I started taking generic Zocor 5 days ago and I too feel like I've been hit by a truck. My neck is so stiff and I seem wide awake at night and have trouble sleeping. After doing some research I thought perhaps I had adrenal fatigue because I had most of those symptoms. I'm going to quit the Zocor cold turkey today and see if I start feeling better because it's difficult getting up and going to work. My muscles are aching and when I get up I seem to be stiff all over, even felt some weird chest pain this morning and lightheadedness. If this is how I have to feel on cholesterol lowing medication then I'll just keep my high cholesterol (258).

In July I was put on lovastatin for moderately elevated cholesterol, I have a family history of heart disease. After being on it for a week I started feeling achy, and flu-like symptoms. My joints and back hurt. My doctor had me go off for two weeks and try again. This time after just two days all symptoms came back. Again, my doctor took me off the lovastatin and a month later had me restarted Zocor (simvastatin). My back pain got worse and the back of my legs started aching and getting charleyhorses at night. My doctor checked a CK level which was normal and her nurse advised me to keeping taking the drug, that it wasn't doing any harm to my muscles and that my side effects would probably get better. Two weeks later I woke up in the middle of the night with restless arms and muscle twtiching all over my body. Another CK level was done and it was normal. I have seen two neurologists and they seem to think it is lingering effects of the statin drugs. I have been off of them for a month and still have twitching, although I think it is a little better. I am really getting tired of this and think that something is really wrong. Has anyone else ever experienced somethimg like this?

I now take zetia because the Lipitor I was origonally on caused the aching in my legs and back as well as my shoulders. Zetia does not cause this but my Cholesterol isnt as low as the Lipitor so my doctor wants to put me on Vytorum which is a combo of zocor and zetia. Hearing about the same symptoms from zocor makes me heitant.

I am 38 y/o male on Zocor for over 7 years. Had heart attack @ age 32. Cardiologist put me on Zocor immediately. Have experienced just about every problem mentioned on this site. Took 20 mg for first 6 yrs., Dr. upped to 40 mg. recently. Memory has not been the same since getting on this product. Has affected short term memory from day 1., which in turn has made college course work and other work related activities even that much more challenging. Have severe pain on left lower leg and other numerous muscle aches. Most noteably, getting up in the mornings and getting out of bed are a tremendous challenge. Once up for 15 mins. + I start feeling more like my old self. Never felt like this before taking this product. Tired of aching all over and losing ability to communicate/ pronounce words or forgetting words all together.

I'm a 49yr old male. My cholesetol is 226 and my doctor put me on 20mg of Zocor. I have taken it for two days. The morning after the first pill I found it very hard to wake up, initially. The morning after the second pill it was even harder to wake up and I stayed tired all day. My muscles started aching, I had a dull headache, and felt pressure on my eyes. All of this was before reading about the side-effects, therefor it is not psychosimatic(sic). I will not be taken the pill for a third time.

My doctor started me on Mevacor a few months ago at 40 mg - I could hardly stand up to walk - my back was killing me! Then she put meon 5 mg of Zocor - okay for the first few weeks, and my cholestorol went down so she told me to double it to 10 mg - then the leg cramps started. I stopped taking if for a few weeks and restarted at 5 mgs (again) last week - now my legs are aching and my ankles are swollen big time. Also noticing fatique and some blues/depression. I told my doctor today that I am not taking it anymore! Not asking her, TELLING her.
