Effects of Having Had Versed for a Colonoscopy
Posted over a year ago
I had a colonoscopy about a week ago. I was not told anything about the drug other than it would help you tolerate the pain. I am now consumed with the drug and what it really does- which from what I understand is to decrease the cerebral blod flow to the left prefrontal cortex. Can this be a side effect of this drug.
Daisy4 - I was given Versed two months ago for a colonoscopy, and was not told what it would do either. I thought I would be given something just to relax, but Versed actually causes amnesia. Most doctors won't tell you that, but for some patients (myself included), that is extremely disturbing. I was severly depressed, angry, and obsessed about it for weeks afterward. Even now, I have a fear & mistrust of doctors soley because of my experience. I feel patients have a right to know what the drug really does.
Meljane - Do you know how versed causes amnesia? It depresses the blood to the left frontal lobe of the brain. How is that for a downer
