Just wanted to give an update on how I feel after coming off of Doxcycycline 100 mg once a day for acne 4 months. Honestly I feel a lot better not taking the medication and leaning towards a more holistic approach to dealing with my acne. It does take time for your body to adjust I did a fast for a week to try and cleanse my body of toxins and help purge the antibiotic from my system. My acne is getting better it's actually better than when I was taking Doxcy to control it, I had acne on my face, chest, and back in my case it didn't flare up in chest and back areas which I had acne prior to taking the medication.( FYI they say stopping the medication abruptly will cause severe flare ups this did not happen to me my condidtion was the same as it was after continuously taking the meds my chest and back were fine no flare up in that area.) However my face was a different story the acne never cleared up during treatment and when I stopped taking Doxy I had flares that would come and go but I controlled it with Differin and Benzyclin I experienced severe dryness but I can deal with that opposed to the other symptoms. I'ts been about 5months since I stopped taking the meds I still get a break out every now and then on my face but not as bad while I was taking Doxy and I no longer have the symptoms that I had while using the medication which I mentioned in an earlier post. So in all honestly even though my skin is not perfectly clear and it requires more maintenance and attention to keep my acne under control it is well worth freeing my body from the use of Doxcycyline and the other symptoms I acquired during my treatment. There is hope and please do not let them scare you by saying your acne will get worse if you stop taking it to control acne I found out the hard way and from others if it wasn't that effective in controlling it than it can't get much worse when you stop using it good luck to everyone else trying to cleanse their body of the antibiotic it is well worth it and know there are alternatives to help control the acne personally the face creams and a healthy diet and cleansing are working a lot better for me and there are hardly any bad side effects.
