Stop taking drugs while pregnant!! Here, in the US, they kill our babies by making then sick through these drugs. In old times women were not allowed to take prescribed drugs while pregnant. There's a nutrition issue that can help you diminish nausea. But please, stop injuring our babies and make pharmaceutical industry get richer. They don't care about your health, but their own pockets. Please, be smart, and use old-fashioned recipes of herbs combined with nutrition. Trust me, it will help you keep your and your babies' health well. God bless.

I took Zofran after a terrible Migraine with severe vomiting. I was given it in the hospital and then I was on it for about 4 days. I was constipated the whole time but didn't realize it was a side effect. Now over two weeks later I'm still constipated and I've been off the Zofran for the 1 1/2 weeks. I have to take this Senna-gen lax every evening in order to go to the bathroom. If I don't take the Senna then I don't go. I've tried going off it for 2 days at a time. I get a great vegetarian diet...which is full of fiber. I'm very unhappy that I still have constipation. In fact, my doctor said that I have Irritable Bowel Syndrome now. Please help if you have any feedback. L

I am currently taking Zofran (day 3) My prescription says to take it every 4 hours. I am noticing that I am fine with the first tablet (besides constipation). When I take the second one, I am natious and have this incredible desire to not stop eating. Nothing seems to satisfy the hunger. Not to mention the incredible bloating and cramping Anyone else felt this way? Im going to go to just the one in the morning and just be sick the rest of the day once it wears off.

Zofran has not been helpful for me at all. As a matter of a fact i will still throw up after taking it. It has gave me real bad constipation which has caused bad stomach pain. It is supposidly the strongest anti nausea med out there but does not help me at all.

Hi there, Make sure to check with your OB on what type of enema is okay for pregnant women. I checked into using that when I was on Zofran, but was told some are okay and some can cause contractions and should not be used. Hope you are feeling better. When I stopped taking the Zofran and decided I would cope with being sick for the rest of the pregnancy, I changed my pre-natals and also went to acupuncture for the nausea (someone who was used to working with pregnant people) and between the two I felt better.

I am about 8 weeks pregnant and was prescribed Zofran by my ob/gyn for severe nausea. I bragged on the drug after the 1st dose because I felt wonderful. I was prescribed every 8 hours as needed. The first pill I took on a Tuesday night, the second on Thursday night when I developed severe motion sickness, the third on Friday (by then I could not stand to move around). By Monday of the next week I felt as if I was going to explode. I was extremely miserable. I realized that I felt worse after the Zofran because of severe constipation. I felt as if everything I had eaten for the last week was just sitting in my stomach. I had nausea, dizziness, headaches, indigestion w/reflux, excessive gas and bloating, and a horrible taste in my mouth. I stopped taking the Zofran and used an enema and prune juice to clear my system. Some how, compare to how the Zofran made me feel the nausea doesn't seem so bad!

Thank you for posting your comments and for those who shared what effect it has on on them and their babies. I started taking Zofran after I had to go to the hospital during my pregnancy for being so sick and dehydrated and down 17 pounds. I was hoping the sickness would stop at the end of the first trimester, but I am now 17 weeks and I don't think it is going to go away. I started reducing the dose and cutting the pill in half and quarters, but I was still very nervous about taking a medication when I was pregnant. A couple days ago I stopped taking it, about 5 weeks of using it. Now I am back to being sick and trying everything again to get through the day, but I feel more secure in the decision. I also have an appt with an Acupuncturist in two days who treats nausea in pregnant women. I am very excited about tying this new option that is not a medication. Thank you again for sharing!!

I have experienced pretty bad morning sickness during weeks 6-present. I am currently 11 weeks pregnant. I vomit regularly each morning and evening, but can make it through the day as long as I eat regularly. The night is bad, in fact, it is difficult to sleep because of the constant nausea.
I took a generic of Zofran just once and thought it was a miracle drug. My nausea stopped literally within minutes of taking the Zofran. I was so happy!
However, about 3pm the same day, I began experiencing the WORST MIGRAINE of my life. I thought I was dying. I kept thinking, I must have a brain tumor or something. It hurt to breathe. I asked my husband to call the pharmacist, my doctor, everyone because I was in so much excruciating pain.
In summary, I would advise everyone NOT TO TAKE ZOFRAN!!! If you have morning sickness, trust me, that is tough but nothing compared to the severe migraine you might develop due to the drug.

I'm experiencing severe vertigo, dizziness and debilitating headaches. It does curve my nausea for pregnancy, but I've found that taking half the dose prevents the other side effects from being so severe. Anyone else experience this?

I took Zofran for nearly my entire pregnancy for severe vomiting, and it was the wonder drug. HOWEVER, I want to let everyone know that my son has a lot of health issues (i.e. severe reflux, asthma, hypotonia, oral motor issues) and I've met some other moms with children who have similar issues. Surprisingly, all of these moms took Zofran through their pregnancies as well, so my gut tells me there is a link.

What does this mean I'm pregnant and taking this medication because I throw up anything I eat. I'm 4 months pregnant and lost about 15 pounds already.'
Help would the pills zofran help more than the pump in my leg.

More observation than side effect. I have a number of chronic, debilitating health problems including: Crohn's Disease with some additional Ulcerative Colitis type symptoms, Chronic Pancreatitis and Lumbar Radiculopathy resulting in sciatic nerve pain in both legs all the way to the toes. Needless to say, I require a number of medications each day. I am allergic to both Compazine and Phenergan, Tigan is only mildly mildly mildly effective if really at all. I was introduced to Zofran during a recent hospitalization through my IV and thought it was a miracle sent from Heaven. I got home and had the Zofran pills in the little blue bottle and sadly found them to be not much more effective than was Tigan for some strange reason. So, my primary care Doc wrote the Zofran ODT for me and "ta Dah," my miracle came back!!!!! If you don't seem to get relief from the tablets, please, call your Doc and ask about the ODT version, Orally Disolving Tablet.... pops out of a foil wrapper packet, place on your tongue, let it dissolve on the surface of the tongue and at least for me, typically within 15 to 20 minutes, I have nearly total, 6 to 8 hours of relief from my nausea. And it's not mild nausea, there are times when I wind up going 4 or 5 days with absolute zero food intake and only enough water to try to choke down my meds and when you're so sick to your stomach that even the water and meds come back up, you need relief and the Zofran ODT does the job for me and I hope by adding this note to the site, maybe someone else might get some much needed relief too. This medication has been very effective for me, who suffers from nausea on a frequent basis and does not know yet for a 100% cause of it. It is possibly anxiety.
Anyway, one side effect this medication causes for me is constipation. But a lot of different medications cause that. If you are constipated, start taking fish oil. It makes stools softer and more regular.
Another side effect is drowsiness but that goes away after a while of taking the medication.
