I had my Mirena removed last Friday, May 2nd. My GYN scared me as he could nto find the strings, Then he went on to tell me a story about how this other ady came in and they had to get her into surgery to remove. The strings were too short and they could not pull it out. Well, he was in there pricking and prodding and all of sudden he had it stuck to his tweezer thingie. Well, I want you to know that I am not exaggerating when I tell you that the moment it came out, it was almost as if my uterus gave a sigh of relief! It was awesome! I could not believe that contraption was in there. I am very small in size so my GYN tells me that he does not doubt I have issues because my body is so small and the Mirena is a "one size fits all" sort of thing. he is very understanding but NOW he tell same this? he said the same thing as many GYNs do that it may not be the Mirena BUT he did acknowledge that he RESPECTS us because it is our body and we know it better than anyone ever could.
I did not bleed at all. No spotting either. My period was due to come around May 15th but it came 2 days later, on May 4th. hardly any cramping but lots of bloating. The body aches and fatigue are almost disappearing. I literally woke up refreshed the next day and slept thru the whole night too. No anxiety attacks at night since Mirena was taken out. I still have some fatigue but nothing like before. Just regular stuff. It feels great to get back to normal! I know it must be my period and my body adjusting, but my mood swings started up again yesterday. I always get like this though with a normal period. I just hope it stays normal. Can't wait til it is all out of my system.
We are actually thinking about a baby so I am preparing myself mentally, in case it happens. I have opted for no birth control, which my GYN was ecstatic about. He is dying for me to get pregnant! LOL! He is an awesome Doc. I can't complain. :)
Hope my posts have helped some of you. Like I said before, you know your bodies. Don't let things go on for so long. If it is affecting your relationships, especially with the mood swings, you have to make a decision. if you want to duke it out longer with the piece of plastic from Hades, then make sure you are mentally & emotionally ready for what is coming and to keep dealing with the horrendous side effects. I think i would rather deal with a pregnancy and 18 years of "fun" with a child than to lose my family and my sanity and my health.
Good Luck, Girls!
