Need to Wean Off Singulair or Not???
Posted over a year ago
My 10 year old son has been taking Singulair for 4 years now. Over the past year we have noticed a huge difference in his emotional state. Now that the new study has come out on this drug I need to know if I need to wean him off of it or can he just stop taking it right away?? Please help ASAP!!!!
Millenka - I believe you can just stop taking this drug. But to be on the safe side it's always best to check with your doctor.
Jackie5842 - My 3 children-ages 17, 10, and 7-are all asthmatic and hae been on singulair for years. While it has controlled their asthma, I have certainly seen an enormous chnage in all of their behaviors. My oldest son had a suicide attempt a couple of years ago and ended up in a psych ward. My younger son has gotten increasingly more anxious-so much so that he wont enter a room unless I go in it first. My daughter, the youngest, has severe mood swings and is very irritable. I am shocked that I was never told that suicidal tendencies/depression./anxiety/and extreme irritability wee possible side effects of this medication. I am stopping it for all three of my kids TODAY. I have them all on mucinex to break up phlegm and God willing that wont cause any hideous side effects.
Blackcoffey - So how did your children do when you took them off Singulair ??
Did they have withdrawal ? Did you go cold turkey ?
I have just learned of these links and don't know how to wean him
