Zithromax Z-Pak and severe abdominal pain

I was given 6 tablets to cure a sore throat. After the first 2 tablets, I suffered severe abdominal pain and was told to take Imodium to relieve the pain. When the pain went off, I continued taking the third and fourth pill but stopped taking it when I felt unwell. Then the chills and the crying started. I couldn't sleep and thought I was going crazy. I didn't make the connection until I read this website. It has been almost a month since I stopped taking the medication and like most of those who had suffered similar symptoms, I have never had any emotional or mental problems and this is scary. Someone should tell the drug company to post a serious warning on this awful side effect which can really destroy lives. Can someone who have found a solution tell me how long will this last and if there is any way to expedite relief of symptoms because I cannot even concentrate on work, sleep and carry on effectively with daily activities. Had severe flu--suspected bronchitis and strep. Took z-pack. Immediately started to feel better. High fever, chest pain, aches gone. BUT now 1 week after I took z-pack, I have severe abdominal pain and diarrhea after every meal. Can't keep anything from immediately going out the other end. So miserable. I'm thinking the good flora was killed off in my intestines. Calling the doctor tomorrow.

Prescribed 3 day z pak after Thanksgiving 2004 for strep throat and sinus infection. Had severe abdominal pain during course and a couple of days afterwards. Also had swollen glands a few days after taking. Ended up back at the doctor for severe vertigo and headaches two days before Christmas. After all of the pain I went through the z pak did not clear up my sinus infection and I was put on another antibiotic.

Husband put in hospital on day 4 of taking this drug for SEVERE vomiting and diarrhea, lost 13 lbs in 3 days!, will be in hospital for AT LEAST 4 days! Have found out a young women (late 20's - early 30's) was put in hospital for SEVERE abdominal pain on day 3 of this drug treatment. BEWARE THIS DRUG!
