Mirena Interstitial Cyctitis, Antibotic, High Fever, Pain During Sex, Doc Office

I've had my Mirena since June '07. I am married with 4 kids. I received it at my postpartum checkup with my 4th child. Before i got the device my doctor had nothing but good things to say about it. I originally thought that i was just prone getting infections. I had constant discharge and also pain during sex. I was diagnosed with Interstitial Cyctitis because i always had symptoms of UTI 's. Recently i had a high fever, headache, foul discharge, and constant vomiting. I was very weak and had bad bouts of chills. I felt so bad that i decided to go to ER. I was so sick the doctor originally thought i had the flu. He ran tests and also performed a pelvic exam. Come to find out my IUD was infected and had caused cervicits. I was given an IV antibiotic, a drink mixture of antibiotic, and also flaygell to take for 7 days. I was told to follow up with GYN for removal of device. Well, that was about 3-4 weeks ago, and i didn't make the appt, now i am experiencing deep pain and tenderness in my lower abdominal area. It is really tender during sex or if i do crunches or take deep breathes. I hate i ever got the IUD, and after the memorial day holiday i am going into the doc office to have it removed for sure this time, i wanted to keep the device at least until i finish nursing school, but my body cant take this torture anymore!
