I started taking Yaz 1.5 months ago. During the first pack I saw little to no side effects, period lasted 4 days and was drastically lighter than before starting Yaz. Before Yaz I would bleed for 5 days and go thru a bag of super pads, with Yaz I barely bleed enough to use 6 pads in 4 days, BIG difference!
Now into the second pack I had a headache for 3 days straight, I am having stomach pain, I eat only because I know I have to or I wouldn't eat at all, I have no sex drive even though I think about sex and things excite me I just don't want to be bothered with the physical act, my breast are tender all the time, my lower back is in pain, charlie-horses in my calves and back of thighs, I am constipated, and very gassie!

I am 20 years old and have been on Yaz for a year now. Before the Yaz I was on OrthoTriCylcen Lo for 3 years and tried a few others that didn't do well for me at other times. My Gyno prescribed me Yaz because I had heavy bleeding and intense pain every time my period comes, and I have been known to be very moody. I have a past medical history of heart problems and GI problems. My Gyno said Yaz could also help the anxiety from those issues. The first month into the Yaz I noticed horrible nausea, I couldn't eat anything, major stomach pain, headaches, very lethargic, back pain, leg pain, and increased anxiety. I went back to my Gyno about a week later because my pain was so bad and my bleeding was heavier and MORE painful. She said to give it a few months so my body can adapt and everything will be better. She then said that my other side effects (like nausea and back pain and anxiety) were unrelated and I needed to see my primary care physician. My mom told me to stop using the Yaz, but I decided I wanted to keep trying it. So no I see my primary physician once a month because I am so "sick." I am on like 10,000 meds to try and help everything. Even he doesn't think it could be the Yaz. There are days where my pain levels are so high that I cannot sleep or get out of bed. I have had blood work, MRIs, Sonograms, Colonoscopys, Ultrasounds, etc.. I am so tired of this. At this point I feel like the doctors think i'm a hypochondriac. I have an apt to see my gyno again (for the 5th time), i'm printing out this page and showing her i'm not crazy!

I'm about 1.5 months into being on Yaz. For the year & a half prior, I had a non-hormonal IUD which I only stopped because of the excessive bleeding it caused the entire time I had it. A month and a half into being on Yaz, my breast are so sore and enormously bloated (like when I was pregnant). I've also had very bad stomach pain - not cramping, but burning and muscular pain. I've also be excessively tired. I tend towards not being super-energetic, but now I feel very, very lethargic. After reading all the posts and researching Yaz's side effects, I may stop after the end of this pack. The one thing I did absolutely love was the ~ 3-4 day, very light period. But, that benefit isn't worth the side effects. :(

Hello, I was on Yaz 5 months and I had a few muscle pains, nothing horrible. One day I started having SEVERE stomach pains. I went to the ER, then my fam doctor and he diagnosed me with gastritis. He put me on Nexium which wasn't helping. I couldn't eat anything beside eggs and bread. I was out of work a few days before I figured out certain foods were irritating it. I saw a Yahoo Answers post from a woman who said Yaz caused gastritis. I took it upon myself to stop taking them and in 2 days it was gone! Something that went on 2 weeks, severe pain and it was gone almost immediately after I quit this pill!(It says gastroenteritis on the side effects in the pamphlet). I was on other pills for 9 yrs and never had a problem except PMS! BTW my muscles were better in a week after stopping! I know it was this pill. When I first started it I read the side effects people were posting I was like yeah yeah it'll work itself out. NO, THIS WAS A BAD PILL FOR ME! I f you notice a gnawing and sharp stomach pain that's intermittent and you're on this pill, stop or it won't go away!

I've been on various BCP for almost 10 years now (was diagnosed with dysmenorrhea and menoragia). The last year and a half have been on Yaz. I've had extreme fatigue (to the point where I was thinking I had fibromyalgia or CFS) for almost that entire 10 years. My blood tests always came back perfectly fine (no anemia, no thyroid problems; which at that point doctors did not want to deal with me any more and would try to through it off as depression). I've also almost constantly had stomach pain, not severe, but nagging and am nausiated most of the time.
My doctor switched me to Yaz in order to help stop the hormonal migraines, terrible mood swings, and increasingly bad periods (bleeding and cramp wise), and dizziness (that had come on within the past 2 months) that the Mircette was giving me. At first I felt relief (mostly in the dizziness, mood swings and migraines, but not from the fatigue or stomach aches). Increasingly though the migraines have progressed to where I now get them for 2-3 days before my period and 2-3 days after my period. Skipping the period does nothing because 2 days after starting a new pack I get a migraine (my doctor tells me that all the pills are the same except the last few, but it has happened multiple times now, so something must be different).
After a conversation I had with a friend who noticed that her fatigue would lift while she was menstruating and said that her doctor had said that this was because of the break in hormones (and not having put two in two together that those were the only times I wasn't fatigued either), I've decided that I have had it with birth control pills and am going to see if my older body will now work without them. I recommend to anyone who does not need birth control pills for a severe medical condition to NOT use them. They mess up your body.

Changes since my 7/31 post: Headaches are gone, but still have lower back pain, breast tenderness, stomach pain, eat only because I know I have to and now I think my hair is falling out more than before. I went into a fit of rage last night for NO REASON, woke up mad at the world today and then busted out crying when I was blow drying my hair. I swear you felt like you are going nuts. I was thinking what in the world just happened! I get soooo angry and that is one of the reasons my Gyno put me on Yaz in the first place was to regulate my mood and anger issues getting closer to my period. I have 4 pills until I am supposed to start my period so I am going to see if these anger and crying issues hang around or was just a fluke. I sure hope so, I don't know if a lighter period is worth the roller coaster ride on emotions!
