Mirena Harsh Experiences, Pain Killers, Mood Swings, Mild Pain, Hospital Doctor
I'm sorry to hear mostly everyone went through such harsh experiences with Mirena.. I had mine removed Saturday at the hospital after experiencing some of the worst pain in my left side of my pelvic area that I've ever felt in my life.. After waiting in the waiting room for 6 hours, I finally got into the back where the doctor looked at me like I was crazy when I told him "I want it out NOW". He continued to ask me why I thought it was Mirena, if I had it checked up on to see if it was infected from sleeping with more than one partner or if I was pregnant or had a cyst. It took everything I had not to yell at him.. One, I can't be pregnant since I'm GAY. Two, I have been with the same woman for 3 years now and only had the IUD for 2 1/2 years and three.. I only started having these problems after I had it placed. My symptoms got worse over the last 2 weeks, including fainting, extreme hot flashes and light headedness. He agreed to take it out but wouldn't give me any pain killers until he did an ultra sound.. I figured he'd follow procedure by doing an ultra sound then remove the IUD but instead he just grabbed ahold of the IUD strings with little forceps then pulled it out. I cannot tell you how painful it was.. He then just threw it away, didn't even check to see if it was intact and walked out the door. I then had an ultra sound done to see if I had any cysts, which I'm still waiting on the results for. He perscribed me a mild pain killer (tylenol) and sent me home. He never told me what to expect over the next few days.. ... more »

Since Saturday, I haven't bled (thank god) but I am beyond weak. I can barely stand on my own without collapsing, I still have pretty bad hot flashes and bits of being light headed. I feel like I'm coming out of my skin, quite literally. All I've done is sleep pretty much.
I have noticed that my appetite is back (thank god) and I don't have the mood swings anymore. I have an appointment tomorrow to make sure that the jerk of a hospital doctor didn't do any damage to my cervix but I cannot tell you how happy I am to have it out. And I am looking forward to having my old self back. My roommate was talking about having Mirena placed but after sitting in the hospital for 8 hours with me, she has decided against it. I'd rather deal with the heavy bleeding and extreme cramps than to have these issues..
