Had horrible pain down the right buttock all the way to my ankle an foot area. In Feb-2010 was given oral steroids (Prednisone), didn't work, went back to doctor, they did an MRI, herniated disk, they decided to do epidural steroid injections in April, they did the first set which consisted of two injections, one into the disk and one in the lumbar region. It worked for two weeks. I was scheduled for another set of injections a month later, but because the pain came back so severe they went a head and did a set of three injections into the same area in April. It worked for five hours and then I was back in severe pain. A week an half later I had surgery on May 1st. The disk had ruptured and was compressing on my nerve. Once out of surgery my face was extremely swollen. My cheeks never went down and three weeks later my cheeks and throat area are swollen and puffy looking I have blisters in my mouth and no one can definitely tell me whats wrong or how long I'm going to stay this way. I don't even recognize myself. The surgery was a success, I feel no sever pain....but Im freaking out about the swelling of my face. It could have been caused by the steroids is the only real logical answer Im getting.
