I change to Yasmin three weeks ago, but I totally regreted. I have lost my appetite I just want to be drinking water. I feel dizzy sometimes because I haven't eat properly.I spend more time on the toilet at night that on my bed. Everytime I urinate I feel cramps on my uterus. My nipples and breast are always sensitive and painful. I feel that I am going to give birth (bloating) pain in my uterus, cramps and pain on my back. When I have sex I feel that my husband has spines on his penis it hurts and burns so bad. besides that my sex mood is going to hell. Do not mentioned my mood swings I can not stand no one. Sometimes I feel not talking to no one I even quit my telemarketing job. I feel sleepy, tired and always yawing anywhere anytime. One day I slept until 3 pm, my husband thought I was sick since I didn't want to get up from bed. When I have the chance to eat immediately has to come out, my bowl moments are like I been taking metamucil in every meal. Honestly Yasmin is WORST than Otrho-Low. I belived that there is no contraceptive good for our body.

Has anyone out there had an increase in urination? I started Yaz in Feb. and since then I've been peeing like a race horse. My OBY said it was probably an overactive bladder, typical for a peri-menopausal woman. I had tests for bladder infections and they read negative. I was in the middle of relocating my family across many miles and I just put up with the symptoms. Now I find out there is microscopic blood in my urine and I am scheduled for a slew of tests probing for tumors, cancers, polyps, etc. in my bladder and kidneys. My Dad had bladder cancer so I'm pretty scared. However, I am starting to wonder if there is a Yaz connection. I hate the thought of returning to periods where I couldn't leave the house because I was bleeding so much but all the risks here are scaring me. I don't have an OBY here yet but assuming I am not harboring cancer or an other disease (i.e., kidney stones) I think I'll go off Yaz. I already have horrible migraines and acne so I'm wondering if it will all get worse. My headaches are the same (2-3 times a month) with Yaz and my skin is better. It's been pretty good for water weight but as I said, I am in the bathroom way too much.

Hi, I started taking Yaz in November 06. The first few months were fine. Then, I started having to urinate ALL the time. I also developed very bad pain in my right lower abdomen. In addition, I lost my appetite and became increasingly depressed and anxious. I went to the hospital three times for the pain. After 2 CT scans, an x-ray, any many urine and blood tests, everything came back normal, but my symptoms remained. The thing the doctors found was multiple, small bilateral cysts on my ovaries, which they told me is perfectly normal. Is it?

Last week, my period came a week and half early which is VERY unusual for me. After looking up information about YAZ, I realized that my symptoms were likely caused by this pill. Anyways, I stopped taking it three days ago. How long do you think it will take for my symptoms to go away?

Hi Guest 39434

My doctor thought I was having kidney problems because she believed I was having trouble with my magnesium levels, but it turns out my magnesium levels are fine and my kidneys are great.
No urinary or bladder "problems", but I did have an increased need to urinate when on Yasmin. Now that I'm off it has gone away.

Hi Kim 123-

I am after being off of Yasmin for 5.5 months, and any hormone for 2 months, feeling LOADS better. Alot of the foggy head is gone as is the incredible fatigue, contstant urination, the pain in my eardrums, and the arryhthmia, palps and chest pain. I also got very sick for 5 months every month coming off-and that's gone too now. So give yourself some time.

I took Yasmin for the last 2.5 years. Over time, I came to recognize major side effects that I am still very concerned about to include: Popping of eardrums. Exhaustion. Sensation of paralysis following taking it and lying down. Constant running to the bathroom to urinate (due to droperinone which acts as a diuretic), developed heart murmur and pain across my chest (squeezing sensations). Major change in vision in the right eye within 6 months. Painful pressure in both ears due to this pills increase of potassium in your body. Ears would pop for two hours after I took the pill.

I have been off of Yasmin for 2 months, initially went onto its sister/cousin Yaz and felt just as terrible so I went off of that as well.

A Hearing Aide doctor actually told me that oral contraceptives have been known for a long time to be "odo-toxic". Which means-toxic to the inner ear. How come prescribing Gynecologists, Doctors and pharmacists don't know this?

The synthethic hormone in YASMIN AND YAZ -dirosperone increases potassium levels in the body. Inner ear is composed of a potassium and sodium fluid. An inbalance in this fluid would likely cause pressure in the ear. I had to learn the majority of this information from people other than the prescribing doctor, an RN or the pharmacist.

