The first time I was put on zoloft I had diarrhea constantly. I would go out to eat at a restaurant and before I had even left the restaurant, the entire dinner had already passed through me - mostly undigested. I couldn't sleep, but I had tons of energy. This went on for months, and I lost 30 lbs. Along with a lot of hair. I don't remember whether or not I was as twitchy before I started taking zoloft. I've had bad dry mouth, but I've found that Biotene toothpaste and mouthwash help out with that very much. The odd thing is, I had to stop taking zoloft because I changed jobs and couldn't afford it without insurance. Now that I'm back on it, my side effects are completely different. I have major headaches, fatigue, I can sleep all day, and I can't concentrate to save my life. I haven't had any diarrhea, in fact I feel constipated, and hungry. I'm gaining weight instead of losing...?

I was first put on Lexapro for anxiety/panic attacks and that was way to strong for me-I felt very tired and had bad abdomen pains. So my doc switched me to Zoloft. Bad idea. On Zoloft, at first i felt very bad brain fog and had a panic attack every day for at least the first two weeks of being on it and after that went away, i got a pins and needles feeling in my lips and face and hands sometimes too. I panicked about nothing and it gave me really bad moodswings. I would be slap-happy one minute and in tears the next. Or I was just a real B*tch sometimes too. I was very moody. All that went away about a month later and then I got HORRIBLE headaches, so she switched me from 25mg to 50mg. SO MUCH WORSE FOR ME! I had horrible horrible migraines every day i even had to call off work twice it was so bad. She switched me back to 25mg and the headaches still continued. I was on it for a month and a half or 2 months and i gained 10 lbs. at least. I went back to her and she finally took me off the medicine. I have been off it now for almost a week and feel terrible. I have brain fog very bad, feel dizzy and loopy when walking around, sever stomach pains, still eating more and gaining weight, i just feel REALLY out of it! I can not concentrate at my job! BUT MY HEADACHES HAVE VANISHED AND THE DREAMS/NIGHTMARES AT NIGHT ARE GETTING LESS SCARY AND LESS OFTEN!! I hope to lose all side effects within 2 weeks!!!!

I am a 31 year old female who has been taking zoloft 50mg for over a year due to post tramatic syndrom. It took almost 2 months for my anxiety/depression and panic attacks to go away. It did help me get through it but in the process I have gain over 30lbs. I run over 2 miles a day 5 days a week and keep gaining weight. I havent weighed this much since I had my children. Anyway, i quit cold turkey 3 days ago and am experiencing dizziness, crazy, scary dreams, hot flashes and fatigue. I hope it does not get worse. I don't want to be back on the fat pill.

I started taking Zoloft October of 2003. I started with 25mg & slowly graduated to 200mg. Over the past year I have gained 25lbs. even though I exercise 4 days a week for an hour & watch what I eat every day. I couldn't understand why I was gaining weight when I was watching so well. I asked my doctor about weight gain with Zoloft & he said that it actually makes you lose weight. I finally decided to check out websites about the side effects & I was so shocked at how many other people had weight gains also. So I decided to take myself off of Zoloft. For about a week I dropped down to 100mg a day but then deiceded to quit cold turkey & have been feeling like crap ever since. I have severe headaches (which I very rarely ever get), constant feeling of nausea, electric zaps that start at my feet & shoot up through my body, feeling when I turn my head too quickly like my brain is slow to catch up with my eyes & I feel like I'm gonna fall if I don't hold on to something or just relax for a minute.
I realize this is my own fault because I quit cold turkey on my own without consulting with my physician, however I want other people out there to know that you aren't going crazy that the withdrawal symptoms are real & really bad.
I just want to know how long before I start to feel normal again without constantly feeling sick on my stomach.

insidious weight gain - started taking Zoloft in 1997 (7 years ago) - weighed 123 lbs. Now 7 years later I weigh 143 pounds. It happened approximately every time I increased the dosage - 25, 50, 75. 100. 150, 200 mg - weight jumped to 128, 132, 135, 138, 140, 143. I'm 53 so I keep thinking it's menopause, but I think it's really the Zoloft. On 200 mg of Zoloft, who CARES about gaining weight??? After the last dosage increase (150 to 200), I stopped feeling compelled to exercise (jogging, treadmill) - and thus gained the last bunch of pounds.
Am going off Z. soon, will try just Wellbutrin. I can't WAIT.
