very bad migraines.Much worse than usual since i began taking the Advair.Does anyone know what is the alternative for chronic mild asthma ? I take the lowest dose 100/50..kind regards, Catriona
Propsguy - first of all, see if you can get by taking the lowest does only once a day, instead of twice. that would be a good first step. next, learn Buteyko breathing techniques. you can get a book on it or find a practitioner to teach you. this will take a while, but it does work.
as you build up your breathing, you can cut the advair down to once every other day, every third day, etc until you are off it for good.
make sure to cut out all chemicals from your diet- pretty much eliminate all processed or industrially made foods. food colorings, preservatives, pesticide residues can all build up and provoke asthma.
take yoga. like Buteyko, it is all about controlling your breath.
just for inspiration, i'll tell you a little story. both my father and i were on advair for about 8 years (he has been on various asthma medications for the past 40 years). i took the lowest does only once a day but it still caused great loss of hair, cracking teeth, a gravelly throat and complete loss of sense of smell. i could not go anywhere without a box of tissues.
in my father's case, he lost his fine singing voice and had to quit his various choirs.
1 1/2 yrs ago, we both stopped taking advair. my hair stopped falling out, my sinuses are clear and i might go days without having to blow my nose. my throat is not gravelly and i can smell things again (a mixed blessing to be sure!).
my father's singing voice has come back and at 86 years old, he is singing a solo every weekend in his church. the congregation there, which has never heard him sing, is amazed by the force of his clear operatic baritone.
as his daughter, i am overjoyed to hear the voice i loved as a child and so happy that he can enjoy, once more in his old age, his music. that alone should keep him around and vigorous for many years to come!
Culloden13 - Thank you for your help i appreciate it very much and will take your advice God bless ,Catriona
