Cipro Azo Test Strips, Blood Pressure Machine, Mosquito Bite, Scrpit, Epi Pen
Went to the dr. for a suspected UTI. I've never had one before. I bought the AZO test strips. They didn't come out as "negative" but also not as "positive". So I thought the test at the doctor's would be better. ... Their results also came out as "inconclusive". *sigh* So they sent that off to the lab..I'm still waiting for them to call. ... more »

The nurse practitioner prescribed me Cipro, 2 pills a day, for 3 days..based on my symptoms. [Which since yesterday morning, have now turned into the ol' "hurts when I pee thing"..and I didn't know that loss of appetite was one also..doh.] Anyways, long story short.. Not 10 mins. after taking one pill yesterday morning, I break out in itchy red hives.. My throat felt a -little- tight. The first one I had on my face, which I thought was a mosquito bite.. Looked exactly the same as when I get bit, I get a big, red welt. Then I started itching all over..even the bottom of my feet! So I'm freaking out & get a ride back down to the doctor's office.
They see me right away & check me out, hook me up to a blood pressure machine & I show them the redness everywhere. A few minutes later a nurse comes in with a shot of epinephrine, which started to help..then I get a shot of Benadryl about 30 mins. later or so. They had laying down in a room the whole time, just chilling.. That fixed it. It went away really quickly, with both shots. I was back to normal & outa there within an hour or so.
One of the doctors there came back in with a 'scrpit for Bactrim [I just took my first one about 20 mins. ago & am still VERY NERVOUS about it], Benadryl [which I already have here], & one for the Epi Pen shot [which I couldn't afford & didn't get because it was $160.]