My doctor switched me to Yasmin one month ago because I had ceased to get periods on Levlan. Levlan worked great for me for two years; I had no side effects. However, just one week into Yasmin I noticed striking changes. My sex drive tanked.. I now find it incredibly difficult to orgasm. I also started getting bad headaches and I've never had trouble with headaches in the past. I have to urinate ridiculously frequently. I am stopping Yasmin today after only one month. It's a miserable pill. I am angry that my doctor didn't warn me about this drug! I hope that things go back to normal for me quickly. I would recommend women avoid Yasmin.

I started Yasmin in January of this year and after finding this site and putting two and two together stopped taking Yasmin on the first of January. I know that when I stopped taking it, I so wanted to see a timeline from someone who had stopped as well. So here is mine hopefully it helps those that have had to struggle with this BCP.

When I was taking Yasmin at first I thought it was great and then month two rolled around and things changed. I had leg cramps, nausea, vomitting, I was dehydrated but constipated, I had to urinate every 15 min, and I cant tell you how many times I went to the doctor in those 5 months, whether it was because i was so severely dehydrated and needed and IV, to having serious panic attacks, anxety attacks, nausea, and so on. The last visit was to the Emergengy room when I had a mild stroke. I'm 23. I stopped taking the pill 2 days later. The first month was ok, i was no longer constipated, or urinating every 10 minutes. The vomitting stopped and the nausea stopped for the most part. The only thing that I wanted to end the most is the one thing that stayed with me. The anxiety. I wake up with it every morning. I am going on 4 months of being off the pill. I have heard that it takes the body 6 months to completely detox.

I am now seeing a therapist for the anxiety, one that will not just send me out the door with a prescription for some miricle pill. Through hypnotherapy i have learned breathing exercises that calm me down and put me in a deep relaxed state, and let me tell you it works wonders for the anxiety.
It is really easy, just lay down down somewhere where there are no distractions, like your bedroom. Close your eyes, breathe in for the count of 4 hold for the count of 4, breath out for the count of 4, hold for the count of 4 and repeat. It makes you focus on the counting of your breath and really works, i was amazed.

The water retention, vomitting, leg cramps, dehydration, irritability, all have gone away in the three months that I have been off this pill and my sex drive has returned. I will give an update when the anxiety leaves as well.

Hi girls, first of all thank you all for your postings, which have really helped me a lot. I was on Jasmine (as we call Yasmin in France, where I am writing from) for 7 months and I have felt the same depression and lethargy you are all talking about. My worst problem was constant hunger and obsession with food. My family didn't recognise me as I was constantly bloated, I looked like I had a tyre around my belly, plus I needed to urinate every 15 minutes or so, but was also very constipated... Great! I would also wake up every two hours at night; I have never been a good sleeper but it had come to a point where my nights were at maximum four hours sleep. I stopped taking the pill 2 weeks ago and my belly is much flatter now, I still feel pessimistic about life can contol my feelings much more. Feeling a little more in control of my body really helps. Bonne chance to you all!

Im not sure if Yasmin is definitly the cause of my problems but after reading all of these postings I no longer feel alone about my symptoms and definitly think that this could be it!

At first I thought I was going nuts...I have been taking yasmin for about 2 1/2-3 years now and this past year has been a complete nightmare. Within a month and a half I had 2 urinary tract infections, I have terrible night sweats and wake up to urinate more then 7 times a night. My mood is so up and down Im like an emotional roller coaster, usually it is alot worse during my period but lately it is all the time! Most of my issues seem related to hormones. I was starting to think maybe it could be I.C. I am jsut so unsure! I have a doctors appointment this coming Wednesday and I refuse to let them just brush this off. It is now to the point I cannot sleep at night and my bladder is out of hand ! I am 26 years old so I know it is not Menapause...

Does anyone else share my symptoms?? HELPPPPP!!!!!

Julia

I've been on Yasmin for a month and a half. Everyone else seems to have horrible side effects, but I think since I NEVER get sick, mine haven't been so bad. The only thing is that I have to urinate at least 3 times each night and I have had a few headaches. Other than that, my period only 3 days long and very light. I didn't get any cramps. And this pill makes me a lot less moddy than Orthotricyclen.

my vision is worse, but i am not sure if this last one is related to the pill or not

I have been taking Yasmin for 7 months now. Although not as bad as it was at the beginning, I still get nausea and vomitting. I have gained a few pounds. It has regulated my period but that seems to be the only benefit. I am still having abdominal cramps as well as leg cramps, my breasts are extremely tender, and ever since I started taking this drug I've had to urinate more frequently. This is not the pill for me, but I hope it works for other people.
