I take 25mg of Toprol XL for mitral valve prolapse. The only thing is I feel tired like I could fall asleep all the time. Is this common with this medicine on such a small dose. My doctor said this small dose shouldn't bother me. Anyone else take this dose and feel tired?
Shell07 - I take half of a 25 mg and I feel tired alot. I started on 25 and couldn't tolerate that. If you don't mind me asking do you have High Bp too. If not does the toprol effect your BP and heart rate I guess what I'm asking is if they go to low? That was my problem on the 25 my BP went to low and I fainted. Now even on the 12.5 there are days my BP is low and my heart rate is in the mid 50's. I am a 35 year old female. I take this for innapropriate sinus tachycardia. My doctor tells me the same thing that I am such a low dose it shouldn't bother me... But I feel as though it does. I am just curious if other people who take it and if they have normal BP and heart rate if it effects that??

John5527 - No, I don't have high BP. I think that is part of why I am tired and get dizzy at times after sitting. My pulse is usually around 47. I take the Toprol to help with MVP and chestpains.
Shell07 - Yes that could be. Pulse of 47- is that after you take your toprol? are you an athlete? I know some athletes have lower pulses. I am not so I know that mine is from the toprol. If you don't mind me asking your age? I am curious as I feel young to be on this. Do you ever check your BP?
John5527 - Yes, I am a recreational runner. So that is probably why my pulse is so low to begin with. I started taking Toprol when I was around 30 so I know what you mean about taking blood pressure medicine at a young age. My doctor said more than likely that I would be on it the rest of my life to control the symptoms. My blood pressure is always normal when I check it at home.
Sharitursi - I have been on Toprol for 3 months now for occasional A-Fib -- had to reduce it from 25 mg to 12.5 due to dizziness. I am soooooooooooooo tired all the time and was also told the dosage is too low for that. Not sure what to do.
