I have taking a generic for celexa, until recently I was satisfied with the results, but I had noticed weight gain. I called my doctor and asked to be put on something which would help with the weight gain. What a mistake, she put me on zoloft and now I have not only gained 5 lbs in the week I have taken it, but I cannot sleep, suffer from headaches, suffer from food cravings at night and taking clonazepam is not helping. Under normal circumstances taking 1/2 of a clonazepam would give me great rest. Last night I took, 1 and 3/4 and still could not sleep. Needless to say, I am going back to my other antidepressant. I am small boned and when I gain weight, My blood pressure goes up, which then requires me to take pills for that. I don't want to go on blood pressure meds just because of the weight gain. Hope this helps someone.

2 days of taking zoloft...on and off jaw and throat stiffness, cold sweat, zap like sounds in head at night, vivid dreams, slight diarrhea, very sensitive eyes, dilated eyes, trouble focusing eyes to read, fogginess, anxious feeling, less emotion, trouble smiling, overall muscle stiffness, headaches, sudden feeling of nausea throughout day
my heart does feel slower though which is the reason it was prescribed.. still have feelings of anxiety which was the other reason

I was a healthy 23 year old. I have had a pretty rollercoaster 3 yrs. I had a baby young, lost my mother to cancer, moved to FL. came back to NC, moved in a stressful house(knowing it would be) had issues with the father of my child(now resolved) and lost my brother. I started getting the attacks maybe a month after I lost my brother. I was put on Zoloft(50mg), it seemed to be working, but only being on it for about 2 weeks I started to have fluttering around my heart. I saw my doc and she took me off of it. I'm also on birth control. Now I have insane thoughts that something is going to happen or something bad is going on in my body. I have these weird headaches. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don't. It feels like my head has this fullness most of the time. Or I'll get this quick zapping feeling on one side or both. I have an app coming up and I will be bringing this up. I haven't had any of these symptoms since being on/off the meds and my birth control.

I started Zoloft 50 mg about two months ago. I must say i have absolutely no complaints! I was prescribed the medication due to mood swings and depression before and while i was on my period..I take my zoloft and night and within a few days i noticed my mood swings started to go away! I felt more patient and less anxious and pissy all the time. Not to mention before zoloft i was tossing and turning all night long thinking about stuff that was stressing me out..Now, i sleep like a baby! the occasional nightmare every now and then but nothing i cannot handle. The only thing i have to say is when i take it at night i have to have water with it. At least 5 sips if not the heartburn is unbelievable!! So if you are thinking about it make sure you take it with something to drink..I have had no weight gain,no headaches,no suicidal thoughts and no nausea! Also, the sex drive has gone down a little bit, but not much. I would recommend this medicine to anyone! It dosent make you like a zombie or out of your mind. It is amazing!!

I have been on Zoloft since June of this yr. I was depressed, had anxiety attacks that felt like heart attacks, racing thoughts, felt unnecessary in this world, cryed alot and felt like I was going to be fired at my job all of the time.
I feel better on Zoloft. My moods are more even. I work nights now and am alone from 5p to 11p. I have had headaches alot lately. My dreams are pretty vivid and I wonder if I lived it or if I dreamed it alot now as well. I asked my doctor about this product causing weight gain and she denied that it did. In fact she blamed the steroid shot I had for allergies this winter for the hunger I have felt. Maybe so, but I was eating before that and now that I have found this site I am afraid that it is the Zoloft afterall. I am on 75 mg's. I have felt a bit dizzy at times, blamed allergies, now I am not so certain. Also, after I eat I have been feeling nausea too. Zoloft? I do not know. Is there anything a person can take or do that will remove the anxiety, racing thoughts, depression etc without feeling other horrible effects to feel better? Now I am afraid to go off of the drug. I certainly do not want to return to the way I felt, or the mean mood swings or the pains that felt like a heart attack. I also sweat alot at nights while sleeping. Thought it was menopause? Don't know. What do we do? Other than the dreams, sweats, overeating, stomach upsets, racing to the rest room etc. I feel okay. HA.

I'm having a LOT of trouble sleeping! I can go to sleep, but I don't stay asleep, and when I wake up, I just feel like my muscles are all tensed up and I need to stretch out all the time. I toss and turn and can't get rid of that feeling like I want to jump out my own skin. I'm tired all the time because I can't sleep...I've tried taking it at different times throughout the day, and nothing works.

I was on 125 mg of zoloft for 3 year but decided to go off this spring and weaned off very slowly. I have been zoloft free for 10 days and have been experiencing extreme dizziness, fatigue to the point of having to nap every day, wild mood swings and severe hot flashes. I would really would like to stay off but am not sure I can get through this. Any suggested are greatly appreciated!

