Sulfamethoxazole-trimethoprim Anaphalactic, Lunch Time, Trimethoprim, Uti, Rash
I was prescribed Trimethoprim for a UTI and within 24 hours broke out in a huge rash which covered my entire body. I went to A&E and took some piriton and the next morning it seemed to have calmed down. That next evening I was relaxing when I felt my neck and face flush and my lips start to swell up and I immediately called an ambulance who took me straight to A&E. They gave me the steroids and lots of anti allergens and the next day I was much better until lunch time when the rash broke out with avengence again and spread to my lips and tongue.
I'm still experiencing this same pattern a week on and am just praying that it will go away soon.
A&E told me that they've seen quite a few Trimethoprim allergies and the doctor said she wouldn't let her daughter take it because of the particularly nasty and long running reaction it gives.
