After the Brown Pills

It says that when you miss more that one pill your birth control becomes less effective.... what about after the first pack? When you finish the first pack, is the birth control still completely effective? In other words, after you complete the brown pills, is this birth control immediately completely effective with the first white pill of the next pack???
