I haven't taken BCP's in about 15 years. I recently started due to severe endomistriosis and extreme moodiness (which I believed was PMDD) I went to my gyno and she put me on YAZ. I am on my 2nd month of YAZ. My first month was fine and I actually enjoyed not having my period for the first time in a million years and my moodiness seemed to be gone. I am now into my 2nd week of my 2nd month and I have to say it sort of sucks. Im on the fence about this product. It has decreased the severity of my PMS symptoms as far as the pain goes, but I still got all of my usual symptoms (only less painful) except for the extreme moodiness. And, even though I have been consistent about taking the pill I have had a very very light but steady period for the past 6 or so days (which is actually longer than my normal periods). The other bad things about this pill is I have had a complete drop in libido and very extreme fatigue, to the point where I feel like a walking zombie. I would have to say the only thing good about it is the fact that my severe moodiness (during PMS) was completely gone, and it lightened my PMS symptoms and flow. So, I haven't decided if this is working for me or not.

Hello everyone..
I've been on YAZ for about a week now. My MD prescribed it because of my hormonal fluctuations before my period cause me to get a nasty yeast infection EVERY MONTH! ugh... The purpose was to stabilize my hormones (he wanted me to skip the placebo pills and only have a period once every three months). The first few days that I took this I felt okay. I noticed heart palpitations the second or third day that are still present. Yesterday I started noticing memory problems (little things like not being able to remember if I flushed the toilet or closed the garage door, followed by obsessive thoughts of needing to check on every little thing). I've also been more tired than normal since day 3 or 4. Today I'm almost a week into the pills and I had trouble sleeping last night and woke up this morning with EXTREME moodiness and a headache. I cried for 3 hours this morning for no reason and totally went off on my husband when he called me during his lunch break - the first REAL fight we have had in almost a year!!!! I also started spotting yesterday with cramps and today it's heavier. I'm not due for a period for at least 2 more weeks. I called my GYN and told him I would no longer be taking these pills. I'll happily deal with monthly yeast infections over feeling like a crazy woman. I haven't felt like this since I was diagnosed with post partem depression 3 years ago (which has been completely gone for at least 2 years - cured by 4 months of zoloft). You all know your bodies and yes we respond to things differently, but there's no need to put yourselves through this.. My advice to other women - if you are sensitive to your hormonal fluctuations, don't try YAZ!

i have been taking yaz for about a month. i'm not taking it for birth control purposes, but because of period pain and irregularity. i was taking another low-dose birth control on which i had awful side effects of breast swelling, tenderness, extreme moodiness, and a complete lack of sex drive.

so far i haven't had the side effects of my previous pill, but i am definitely moody. i find myself getting upset a lot easier, crying for no reason, and being more aggressive and sensitive about things when i am normally not. i feel very different emotionally on this pill. i've decided to give it one more month and if things don't balance out, i'm going to go off it. what makes me feel worse is this winds up getting taken out on my family and boyfriend, and i don't want it affecting our relationship. also, i am having some sexual side effects, like an inability to physically get "excited" when this has never been an issue before.

Thank you all for sharing. I couldn't figure out why for the last 4 months I have been extremely exhausted and the only thing I had changed in my life was starting Yaz. This morning I just couldn't take it anymore so I started to google "side effects" from Yaz. I had gone to my doctor and told her there is something wrong but I don't know what it was. She blew it off and said it was depression and told me to take anti-depression medication. I have had major depression in my past and know what it feels like and I was 100% sure that there was something strange happening to my body, not depression. My other side effect, besides the common ones many people wrote about was severe body aches. I am 34 and it feels like I am 80. It is hard for me to get out of bed without giving a good holler. My moodiness, sleeplessness, bloating, headaches, body aches, and feeling exhausted 24 hours a day has halted my life. I am stopping Yaz TODAY!!!!

I'm 36 yrs old. I went on Yaz 2 full months ago not for birth control purposes, but to control heavy bleeding, my hair falling out (not hair loss, it grows back), memory problems, period-related fatigue, and extreme moodiness and irritability. So far, I haven't had any negative emotional side effects that others of you have. In fact, it seems to have helped my moodiness and irritability slightly. However, I have experienced two side effects that I cannot tolerate if it doesn't "work itself out" (my doc's words) by the end of my 3rd pack of Yaz. From the first week that I was on Yaz, my libido has been M.I.A. Not only has my sex drive disappeared, but I have found thoughts of sex repulsing me. :( I apologize if this next statement is "TMI" (too much info) but it IS a side effect of this pill that I have experienced! When hubby and I are intimate, I find it IMPOSSIBLE to climax, no matter how hard we try and how "into it" I am. This is not normal for me. This side effect is very disturbing for my husband, who is now insisting that I stop taking the Yaz. I am giving this pill one more month to redeem itself, otherwise it will never set pretty little packet in my house again.

I have been off YAZ now for almost a month.
I still have anxiety, but nowhere near as bad.
Did you know YAZ can cause upper repertory infections? I had 2 at one time. I thought it was just the cold season. And if Getting a PAP once a year isn't bad enough, YAZ can cause your test fail. in other words you have to have another. YUP! All from the YAZ most of this is on their site and on the listed warnings and side effects. For me YAZ meant Anxiety I stopped taking it one week into my 6th month. I feel a bit better everyday.
I just hate to think that I got put on Zoloft and Xanax because of my BCP
and now I have to battle getting off the pills to feel like me again. I have done a lot of research and talked to a lot of people. Its not just YAZ its many other birth controls. well... there are always condoms.

I am here b/c I've been having crying spells with very light (at first no) periods. I've been on Yaz for about 4-5 months and I don't know if it's causing it. I've reviewed my life and don't really have any particular reason to be crying... great family, good life, good job, etc. so... why the crying. I'm here trying to find out if this might be a side effect. The good side? I'm not as irritable as I was before YAZ, while taking Ortho-tricyclen.
