Mike_w - Dear Tina
Augmentin is an antibiotic that inhibits growth of some bacteria that are resistant to Penicillin. These bacteria produce Beta-lactamases . enzymes that can break a common element in thei molecular structure of Penicillin: a four-atom ring known as a beta-lactam.
