I am a 56 year old Minister of Music. I have been battling with my voice for over 2 years. In fact, 2 years ago I went to an ENT, had a scope, and a week of voice rest and found no vocal nodules. He said, "I see a little mucous. Take Mucinex -D." My voice has been in and out for two years. I haven't sung at my church since February. I have been on Lisinopril for over 5 years. I have no side effects like what I've read on this site. My wife had the Lisinopril cough and it went away once she quit taking it. I do NOT have a lot of drainage or mucous. But over the past 5 years my voice has slowly deteriorated (not from over singing or screaming) and today I sound like a really old man. I can't sing, I can barely talk. I can hardly be understood in line at a fast food place. I have no falsetto. I believe my condition is one of the rare side effects of Lisinopril - namely hoarseness. I am setting an appointment with my doctor to get me into another class of drugs.
