I have been on Bupropion, 150 mg am and pm, for 6 weeks. It successfully mitigated the moderate to severe depression that was debilitating. Side effects are morning headache that seems to be associated with tightness in neck and shoulders, nausea even though taken with food, stomach pains, irritability, severe finger joint and wrist pain, and the urge to urinate constantly, but difficulty urinating. I have to get up 4-10 times a night, and also visit the bathroom throughout the day.
I am going to ask my nurse practitioner to make the second dose 100 instead of 150, as at that dosage, the side effects seemed to be less. She does not at all seem to acknowledge any side effects. When I told her about the urine issue, which only started when I started the Bupropion, she listed a bunch of causes that sounded quite dire. Same with the muscle and joint pain. The irritability part impacts my life, as I started picking at my husband, my biggest supporter. The urinary part concerns me, because I live half the year in NYC, where there are few public restrooms. Here in my own home, it's just annoying.
The joint and hand pain is the worst, because I make my living on a keyboard, teaching on-line and freelance writing. My finger tips feel as if they are burning, as do my wrists. The joints of each finger hurt. This is only when I'm keyboarding or other tasks that require wrist action, so perhaps the med is exacerbating already-deteriorating joints or muscles.
Best to everyone.
