Should I take Yasmin??
I have had a yeast infection for four straight years! THe doctor put me on yasmin yesterday after being on ortho-tri-cyclen LO for 7 years!! Now I am worried with all these side effects. I am getting married in 2 months and I don't want to be on my period at my wedding because of the bloating and my dress not fitting. But I am worried about my periods getting messed up while being off the pill but I am also worried about having a stroke or all the others that everyone has mentioned! What do you think?????

hi kim123,
i think it is a combination of things that are making you feel anxious. the heart palpitations and racing are quite common,i used to get them quite often,in fact i still do around my period. it was always worse at night for me and would prevent me from sleeping. your hormones levels may be fine but chances are that you are very sensitive to the effects of the synthetic hormones which are stronger than your own. also due to the diuretic effects of yasmin you may be lacking in vital vitamins and minerals and electrolytes, the extreme stress that you are suffering at the moment is probably making your anxiety levels worse, make sure you drink loads of water and eat simple but healthy foods, stay away from tea and coffee and also things with lots of fat and sugar.especially high carb refined food as the sugar can make you feel more shaky and anxious. please please try to think positive thoughts,i know it sounds silly with the way you are feeling right now but with practice your brain will accept the positive not the negative. when your heart races instead of panicking just tell yourself that it is fine and it will pass, you are not going to have a heart attack. keep busy . if you are unable to sleep during the night don't lay there fretting and getting more anxious, get up and do something, anything but try to do something that you enjoy. you could try home hypnosis tapes to help you calm down a little. i'm so sorry that there is nothing i can tell you to do that will make you feel better instantly, but all the little tips will help i promise, unfortunately the only thing that will make all this go away is time.as you were not on it for long i hope you will start to feel better very soon. this may sound like an odd question but have you had a "normal period" ie not a withdrawl bleed when you stopped taking yasmin? it may be that you are feeling worse because of impending menstruation or ovulation? a lot of use feel bad for a while at this time of the month? just a thought?

Hello ladies,
I have not written in awhile but check this site every single day to receive strength and encouragement. My nightmare started in July when I began to experience panic attacks, depression and a host of other symptoms that frightened me.
I am grateful to this day that I found this site, because I am not sure how I could have gotten this far without it. Although my husband, family and friends are extremely supportive, I have always relied so heavily on all of you, your stories and your encouragement. Women oftentimes get a bad rap for being catty and bad to eachother. I think this site shows how compassionate and caring women are. To see you all lift eachother up lifts me up, and I am amazed that even when we cannot find the strength to encourage ourselves, we are able to write a post that shows our care and encouragement for others that are experiencing this nightmare.
Thank you to flowerbabies, silke, chris35, sophie, murphy 70 and everyone else for helping me through this because of your posts. I think of you all each day and hope that you are all doing okay. I am sorry for all the mushy stuff, but I just had to show you my thanks for your honesty, compassion and encouragement!
As for my personal experience trying to heal from Yasmin, I am getting through this. I feel pretty normal most days, but sometimes around my period I feel the anxiety again. It is not nearly as intense or scary as it used to be, but my fear is always that I am going to be that bad again, somehow, even though I do not think that is possible. The anxiety itself is not that bad for me anymore, but I guess my fear of what it has the potential to be, because of what it was a few months ago, creates deeper anxiety. I just try to do what flowerbabies says and think positive thoughts. I also want to echo what I heard so many women say and what I wanted to believe so badly...IT DOES GET BETTER. There were some days when I wondered if it would, but like I said, I am almost completely back to normal. I am proof, ladies! You can get through this. Your bodies are strong and amazing, and think of what they can do!
Take care, everyone. I am always thinking of you.

hi abs528, i'm sorry to hear that you have not had much improvement, snap on the sore throat by the way! i had trouble sleeping for quite a while when i was on yasmin last year,i had really scary thoughts and felt terrified most of the time. the best technique i have found to help this is distraction like singing or housework or whatever but just take your mind off it and keep reminding yourself that your fears are not real and that you are in no danger, your loss of appetite is probably down to the anxiety,i lost my appetite and ended up losing 2.5 stones (35lbs) but i have gained 18 lb back now! it may also help to think positive thoughts,i know it sounds corny but if you keep doing it the brain can only focus on one thing and hopefully it will be the good stuff! don't lose faith in yourself...you know this is not you it is this devil of a pill! keep your chin up it will get better and you will feel great again.

Hello there. I quit taking this Yasmin stuff for good as of Thursday. So it has been 4 days. I still have the heart palpatations, blured vision, anxiety, muscle fatigue, shortness of breath, just to name a few. I am trying to think positive about this whole thing. You know? What else can we do? I have decided to do a major detox to try to get this out of my system. After 2 years it is going to take something major. I did start my period yesterday so, that is good. I guess. I have pretty bad cramps and clots. (Gross I know.) I can only hope to be normal soon. Or at least back to where I was before Yasmin.
Good Luck to all.

So I'll refer to today as Hell Day, the day when all the horrible symptoms of my birth control pill attack me at once and I literally cannot take it. I had this exact same thing happen when I was on the nuvaring, and I stopped it immediately. I'm willing to sacrifice having 100% safe sex if it means I don't have to feel like I'd rather shove a knife through my brain than exist. It's only my second month of Yasmin, and I'm feeling more fatigued than ever before in my life. I feel so horribly depressed. It's beautiful outside and I was lying on the grass, thinking only about being DEAD. I'm not one to be depressed. The only other time I've felt this awful was my third month into the Nuvaring. I specifically asked my doctor for something that wouldn't make me depressed, nor gain weight. Well, I gained about 5 pounds that won't come off no matter how hard I try, and the depression is just getting worse and worse. I'm stopping this pill tomorrow.
Other symptoms included:
-- By drumsareforgirls | Reply | (4) replies | Private Message me*Initially: a sharp breathing pain under my left lung
*Weird, small rash on my leg
*Would rather be in bed than do anything
*Overwhelming feeling of loneliness, questioning self-worth, etc.
