Antibiotics do not work on fungal infections. Burows solution (aka Domboro Otic) is non-ototoxic and works on BOTH kinds of infections.
I learned about all this the hard way- I had a bad reaction to the antibiotic I was prescribed. I was switched to Burow's solution and it did the trick. I also used silocone ear plugs when I showered as it helps to keep the canal free of water.
I wish I ould have know about this simple safe solution as here I sit a month and a half later after the antibiotic reaction not knowing if I have been permanently damaged from it.
I was initially prescribed a Z Pack (aka Zithromax and Azithromycin). I experienced a vestibulotoxic reaction which adversely effect my vestibular balance mechanisms.
Ototoxic medications are no joke people- losing you balance and effects to your vision from these drugs can srew your life up permanently- so why not take the safe route and ask your doctor for Burows Solution (aka Domboro Otic) instead of an antibiotic.
Baucsh & Lomb makes the Burows solution I was prescibed. Wish someone ould have warned me. :(
