I got a new doctor. I have had high BP managed with Catapres. She put me on Lisinopril. I told her I didn't want an ACE-inhibitor because of side effects. She told me only side effect was cough. I have 40 mg 'scrip. My blood pressure is out of control. my brother, a nurse was taking it and told me I should go to hospital. I called doctor's office and receptionist just told me to keep a log and bring it in next time. My numbers were 170/100, 151/94, 162/89, 171/106, 155/100, 200/121!, 162/101, 182/110, 152/103... I felt like my heart was pounding out of my chest. my breathing was shallow and quick. I had anxiety and insomnia. After a few weeks on it, every time I woke up a different part of my body had "gone to sleep". This is paresthesia. I discovered these are side effects of Lisinopril. I saw the doctor two days ago and I showed her my log. She wasn't alarmed. I confessed to taking catapres to lower my BP. I asked if my chest heaviness and breathing difficulties were side effects and she told me no. I had the pharmacy printout in my bag stating they were. I didn't show her. She thinks I was having panic attacks. I am afraid I'll have a heart attack on these pills. I quit taking them 2 days ago and I am relying on my old prescription Catapres, even if she told me it was the worst kind I could be taking.