I have been taking a low dose of zoloft (25mg) daily for about 9 months now and it has helped with my peri-menopause symptoms. I was having anger issues and depression associated with the changing hormones. I have never had these problems before recently so that is why they put me on the zoloft. It has helped a lot but the side effects have caused me to request a change in medication. I have some mild problems with diarrhea and headaches but nothing too bad. The worse one is the total lack of sex drive. I have no use for sex at all any longer. What is worse is that even if I do it for my husband it is impossible for me to have an orgasm or even become aroused. Strange. Hopefully there is something else out there that will help without this bothersome side effect.

Anorgasmia (inability to orgasm) was the only symptom I had. No weight gain. Actually in addition to the anorgasmia, I had no sex drive, and no drive to be physically "close" to anyone (hugs, etc). I ended up going off because I felt that I could but I got MAJOR headaches despite the fact that I tapered off VERY slowly.

I was on Celexa for about 5 weeks for panic attacks and anxiety but wasn't getting much better. My doctor switched me to Zoloft, I was on it about 10 days but I decided to discontinue it yesterday because it was causing extreme drowsiness, horrific headaches, weird crying spouts, and more anxiousness. Today, the first day being off Zoloft is harsh, I was in bed half the day and I feel like I'm in a dream and the headache is still there. Although , its about 630pm now and I feel a little better than earlier but not much. Hopefully tomorrow will be better? I'm also on Ativan.

I take Zoloft for depression and Anxiety. I was increased to 200mg about 1 month ago. Recently, I have been having headaches (pressure behind eyes) and at the base of my skull, along with shakiness and diarrhea. Is this caused by the increase in Zoloft?

I started on zoloft about 11-2006 i started of on 50mg and was increased to 200mg daily, it's been able 8months the side effects that I have had weight gain, skin rashes, nightmares. Then 8 months on all of a sudden i started getting moody, verbalily an physicalily aggressive, snappy, unable to think clearly, remembering normal things like names, loosing things, no time for anyone or thing, no focus on things being said, zoning out of my mental alertness, nerves always on edge, headaches, sleepy, a sense of fear, depression. Coming off zoloft just heightened the side effects. I was placed on zoloft due to PTSD and major drepression.

Been on Zoloft for 7 years - from 100mg and now 200mg daily for depression and mild anxiety. I have terrible headaches when I miss two days or more (my fault, of course!). I also found that my depression and mood swings were TERRIBLE when I first tried birth control pills (as someone else mentioned). However, different BC pills will have different effects and I have now found that Lo-Ovral is a a good match for me (after my Dr increased my Zoloft daily intake by 50 mg).

ATTENTION: if you are on birth control pills and having awful side effects with zoloft it could be the bcpills. I have been on 4 anti depressants in the last year and had difficult problems with all of them especially zoloft. I had diarhea and constipation, I had break through bleeding, irregular periods, and increased anxiety, depression, mood swings, panic attacks, separation anxiety, and awful headaches. Please. I have been to doctors who diagnoised me with IBS, ovarian cysts, depression, ADD, and OCD. I might have tendency towards all of these, but listen I am not this person, I have been off the bcp andn I am feeling better. Dont ignore this warning if I only could have had it!

My mom,77 who has ALS was but on Zoloft for depression. I really need to get her off of it FAST! She was at 1ml for one week. I called the doc because she was having nausea. He wanted to try it one more week. She went to 2ml last monday after one week. Fri,Sat, and today she is having terrible headaches. I read all the replies on this sight yesterday for side effect. I told her about the zapping pains and she said yes, that is the kind of pain in my head. It will not let up. I took her back to 1ml last night. What happens if I take her clear off? Can the side effects be any worse than the constant pain she is having in her head? It is 2 weeks today that she is on the drug. Do I wean her or just stop now? PLEASE Help!!

I have been on zoloft for about 10 weeks. I had alot of "neurological" side effects...tingling hands and feet; muscle tension in arms and legs; numbness in hands feet and face. I hated it. I didn't have any of the "normal" side effects i.e. diarrhea, dry mouth, sexual side effect. I had the stranger ones. I've been off of zoloft for 10 days and the withdrawal is uncomfortable. I had brain zaps, dizziness, general flu-like feelings, headaches. Now starting with muscle tension in arms again...does any one know when this will end?!?!?

I have been on Zoloft for 6 weeks and love it! I feel so much more in control of my reactions and emotions! I feel like I am in control now when I deal with my son. However, a few side effects that I have noticed, loose bowel movements, a few headaches and times of extreme drowsiness. But, the most bothersome side effect to me is HEARTBURN! AGH! I have never experienced heartburn like this other than when I was pregnant. Is that normal? Will it go away?

