Given Zanaflex after 6 back surgeries. Dosage take 2 tabs (4mg) 4 times a day. Total dosage 24hrs (8mg x 4 = 32mg.) This seems high to me. What happens is my stomach does not digest food, mobility slows way down; can not urinate, pass gas. I am a 52 female, with spinal problems. I also have HTN, and when I miss a dose to drive, my face is flushed bright red, B/P soars in the 200's. I can not move my bowels up to 10 days. I am now off this medicine and yes, I hurt, but, once in awhile I will take 1/2 tab. Anyone else experience such bowel, urination problems? And, yes, the HTN? I am now on the generic. This is the medicine from hell. I feel better with a lowered dose. Please help me with your comments. by kwncln

While taking daily dosage of 18mg increasing to 20mg after 4 days (regular increase of 2mg) I experienced a sudden blackout lasting approx. 5 minutes. I am 58 years of age and had never passed out before. The reason was bradycardia and a drop in BP, from a norm of around 125/85 to 95/58. BP and pulse rate normalised in four days but dosage not increased since. No benefit yet found in dosage of 20mg. Slight nausea and insomnia also experienced. Wondering if I should continue; following advice of GP but would really prefer a homeoepathic remedy if there were one available!
Sincerely,
Rita Hudd

Thought I was losing my mind--started seeing thing's and people I knew were not there ---Saw my Husband outside in the snow with our dog I thought he was waving---I went to let him in ---He was not there ------ my 19 year old grandson was seen as a 12 year old sittiing outside in the snow smiling at me---I once again ran to the door of course he was not there. Also saw white mice running down my door's ---slept with my light's on and was very upset that I was losing my mind. So relieved to find Discontinuing Tizanidine stopped all symton's. Very frightening expierence.

I have no idea what zanaflex has to do with back problems. It makes me super mad and I seem to be losing my mind. I have very bad leg and back pain and this seems to make it hurt worse because it stresses me out. I have really bad hallucinations that make me think I'm going crazy. What is this zanaflex crap? What is it actually perscribed for?

Experienced distorted vision, extreme drowsyness, dizziness. Seemed to work on tension headaches, but I was sleeping it off most of the time. Works well if you don't have anything to do with your day but lay down. I have stopped taking my morning dosage in order to be able to drive and function at work. Having a severe headache is still more functional than sleeping half the day off. The dosage was one pill three times a day as needed. This was in combination with Vioxx (anti-inflamatory/ pain reliever) once a day.

This medication will make you "Crazy". I was hauled off in an Ambulance and lucky enough to be released from the Hospital "because he Emergency Room Doctor had seen these same side effects in other patients before. I was just this side of being locked up in the Psych Ward for "days". The reason I was put on this medication was for pain after 9 spine surgeries. Zanaflex and Narco nailed me.
AM I CALLING MY DOCTOR ON MONDAY ??? YOU BET YOUR a##. I AM SO MAD BECAUSE HE KNOWS HOW SENSITIVE I AM TO ALMOST ALL PAIN MEDICATIONS. I PAID THE PRICE FOR HIS BEING SO STUPID, AND FOR ACTIONS HE DECIDED WOULD BE A GOOD "MEDICATION FOR ME"! I AM VERY ANGRY.

My husband is suffering from a back injury, He has been prescribed, Soma, Zanaflex and Meprozine. Since being on these meds his moods have changed. He has become irritable, depressed, short tempered and very argumentative. He is not the man I married while he is on these meds and when he doesn't take them he is ok for a while but then is like some one on drugs who needs their next fix. I am very concerned for my husband and my family because he has started taking yelling at my daughter for stupid kid stuff and arguing and yelling at me about small stupid things like whether a valve was open under the kitchen sink. He has had a migraine for 3 weeks now... his appetite has decreased... he has been having weird dreams and twitching in his sleep.. He has also experienced dizziness, insomnia, restlessness and irritability. There are other side effects... I do not recommend these medications at all especially together....
