I take zocor 20mg every night. My ankles are puffy and do hurt, but my biggest problem seems to be my intestiines. I know this isn't a very nice subject to talk about but I was wondering if anyone else has these same problems. I have awful smelling gas and non formed stools every morning. I don't know if this is a side affect of zocor or not, but it seems to have started about several months ago after taking zocor for awhile. Any help anyone can give me will be greatly appreciated. I am also a type 2 diabetic and take metformin twice a day.

Thanks

Last night while getting ready for sleep, I felt a sharp pain in my left groin area. I didn't think anything of it but it then happened again. I got up and put my hand around the area to feel for any lumps and didn't feel any. I then went to sleep. Today it happened again while walking and sitting, the pain comes and goes, but it's not too sharp. I've been on Zocor 20mg for 6 months. I don't know if it's a side effect from Zocor but it surely has me concerned especially since I'm reading so much about the bad side effects. If this pain gets worse I might just discontinue the Zocor and call my doctor.

I'm 57 and started taking Zocor 20mg 1 month ago. Within one week I was experiencing severe pains in my upper arm muscles so that I couldn't even sleep on either side or raise my arms to wash my face. The pains are sometime on one side then the other, then both. It also moves to my shoulders on both sides. I began suspecting the pain was a side effect of the medication. It also made my heart feel funny at times. I stopped taking the meds 5 days ago and still need to take a pain pill to sleep. I'm calling my dr tomorrow after reading all of this!!! I'm praying the pain with soon go away!

I have been on Tricor for about 3-years to mostly help with my triglycerides and I've not had any problems with it but my cholestrol was still high. So, my doctor had me add Zocor 20mg too. I took this for about a month and from day 1, my stomach was upset. It felt like something was moving in it. Then a few weeks after taking it, my left side started giving me a dull, little pain that moved from the left side to the right side. Finally, I called my doctor about this and he said to quit taking it and call him in 5-days too see how I felt. Today is the 1st day I've been off of it and my stomach is fine but I'm a little shaky.

musle pain.

I am also having headaches and just on power.

Does this sound like a reaction to the ZOCAR???

I have been on Zocor (20mg) for about 40 days. I am an active, 33 year old male. I have a very balanced diet, and am not overweight, and an ex smoker. Unfortunately, my cholesterol is high. (at one time, it was 289 as a vegetarian).
After 40 days, I was rechecked, and the cholesterol went from 249 to 169. Tri's went down to 140 from 200... HDL and LDL are now in the good range. There is no evidence of liver or muscle damage.
Here's the problem. I'm severly fatigued. I can't get out of bed in the morning, even after getting a full nights rest. I feel "depressed" although I don't know if it is just because I'm tired. I quit smoking a week before starting Zocor, so I"m not sure if the lack of nicotine is contributing to the malaise.
I've had some
The doctor is taking me off of Zocor for a month, to see if things improve.
I could live with the fatigue if it would eventually go away, because Zocor has done what it's intended to do....

Was on ZOCOR 20mg for about 2 years and suffered from leg cramps and malaise... lost interest in sex, etc. Dr. increased dosage to 40mg and noticed bad rash on forehead and scalp area that came and went unexplainably. Skin disease speacialist called it "acute dandruff". Changed to LIPITOR and head rash disappeared but left red and patchy areas where rash would normally have been. After 2 weeks on 10mg LIPITOR, noticed loss of strength in legs, pain in muscle from armpit to elbow area.. thought it was heart-related and scared me... pain became fairly constant... Also, had "white-outs" for minutes at a time while walking or excercising, feelings of irritability and depression. I am quitting taking ZOCOR and LIPITOR, plus, any similar drugs and will go as "natural" as I can to improve my Triglyceride and Cholestorol levels. The resultant side effects of these two drugs are more ominous than their benefits. It scares me that Doctors do not consider the drugs as a cause of your symptoms when you describe problems to them.. there seems to be no acknowledged connection to the drugs but yet I read on forums like this one similar effects that I experienced. People to people will always be the best source of information, I suppose. I would suggest to anyone taking Lipitor or Zocor and experiencing muscle pain, joint pain, malaise, depression, "white-outs", loss of memory, leg cramps, unusual headaches, any form of insomnia and possibly darkening of urine or yellowing of skin, eyes, etc., to quit taking these drugs immediately and tell your doctor about what you are experiencing. It could possibly save your life.

I'm a new userid of Zocor @ 20mg a day. 53 year old male.
I have a past history of multiple low back disc bulging against the spinal cord and problem with two vertabra in the neck. I have over come the leg and low back pain. I still have pain in the neck and left arm.
A 1.75ml of scotch last me about 4 days. Never a hangover or head ache. I'm a smoker too (1 pack/day).
I have no history of head aches save for a very infrequent sinus congestion/infection.

This is day five of Zocor for me. I slept well but as soon as I arose and had my normal glass of water, my sinus swelled up and had a head ache all day. I have no idea if was caused by the many places I visited yesterday or the Zocor. It did get my attention.

I did not get any good info from my provider on what side effects to expect, so here I am. I'll be watching for what has been posted and I thank you all for sharing. I'll let you know what happens.
