My birth control experience started with Ortho Tricyclen Low. I was on that for about a year and a half, but it completely killed my sex drive. So, I did some research on other pills and I found mostly good reviews for Loestrin 24. Obviously, I didn't see this site. I called up my gynecologist and asked the nurse how I would go about switching my pill. She asked me what I wanted and I said I had been looking into Loestrin 24. At the end of the month when I went to pick up my rx as usual, it was the Loestrin. I found it strange that they would just prescribe what I asked for rather than recommending something. Anyway, I started taking the new pill and what I love about it is that my periods last about two days and they're extremely light. I've never really had an acne issue other than one or two around the time when I get my period. That's been pretty consistent throughout both pills. However, I've been on Loestrin for about 4 months now and I've gained about 20 lbs since starting. Last may, after not having weighed myself for a very long time, I weighed in at 275. It scared the hell out of me because I hadn't even noticed a difference in myself. I started eating healthier and working out more and got down to 235 in about 4 months and stayed there for about 2. I now weigh about 256 and on this pill I've noticed I'm either hungry all the time or the thought of food makes me sick. It's one extreme or the other. I also have a problem with my adrenal gland that makes it harder for me to lose weight and easier for me to gain weight than a normal person. Even at 275, I was very active and ate pretty healthy. So between that issue and this stupid f-ing pill, half the weight I worked so hard to lose came back just as fast as I'd lost it. This sounds odd, but I'm a very compact person and a lot of my weight is muscle. I look as if I weigh about 185ish. No one, including myself, has seen a difference since I've gained these last 20 lbs, but I can feel a difference. This pill has helped reduce my self esteem to nothing. From what I've been told, if you gain weight on one pill, you should switch to a pill that has a lower estrogen level. Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.
