I recently went to urgent care because I was having very bad chest pains. While at the uc, I was diagnosed with bronchitis and was given a prescription for the 5 day dose pack of azithromycin. After taking the first dose of this medication, I began to feel very itchy in the face especially around the eyes and nose area as well as feelings of my throat getting very sore and I also had a lack of energy. Not really connecting the reaction of my symptoms to the medication, I took another dose the next day. About an hour after taking the second dose I began itching on my arms and hands along with my throat getting worse and my energy level decreasing even more. I went to see my regular doctor on this same day and informed them of my condition and side effects to this medication, but nothing was done. So the next day I went back to uc to inform them of what was going on with me and they prompted me to stop taking the medication because I was having an allergic reaction to the medication. It has been 1 1/2 weeks since I've been off this medication and I am still very itchy and still have hives developing on my body. Guinny Pig no more, not me! I vote highly against Azithromycin and its counterpart Levaquin. Two of the worse antibiotics on the pharmaceutical market.
