Side Effects From Lovastatin

I have been taking Lovastatin to lower my cholesterol. After about a month of taking this medicine - I have developed congestion. I am seriously contested - nasal congestion, chest congestion, extremely dry mouth, sore throat, coughing, head ache, sneezing, itchy throat, watery eyes, shortness of breath etc. First, I didn't realize the cause for all these symptoms. I thought that I got sick - maybe it is an allergy - so, I was taking all nasal decongestant, mucus relief medicine- mucinex; allergy relief medicine, Advil etc but didn't see any improvement of the symptoms. Then I went to my GP - who also said that may it is an allergy - because that time of that date I was little bit better as I just took Advil and other medicine. So my doctor didn't see the severity of my symptoms. She just prescribed me antibiotic - augmentin for 10 days - one tablet twice a day and asked me to take Claritin and Advil. She also asked me to do gargle. I followed her advice - after a few days I noticed that I was not getting better. Then I figured out that it is not just simple allergy these all the symptoms are coming as side effects of Lovastain. I was confirmed as that day I got worse immediately after taking my dose of Lovastatin. Oh my god. I cannot believe - I am having such a terrible time. I don't know if I would get better once I stop taking the Lovastatin.
