I get headaches almost everyday if not then 4-6 times a week, I have since I was 12 years old and I am now 20 years old.. sometimes they are really really bad, other times they're just bad. nothing works for them. i've tried advil, tylenol, ibuprofen, asetameniphen (sp?), and more. it's to the point now where i'm so used to the pain of a normal feeling headache that those don't bother me at all anymore but the bad ones seem to just get worse as i get older. does anyone have any idea what might work? and i have gone to my doctor... she didn't help. she told me to figure out what they're from. they're random.
Christina0153 - First, find out what kind of headaches you are experiencing. You could have tension headaches, migraines, cluster headaches, headaches caused by bone spurs in the neck, etc. There are medications specific for particular types of headaches that work for most people. Food allergies can also be a culprit for chronic headaches. Go to a different doctor and get worked up. I did, and it was worth every penny I spent. Good luck, Chris
Jb4boys - I too had headaches almost every day. Started going to a chiropractor/acupunturist in Dec. 06 - do not have them any more - took about 4-5 months. Drink lots of water starting as soon as you get up. See if you can find someone in your area that is a NAET practioner. Look this up on the web: www.naet.com - I started eliminating food allergies first, then mold, mildew, weed, etc. NO MEDICATIONS - all natural.

Michetjx - I had head aches like that all my life until I went thru menopause... the worse ones seemed to be related to my cycle - either at ovulation then again when I was having my period. The best working over the counter medicine for me was excederine - it didn't really cure the head ache, but it took the edge off.....
Nograffiti2007 - I'm 48, same symptons as you, headaches all my life. I have had several CT scans, etc...finally one day my doctor prescribed Lexapro because I was experiencing depression and the headaches stopped in about a week after being on Lexapro. I have been on it now for 5 years, still works, but not as well as it used to. I do have a headache now about twice a week, but it is better than everyday and the migranes have subsided a lot. Best of luck to you, but I would highly recommend trying Lexapro, it might work for you too.
Neagreenhaw - My granddaughter, age 8, was having severe migraine headaches, missed almost 3 months of school and had no social life. She was finally diagnosed with Celiac Disease and as long as she stays on a wheat free/gluten free diet, has none. If she gets even a minute amount accidentally, she is back on the sofa or in bed with a headache. She had some other problems, too, including severe osteoporosis with fracturing, that have either disappeared or are extremely better since being on the diet. She had shown none of the classic gastro symptoms associated with Celiac. Check with a GI doctor that is familiar with Celiac, as it is very difficult to diagnose. Food allergies can cause serious problems.

Robin43 - There are a ton of reasons you could be having headaches.....just what you wanted to hear, right? lol I got my first one at age 13 or so. I have migraines....every day if I don't take preventive meds. I went to my family doc first. They ran tests....all kids.....allergy,CT,MRI, you name it....to rule out all kinds of things....like other people have stated in previous posts. Then I was diagnosed with migraines based on where my head hurt and how my head started to hurt and what made my head hurt....cigarettes, perfume,humidity, for example. Yes, I'm basically a mess. lol I'm 43 and on lots of meds and STILL get a few here and there and have Zomig as my saving drug to get rid of my pain when I get a bad one. So, go see your family doc....with a list of when you got your headaches,where it started,if you got some kind of warning it was coming (aura) and what triggered them,if you know that....for about a month...you'll need that.....Good luck!
Annemarieb - Try lying down in a dark room with a cold compress on your head where the pain is worse. If this helps, you may have migraines.
There are medicines to take at the onset of migraines to prevent them from worsening, but these meds make your blood vessels contract, which was dangerous for me. But they help others. I stick with the darkness and cool compresses.

Kimmiller112 - I have had chronic aura and cluster migraines for more than 5 years. I have tried several migraine medications that did nothing for them. My last doctor wanted to send me to a specialist to do an MRI and to put me on a medication that I would have to take 5 times a day everyday. Instead, now I get kelation therapy, which gets rid of heavy metals and toxins from my body. I've been doing it for a year, once a month, and I haven't gotten a severe migraine since, only 2 slight ones. I highly recommend kelation. It has helped me greatly!
Dwhite - Have you seen a Neurologist? I mean.. A really good one... Dr. Pamela Blake, formerly the Director of Georgetown Univ. Neurology. Lucky for me, she now resides in Houston, Tx. She is compassionate and will try to get to the source of the Headache or pain. I speant many years, being diagnosed as having "Migraines", trying all kind of Migraine meds. to experience little or no relief, going to the ER,etc. The term Migraine is such a loose term. She diagnosed me with Occipital Neuralgia/Cervicogenic Headaches.I'm 42 yrs old and in a state of debilitating pain!! My family needs me to be Functional again. I've never spoken out for a cause, so it's my turn to promote more awareness for Occipital Neuralgia, generate funding for further research so Insurance will cover the non-invasive surgery to decompress the occipital nerve that I need. I wish a prayer for you that the quality of your Life will be improved; you're so young, but have alot to live for, keep searching for answers. Sincerely, To Be Rid of Headaches and Pain Free, D.W
