I went on Yaz a year ago because i was having night sweats around my period while taking Mircette. Well, the sweats have mostly subsided, but I have had about 35 migraines this year compared to my usual 6 or so. It only recently dawned on me that the only thing to change in my life over the past year was my prescription to Yaz...And the migraines, they would last for days, especially in the days just before and after my period. It has been so unmanageable, even with my prescription migraine medicine.
Additionally, I have been moody, had trouble sleeping, and have had bouts of weird dizzy/lightheadedness. not to mention ZERO sex drive at all.
I visit my Gyno in 2 days and can't wait to get off of this pill. I guess it is a great thing for some people, but it has been a burden for me this past year.

I wanted to update people since my last post. I have taken YAZ for a month now, and at first I had some killer side effects. I hate the bouts of depression, extreme anger, cramping, breakthrough bleeding, etc. Now, all my side effects have gone away, and I'm the same old mean. I suggest those of you having problems SEEK medical advice from your doctor. Don't rely on the internet (this is what causes us, myself included, to panic) everyone is different. Everyone reacts differently, especially if you are starting on a hormone. Go with what your gut tells you, not what the internet tells you. If you feel that you shouldn't take it, stop immediately, but I suggest you give it a little try and a little longer to see if your symptoms go away. If they do not, then YAZ is not the right choice for you. :) Good luck ladies

Yaz puts me into bouts of severe depression and anger, and even paranoia. It's so bad that I don't even realize it's happening until the bout is over. It causes problems in relationships. I suggest that if you don't react well to hormonal birth controls, don't use Yaz. For me, it worsened any kind of mood swings I might naturally have, and at all times of the month.

I know birth control pills affect everyone differently, this is what happened to me. I started taking Yaz in January after being on Yasmin for 6 years (I had severe abdominal pain on Ortho Tricyclin and Yasmin gave me immediate relief. I had PMDD the last 6 months I took Yasmin and asked to switch to Yaz after seeing commercials on it, other than that I had no problems being on Yasmin for 5 1/2 years). The second month of Yaz, my PMDD went away, I felt normal and loved being on Yaz. I haven't had any weight gain, have mild cramping about a week before my period starts and my period is about 4-5 days and I hardly get bloated but I get a severe headache the day my period starts. The last 3-4 months, I've noticed I've had no energy but still try to exercise, I feel so tired no matter how much sleep I get, at times I don't feel very alert and have to focus hard when driving, have bouts with feeling depressed, and occasional constipation. I didn't have any vaginal dryness but often felt like I didn't have the energy to have sex. I had a blood screening last month which came back normal, this month I noticed my hair seems thinner. I suspected Yaz was the problem then I knew for sure after I found this website. My OB/GYN called in a new prescription for Yasmin today, I'm hoping that will help again - at least until I see him in a couple months, and that the PMDD symptoms do not return.

Thank goodness for the internet. I didn't notice any mood changes my first month on Yaz, but around my second month I started work on my MBA. I thought my short temper, bouts of rage, impatience, and general freaking out had to do with stress and sleep deprivation! However, now my hard class is over, I'm getting enough sleep, and I am STILL feeling like a complete psycho. Yesterday I started screaming after I took a wrong turn in traffic, and my incidence of saying "I want to shoot myself" and swearing have gone up 200% since taking this drug. I have never been a violent or aggressive person, but looking back I have been snappy, rude, and generally a bitch! It FINALLY occurred to me that it could be the pill causing the mood swings. . . and all the comments I am seeing on the internet are just confirming my suspicion. I finished my pack a couple days ago and will NOT be renewing my prescription. I'm getting in to my doctor ASAP.

I just quit Yaz 8 days ago, was on it for 6 months. I had the copper t iud in for 4 months but the pain and non-stop bleeding was too much so I thought I'd give the coolest, newest pill out on the market a try. First week was awful; headaches, fatigue and nausea, but I knew I had to give it 3 months. First 2 months it really helped with cramps and bloating, but slowly the mood swings crept in. I was very emotional, depressed, random bouts of anger, bloating, cramping, 2 periods per month and spotting, gained 8lbs, uncontrollable hunger, appetite was ridicules. But the reason I felt I HAD to stop taking it was the fatigue, I could no longer do my 6 mile jogs, I struggled to walk to get the mail, I was for the first time in my life a couch potato. Before I began Yaz I was 115lbs, 5'7, have always been very active and eat only 100% organic health food, drink only green tea and water. Needless to say I was in shape, cellulite free my entire life till now. On the 5 month of Yaz I noticed cellulite on my legs!!! I was know as a sweet and very patient lovable girl, NOT ANYMORE! I used to never use bad words, now I use the F-word all day long, I pick fights with everyone and feel sooo angry all the time. I hope sharing my story helps other women understand that it's not them, it's this awful drug. I am going to use the LadyComp for bc, I will NEVER again put synthetic hormones in my body.

After having a semi-break down yesterday which included 3 separate occasions of rage, suicidal thoughts, and crying jags, I have decided that one of my medications is at fault. I thought at first that it was the Klonopin that I started taking April 1st. This confused me because, after initially taking the Klonopin, I had a follow up with doc after two weeks and it was working great. I then got on Yaz around April 20th. In the last month, I have had increasing mood swings, horrible depression, complete exhaustion, inability to focus on anything, stomach aches, heart palpitations, soar throat, coughing, and my back has been killing me. The worst is the depression and bouts of rage. I was all set to blame it on the Klonopin until I read this site. Well, I'm going to axe the Yaz first and see if things improve. It makes sense though, I been feeling like I did in the worst time of pregnancy.

I have been on Yaz for about 3 weeks now. About 2 days into it, I started spotting lightly, which progressively got worse. For the past week it's been as heavy as a normal period. I've had headaches every day, and I've been nausious since day one, and had diarhhea just about every time I eat. I have had bouts with anxiety and depression and just feeling overwhelmed, and exhausted! I am calling to make an appointment next week to switch to something else. This is awful.

Thank you all for writing about your experiences with Yaz. I have been taking Yaz for a little over 2 months, and have been experiencing depressive symptoms and a loss of libido. I am normally an upbeat person, but have recently been prone to bouts of crying and feelings of severe depression. Until I began reading other women's posts, I did not associate these phenomena with Yaz.
