Ringing in the Ears

My mom has been taking Lotrel for a while...Generic and Name brand...Now she has developed constant ringing in the ears. What should she do? Should she ask the doctor to change the dosage? Or should she take name brand only? mAlso, what ingredient in the Lotrel causes this ringing in the ears?
