Gardasil and Depression
Posted over a year ago
Is there a probable link between my 18 year old daughter's depression and the Gardasil shots she was given this past year?
Bellaxdawn - yeah i have heard the same thing. i am 22 years old and i would never get this shot. there have been cases where the woman actually got cancer. :( i would get your daughter checked out at another physician for a second opinion
Truthaboutgardasil - I would think so. Personality changes is def one of the side effects, and depression is absolutely a personality change.
Guidance Counselor - My daughter is being treated for severe anxiety, panic attacks and depression following her first gardasil shot. She is my easy going and laid back kid. After receiving the first shot in July 2012 she had two bizarre episodes where she was afraid to go somewhere without us...she is sixteen and NEVER acted this way before. Then Ion October she had a horrible period....vomiting and passing blood clots the size of golf balls. She then QUICKLY spiraled into a horrible depression...vomiting everyday with panic attacks. She kept asking us "what is wrong with me. What happened to me mom. Can you get it to stop?" There were absolutely no triggers to set my daughter into this terrible change in her mood. She had to take xanax, a short acting anti-anxiety med., to function each day while we waited for the anti-depressant to build up in her system. She is now on antidepressants and beginning to feel like herself although she still has episodes of anxiety. She WILL NOT get the rest of the shots for Gardasil. I still have to file a reaction complaint with the appropriate agency. I regret my older daughter got the shots and my son absolutely will not get it. I did not know all the facts on cervical cancer when I agreed to this. Do your own research and talk to your kids about their anticipated sexual behavior and getting pap smears on a regular basis. There are other and effective ways of beating cervical cancer without hurting your child's life. I continue to worry about my daughter and wonder if she will be able to live a life off of antidepressants. This has been a hellish five months.
