I was put on Lisinopril just before having a total knee replacement to get my blood pressue down for the op. I started almost straight afterwards with a cough which got so bad I was actually sick. Not good when you can't get to the loo quickly on crutches!
After 6 weeks I went to my doctor who said that I should only worry after I'd had it for 10 weeks. I went back after 10 weeks and he gave me some medicine which of course didn't work.
I then started to worry as I knew it couldn't be right and began to wonder if it had something to do with a side effect of my tablets (before I worried about lung cancer!). I think most of us don't read the instructions that come with our medications do we? Sure enough, there was a 'common side effect' listed as a cough.
I went straight onto the Internet and found this forum and others all with the same worries.
Next day I was at the Doctor's surgery, explained my worries to a different doctor and straight away, he agreed it was a side effect and put me on different tablets.
I had a long time of really bad coughing, BUT had I read the instructions with my tablets, I would have ben aware that that was something to look out for. And so, I'm guessing could the rest of you posting on here.
