Lipitor Liver Enzymes, Heart Arrythmia, Diaphoresis, Palpitations, Emergency Department
Posted over a year ago
I had a small stroke associated with weightlifting--my neurologist put me on lipitor 80 mg (despite the fact that my cholesterol was totally normal)--now about 3 months later my liver enzymes have doubled and I have developed a heart arrhythmia I never had before. I have had to go to the emergency department twice from palpitations and diaphoresis
Ruralex - I hope you are not going to that neurologist anymore. 80 mg with normal cholesterol!!! Is he insane??????? I hope you have quit taking the statin. Start taking COQ10 and L-Carnitine. Sometimes magnesium helps with arrythmias. Try to find a naturopath or holistic doctor. You might want to visit SpaceDoc.com. Good website for advice on statin damage. Good luck.
777 - This dangerous drug can cause MANY side effects. I stopped taking it "cold turkey" and I still have side effects. I am taking numerous natural products to help it. Don't let your dr. to con you. In reality, your mind/boy needs cholesterol to function properly. The drs. and the drug co's are doing a huge SCAM . . . . it is all about big $$$ and many people siffer.
Bobby - We ALL must understand that in the sales game, its the job of the drug reps to get as many people on these drugs as possible and keep them on them for as long as posssible. WHY? Because its their livelyhood! They want to make lots of money, and more money. They don't care if you suffer the side effects. Its THEIR PAYCHECK that counts here. NOT the patient.
Martinmagini - it just occurs to me that my irregular heartbeat started about the time they put me on Lipitor. Recently my doctor cut my dose in half and the palpitations went away. Today she told me to stop taking Lipitor altogether because liver enzymes are bad. I am so hoping to feel better in a few days. I have had weight gain, swollen fingers, and other problems. I just never realized it might be the Lipitor causing them!
