Withdrawal Symptoms When Stopping 150mg After Only 3 Weeks on It.

I was being weened from Effexor XR, 75mg daily. My dosage was reduced to 37.5mg for two weeks along with taking 150mg of Wellbutrin. I am now five days into only Wellbutrin, but would like to stop taking it altogether. I have had severe withdrawal symptoms from the Effexor XR, and they are worse now. Cannot tell if they are from the Effexor XR withdrawal or if I am having a reaction from taking the Wellbutrin. ... more »

What kind of withdrawals will I experience if I just stop the Wellbutrin after taking it for only two and a half weeks?

789moomin - Wellbutrin needs to be tapered very slowly. One of the (rare) side effects of Wellbutrin is seizures -- it's best to stop taking it slowly, no matter how long you have been on it, in case you have some kind of adverse reaction. I was taking 450mg daily and started lowing the dose 8 months ago. I now take 250mg daily and it will take me another 5 months probably to come off it entirely. From past experience coming off these kind of meds, it's the only way for me personally -- I think it 'tricks' the brain into not realizing the medication is being withdrawn, because it's so slow. These are powerful drugs. I can't wait to be off it entirely -- but I know I have to be patient. Hope this helps.
