My mother-in-law (88) is in assisted living but, takes her own meds. She is on Toprol XL 50mg 2 x day (am/pm). She insist that she needs it to keep her BP up because her BP drops so low. I have tried to talk with her about this and explain it is for high BP, and if her BP is low she should not be taking this med. I have ask her to talke with the doctor about this and she saids, "he gave it to me...so he should know". My husband isn't much help (as most men/excuse me guys). He says his mother's mind is sharp and she knows what she is talking about. DOES THIS SOUND RIGHT?? Assisted living took her BP yesterday and she said they told her it was 88/44 and she was fine!
