burp(yuck) while I'm eating and it's like it won't come out. I also notice that my thighs feel like I have bruises on them, but I don't. I also got four pimples in the same spot, I was hoping Yasmin would help my skin, but I'll keep giving it a try.

I have just started my fourth pack of Yasmin and hadn't really experienced any serious side effects. However, whilst finishing my second pack i suddenly got a bumpy, itchy rash across my face and swollen eyes which i just thought was an allergic reaction to make up i was using. But these symptoms have continued up until now, sometimes getting slightly better but then worse again. I have stopped using anything which could be irritating my skin but i can only think it must be the Yasmin. I normally have oily skin but now it is so dry and itchy, i have eczema around my eyes and they are very red. My entire body is itchy really but the rash has not spread. I am going to stop the pill now and see if my skin improves because i cant put up with the pain anymore.
