Geodon Brain Zaps, Leg Spasms, Cold Flashes, Nausea, Flu
Posted over a year ago
I was taking 40mg of geodon twice a day. The doctor is weaning me off.
So, he said to stop taking my evening dose. Well, I did for two nights and couldn't sleep. I was really jumpy, leg spasms, couldn't sleep, hot and cold flashes, trembling, nausea. It was like having the flu really bad. I also had a couple brain zaps. I wish I never would have started geodon. It's awful.
Jnnt1391 - I've been taking Geodon for about 9 months and am being weaned off too. I went from 3 40mg tablets down to two and now down to one. I have a little trouble sleeping too and get jittery before I take the single dose. I would say try taking the dose in the evening to help you sleep. And hang in there. I can't wait to get off of it too.
Cherrieblsm - I just recently started taking geodon. About a week ago. I couldn't handle what it did to me. I am a single mom so it was totally a bad idea to put me on something like that. I will never take anything like that again. I pretty much quit cold turkey. Couldn't sleep at all the first night and vomiting all morning. I hate the drug. I wish I wouldn't have ever started taking it. The side effects are horrible and the withdrawal isn't any fun. I can't wait to be "normal" again. I hope this stuff gets out of my system too. I also have experienced extreme jaw clenching and dilated pupils throughout the day. The worst part is the vomiting and not sleeping and the flashes of hot and cold and the tremors. Woohoo to this hopefully being over soon
Bdjunk - Have been on Geodon for abot 4 months now and i'm starting to get these very fast and short"electric shocks" to my head. It feels as if i put my hand in the socket and being hit in the neck with a baseball bat at the same time. It's so powerful that my body accually jumps about 6". Some minor side effects like jaw clenching and grinding. My docs on vaction and i'm quite scared of the next attack, anyone know what going on?
Lisahains - my daughter has been on geodon for a couple of years...combined with wellbutrin. it handles the mood swings pretty good but she is starting to have significant problems with pupil dialtion.....and....if she does not take the 160 mg prescribed of geodon on time....boy oh boy....the mood fluctuation. she has been on many drugs in the past....abilify,lamictil, zoloft, topamax, gabitril, carbatrol, tegretol, and some others that i cannot remember. but no combination seems to be as good as wellbutrin in the am and afternoon, and geodon at six at night. wish there werent these side effects. she also had the tongue twisting from the geodon, which is now being controlled by cogentin. just wish it all could just go away!!!! but nonetheless, it is what it is. i remember when she was first put on carbatrol for the onset of a seizure disorder. once the seizures ceased, she had been taking topamax....she was weaned off the topamax, and that is when her mood swings were unbearable. this is when she started seeing a psychiatrist to prescribe the topamax again. the topamax, after several years began to affect her vision. She got bifocals at age sixteen. wish there was a natural remedy for these significant mood fluctuations. any advice
