Sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim Low Grade Fever, Itchy Bumps, Puncture Wound, Benadryl, Trimethoprim

Prescribed sulfameth/trimethoprim for blood poising after a puncture wound on my hand. It was supposed to be a 10 day course. Right away I had insomnia, headache for days, I felt uncharacteristically anxious and depressed, numbness and tingling in my hands and feet, redness, bumps, and itching on my hand and arm in the area of the blood poisoning. Today, 6 days into the course, I went back to the doctor with extream fatigue, a low grade fever, and I am red all over and getting redder and hot! The doctor suspected allergic reaction and had me discontinue the medicine. Also I am going to drink lots of fluids and take benadryl tonight when I go to sleep. It is 8:30 p.m. and in the last hour my red body is developing little itchy bumps all over. But, I am so happy to have found this website and find out that I am not alone. I will be calling my doctor in the morning and referring her to this site. Maybe it will help others like it helped me. It will get better! Good luck to you all!
