i am 28 years old and started the YAZ pill and have only been on it for 5 days and it is horrible stuff it causes me to be weak and feel like my body has a ton of bricks on it i have a hard time breathing i also have sever back pain and the day after i started it i started to bleed very heavily . I seen to be extremely moody and am am sad and angry just like that . Before i was on it i had very light periods some discomfort for one day and then it was gone but none of the other systems . My arms hurt and i feel confused as we speak and out of breathe and i am still bleeding . I also have nightmares and fill sick to my stomach unless i eat then it subsides for about a hour. I think this is the worst thing i have ever been on in my life . Plus the doctor who gave me this meds knows i have depression issues and knows i smoke i knew from the moment she mentioned me taking it some then was just not right . I urge to stay away from this new so called miracle med it is bad news and yes i know you are not suppose to be smoking on it so why did she prescribe it to me?????

I'm 50 and was having a hard time with perimenopause and really heavy periods. This was the end of my 2nd month on Yaz. I had lots of headaches and tracer like lights (floaters) but everything else was okay, maybe a little depressed. But suddenly this week (with 5 pills left before the white ones) I started having uncontrollable panic attacks. I went to the dr. and came home with Valium (talked myself out of going on Zoloft). Then things got so bad on Saturday I went to the dr. and got some Zoloft. While at the pharmacy I asked about anxiety and panic attacks having something to do with Yaz. She said yes. I came home and found this site. Zoloft is still in the bottle. I threw the rest of the Yaz away. I like the weight loss, shorter period, less PMS, but I can't function having panic attacks. Guess I'll just go cold turkey on perimenopause - it can't last that much longer (yeah, right! ;-))

I was on Ortho Low for about 2 years after my son was born then switched over to Yaz because of all the "wonderful" benefits that it claims to have. After 3 months of being on Yaz, I started to feel like my head was in a fog and I felt overwhelmed. At first I thought it was just stress from work and home life but then my vision started getting blurry and I had a hard time focusing on things. I have never felt like this before and it took me a while to realize that it was Yaz that was causing it. I called my OBGYN and she confirmed that all of my symptoms (blurry vision, mood swings, feeling overwhelmed, loss of appetite) were things that she had heard from other paitents who have tried Yaz. So no more Yaz for me. I think doctors should do a better job at warning patients of the side effects of new drugs.

moody/depression, stomach pains, lack of energy, some weight gain, but lighter regular periods

Yaz has been driving me crazy. I keep having these mental break downs and before my period I hate myself and everyone around me and just walk around and cry to myself and stressing out. I've had times of extreme fatigue as well, but that may or may not be due to the pill. I lost weight first, then put some on and my chest grew, then gained again, but lost in my chest. There are other side effects that I also have a hard time to blame on Yaz, but even doctors have very little way of explaining them. It's a horrible roller coaster for me since I switched from Orthotricylen Lo in AUG2007. I am jealous of those who have had a successful experience with Yaz, however, I believe I am NOT one of them.