The first time I was put on zoloft I had diarrhea constantly. I would go out to eat at a restaurant and before I had even left the restaurant, the entire dinner had already passed through me - mostly undigested. I couldn't sleep, but I had tons of energy. This went on for months, and I lost 30 lbs. Along with a lot of hair. I don't remember whether or not I was as twitchy before I started taking zoloft. I've had bad dry mouth, but I've found that Biotene toothpaste and mouthwash help out with that very much. The odd thing is, I had to stop taking zoloft because I changed jobs and couldn't afford it without insurance. Now that I'm back on it, my side effects are completely different. I have major headaches, fatigue, I can sleep all day, and I can't concentrate to save my life. I haven't had any diarrhea, in fact I feel constipated, and hungry. I'm gaining weight instead of losing...?

I've been on Zoloft for three weeks now. I'm taking 50mg per day.
Mainly sexual side effects. It takes much effort to become
erect and I've had one orgasm in two weeks and it was a struggle and not enjoyable.
In the beginning, I had headaches, fogginess, tininitus, and overactive sexually for a week which disturbed me. I was unable to concentrate at work. I also sweated off and on for a couple of days and then felt feverish with chills. After a week, all of those side effects went away and now it is just the sexual side effects. I am supposed to see the doctor next week.
The positive note is that Zoloft has done wonders for me already. I feel great. I sleep through the night, wake up in the mornings ready for the day... and my mind usually races through several thoughts at once. I'm able to concentrate now.

I have been taking zoloft for 1 week , now starting on 50 mg. It is helping me feel so much better already. I wish I had went to the DR sooner for my depression, because it really works. I can tolerate a few side effects, loss of appetite, weird dreams, and a few headaches to overcome the depression .

I've been taking zoloft for 2 months. Started out at 25mg, then uppped it to 50mg. The first couple weeks I experienced shakiness, headaches, muscle twitching and vivid dreams. MOST OF THE SIDE EFFECTS WENT AWAY AFTER 2 WEEKS. The side effects I still feel are the jaw tension. Also I started to have spotting between my periods which I've never had before. Has anyone else experienced spotting?
Overall it has helped eliminate the panic attacks but I still have a overall sense of anxiety.

I have been on this dug a month an a half..
I have headaches, temors, and bleeding during intercourse,
and spotting off and on, less sexual drive and an unreachable
orgaism.. I have had a few terrorable dreams, feel sleepy on and off during the day and have trouble sleeping at night. the only thing I can say good is I don't cry at all.. I have no feelings of sorrow and nothing at all bothers me. I feel like I should go off this drug the side effects are worse than my small problems..

I was put on Zoloft for treatment of depression and anxiety due to an immense of stress in my personal life. At the beginning I was experiencing headaches, jaw tension, diarrhea and weird dreams. This was 2 months ago. Now I still have intense, vivid dreams, but there not bad dreams, so I don't mind that at all!! I have had NO loss of my sex drive, which a friend said I would, give it time. Thankfully, they were wrong!! I plan on being on Zoloft for 6 months, sbut so far I've seen a big change in both my attitude and emotions. BUT I also am following up with therapy, which is helping a lot too. I don't feel bad or helpless anymore about being on Zoloft or that i have had some personal issues that I needed help with. Now that I'm starting to see I wasn't the bad person in my problems, I realize that the Zoloft helped "clear my head" and helped me to start to become me again.

i started on 25mg/day for first week. worst side effect was severe jaw tension which caused headaches and insomnia, also slight nausea and weird skin sensations (very much like coming down from acid/e). went up to 50mg for month or so, then 75mg, now on 100mg - this seems to be the right dose for me at the moment. planning to go back to 50mg in about a year. side effects seem to last for a week after changing dose. but the very first week was worst. i noticed benefits after about two weeks. i was really worried that i would feel zombied and have no libido - not the case at all. thats what i was like before cause i was so depressed. very glad i started on small dose, and changed gradually, i can imagine doing otherwise would suck big time. my most important message - ZOLOFT IS ONLY PART OF MY TREATMENT. my doctor helped to develop a treatment plan which involves yoga, affirmations, identifying negative thoughts and behaviours and changing them, seeking help from other sources (university counsellor), eating well, maintaining more regular sleeping patterns, getting out in sunlight and fresh air etc. if your doctor won't help you with this, or doesn't care about your side effects, or whether you're on the right dose - FIND ANOTHER DOCTOR!! there are also good websites like depressionnet, beyondblue and anu.edu.au/moodgym

I love Zoloft as far as helping depression and anxiety. I do notice side effects which are headaches daily, insomnia, and weight gain. I take other anxiety drugs in addition, so I'm not sure where the side effects come from. The weight gain is really upsetting me and the headaches. I take 150 mg. daily of zoloft. Are the above side effects related to zoloft?

weight gain; tempomandibular tension; lethargy (but may just be my chronic fatigue??); my headache pattern has gone skyhigh!!! Help! My insurance won't pay for my Prozac; the generic makes me sick to my stomach, and so now my "relief" is Zoloft. I even went off birth control thinking that was making my headaches worse and causing the weight gain; and then I took a pregnancy test...none of the above...
